This was a wonderful debut novel! The characters were well-developed, the feelings were raw and full of anguish. It's told from dual POV, and is amazing hurt/comfort read. This book contains mentions that may be triggers to others: PTSD, off-page noncon, conversion therapy, self-harm, addiction, parental mental and physical abuse. Ms James made me feel both men's pain and made me wish to help them. It caused so many emotions from me while reading it - from rage to deep sorrow. And that's the bes ...more
I really liked this! The daddy kink wasn’t extremely present, but overall it was quite an enjoyable book.

Wyatt is a spoiled rich kid who’s acting out to torment his father. Or so it seems. In reality his father hits him when he’s angry and tells him on a daily basis what a disappointment Wyatt is. Wyatt tries to stop the hurting by self-harming, and he doesn’t know how to escape the life he’s living.

When his senator father hires another bodyguard to make sure nothing happens until the elections

The short and sweet is that if you're looking for a well polished, modern Daddy story, you'll be well served by Intoxicating. I liked it, I just didn't love it, but ... maybe I was just being pissy.

This is the story of a 'poor little rich boy', unloved, and uncared for by his father & mother. His father is a Senator from Florida, a member of the religious right, who's up for re-election. His 22 y.o. son Wyatt is nothing but a source of embarrassment, being gay and all, which prompt

I love these types of stories and thought this one sounded good, though I was a little worried it was the same old, same old. I was pleasantly surprised that wasn’t the case, and I ended up really enjoying it, despite some of the more heartbreaking aspects. Linc is in a bit of a spot. He takes on the job of bodyguard in exchange for a big payout, something of which he needs for family matters. He isn’t looking forward to essentially being a babysitter for what appears to be a spoiled brat, but h

A raw story with so much depth, and even Daddy kink, what more could you wish for?

Wyatt is a scarred, closeted gay guy of twenty-two years. Raised by detached parents. His father finds his job as a senator more important than his derailed son. Ughh It made me so angry.

Lincoln, hired by Wyatt’s dad, must prevent any scandal caused by Wyatt before the election in about eight months. At first sight an easy job.
Wyatt just recovered from an accident, not his first DUI. He loves his booze and with tha

I don't know how this is Onley James' first adult mm romance book! It's too good!! But seriously, where has this author been because WOW, I was super impressed with this debut story from Onley James. This story just had a perfect blend of so many excellent elements - daddy kink, age gap, first time, hurt/comfort, bodyguard-falls-for-his-job.

Linc is ex-military, still recovering from some pretty serious PTSD, and is working for his friend, Jackson, who also served with him. Linc has what he thin

I was very certain this was gonna be a win. Started out strong, the writing was very good, characters with intriguing backstories. Daddy kink. But as is the pitfall of a lot of MM books.. too much sex. Some scenes certainly served purpose but a lot of it felt like filler to me. Such a shame. Even though the scenes were hot it’s not a substitute for plot. Last 15% was very strong. It pains me but I just cannot give 4 stars though it was close.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

If the only marker of successful story telling for Intoxicating by Onley James was the heat factor, then it would get five scorching stars and I could call it a day. There is a lot of intense, kinky, daddy/boy scenes—all of which I found to be both sensual and fairly emotional. This was an experienced man, Linc, taking an abused and wounded younger man, Wyatt, under his wing and giving him the attention and care he needs. This aspect of the novel I found to be both

I'm not gonna say much about this one. Cause this book will literally speak for itself when you read it.

First time I read this author and I absolutely loved everything about this book.

Wyatt and Linc were Freaking fantastic and amazing and Ridiculously Off The Charts HOT Together. Literally not enough words to describe the heat coming off this book. I'm pretty sure a paperback would literally catch fire it's so fucking hot..

I won't rule out that this is a case of 'not right for my mood right now', but I didn't really enjoy reading this.

There is A LOT of sex scenes, it's basically porn with a little plot. And that's fine if that's your thing, then you'll probably really like this, but I like my smut with more plot than I got here..

The characters were not shallow, but maybe a little one-sided. While I felt for Wyatt with his trauma, it became a little OTT for me near the end.. Maybe that's just me being insensitive

** Trigger Warning** book contains scenes Self Harm, Addiction, Homophobia, Conversion therapy, off page noncon and PTSD. Oh yeah and very well done Daddy kink.

Lincoln thinks that this is going to be an easy paycheque, to babysit a senators 22 year old kid, but what he finds is that nothing is going to be easy, when he has a desperate boy in need of a Daddy on his hands.

I spent most of this book feeling like I was on a rollercoaster, with my heart in my throat at all the emotions that this book
I need to confess that this book got me hooked from page one!
For the outside world, Wyatt's life looks perfect... rich kid, with no worries, no responsibilities... on the inside, Wyatt is lost, he is breaking, he is at his last strand... he is about to give up... unless something change in his life... unless SOMEONE changes it for him...

After leaving the army, Linc accepted his friend Jackson's invite to work as a bodyguard... but he was not expecting to be protecting a boy that pushes all his r

Wow! The emotional punch of Wyatt’s story grabs you in the first chapter. The Daddy dynamic in Wyatt and Linc’s story was everything I enjoy in this type of story: Care, discipline and the sexy times. I loved how Linc took care of Wyatt and was always concerned for Wyatt’s needs and emotional well-being. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Wyatt’s kick-ass girl bestie Charlie. She was a riot and I loved her fierce protectiveness of Wyatt against his family. This is a book that going to take yo ...more

Loved it!

I loved this book! I think it was a great start to the series. This is actually the first book I’ve read by this author and I plan to read many more. Wyatt and Linc were perfect for each other. I think Linc did a great job being a Daddy and taking care of Wyatt.

Not much to the story other than sex, the daddy/boy dynamic became more of a game than I think the intent was.

I felt that this was either really slow or Ihot bored with it easily because I seriously had to break it up and read 2 or 3 other books in the meantime because it couldn't keep my attention.

I liked the idea and will probably give the author another shot sometime.

I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.

So, I tried leaving a review on Amazon, but it was denied. If the second review goes through, I'll guess it's for the reason I assume: Amazon is biased and doesn't like anyone speaking out against our horrible governmental regime, but I digress.

THIS is the review I tried to leave:

So I've read under Onley's first YA pen name but got away from it because, to be frank, I'm totally over YA.

First I have things to say: I'm guessing that anyone that reviewed th

All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.

Let me start by saying, this is probably one of my favorite books this year.

Linc is hired on by an asshole conservative senator who has problems with his son.

Wyatt it has tried to kill himself on multiple occasions, using drugs, alcohol, driving recklessly etcetera.  You find out if the book goes on, that he has very legitimate reasons for doing so.

This book could be potentially triggering. There's abuse, off-

AMAZING start to a new series. Lincoln and Wyatt are two imperfect men that fit together perfectly. This plot grabbed me right away and meeting Wyatt and slowly seeing behind the curtain of his life will break you heart. There is so much more to him that meets the eye, and needs someone to give him hope, love and confidence. Enter in Linc with his strong and silent type vibe who isn't going to stand by and watch him break. He's stuck between a rock and a hard place with work, family and the poss ...more

From the start, I was completely riveted by Onley James' Intoxicating. An amazing story of finding a purpose, I was intrigued throughout.

The prologue sets the reader off on an amazing journey, as Wyatt is instantly a sympathetic character. What follows only furthers our love of the troubled man.
With parents that don't care about him and in the political eye, Wyatt's drowning and has nothing to live for. Never been able to make a decision or care for himself, he doesn't know how to do the simple

Wyatt has spent his whole life being told that he doesn't measure up to his dad's standards and he has suffered years of emotional and physical abuse. When Lincoln is assigned to be his bodyguard / babysitter he is expecting a spoiled brat, not the beautiful, damaged man he finds in Wyatt.
Wyatt brings out all of Lincoln's protective instincts and their attraction is instant. Wyatt needs a Daddy, someone who will take care of him for the first time ever and he thinks that maybe Lincoln could be

Onley James is a new to me author. This is the first book of a new series and I truly enjoyed reading it. If you’re thing is daddy kink this book fits perfectly. The daddy/boy sub-genre is also chock full of bodyguard duty and also touches on mental health. The book is well written and flows well with excellent side characters that play an important role in the overall storyline. There are trigger warnings to keep in mind including suicide, past physical and sexual abuse and mention of self-harm ...more

I don’t normally read M/M romance but I’m not opposed to branching out and trying new genres. I was a little skeptical going in to it but I was soon sucked it by the characters.

I was compelled to read the story because I cared about the characters and wanted to know their stories. It also has just the right amount of steamy moments for me not to consider it porn. There was lots of angst before the ultimate HEA.

I recommend this book for lovers of M/M as well as those who want to branch out and
I love discovering new-to-me authors, and Onley James is going on my auto-buy list.

Intoxicating brings kink, age gap, and protector themes together for a debut that is a must-read.

Lincoln isn't looking forward to a job as a "babysitter," but the cash is too good to pass up, even if he has to watch over a spoiled rich kid. But Wyatt isn't what Lincoln assumes. Lincoln can't help but want to piece back together the broken, but vulnerable Wyatt...with a kinky twist.

First up, there are a lot of con

I’m always looking out for new mm authors which is why I decided to give this book a go. Did my gamble pay off? Hell yeah!

On the outside, Wyatt had everything but a closer look, shows a different picture. My heart shattered every time Wyatt’s dad opened his horrible mouth to say nasty things about his son. Wyatt wore his emotions on his sleeves; his life or worth meant nothing to the people that should have l

Lincoln has just recently left the military and now he's a hot shot bodyguard who has just been hired to basically babysit the adult son of a crappy family morals type senator. Wyatt hates his dad, and well he should, and he's damn near suicidal. He is definitely self-destructive. And frankly, with his father, I would be too.

Wyatt really does need a Daddy, someone who can take care of him and make him feel better, and give him the love that he so desperately needs to have. It's a good thing tha

Wow, what a beginning. This book drew me right in and kept me there the whole way through.

Lincoln becomes Wyatt's bodyguard. Both men in tough situations for different reasons because of their families.

I loved Charlie, she was a great friend and defender of Wyatt. Now Wyatt, he broke my heart..

I really enjoyed the writing style. It was witty, funny, sexy and sweet. The story had great flow. I felt like I got to know these men. Watching these men help each other fight their demons.

Heartbreaking and heart warming story

This was one hell of a beautiful and heartbreaking story.

Linc and Wyatt are complete opposite. They try so hard to fight a good thing that could end badly for both of them, and you feel so much for them and with them along the way
I loved the respect and love that develops between these two as they slowly discover who the other truly is.
I loved both of them, but I was even more taken by Wyatt who has to deal with so much.
All in all a great book (make sure to

Together, Wyatt and Lincoln are wonderful. The "discipline" Lincoln gives Wyatt is just what the boy needs to help stabilize him but in the end sex isn't enough. Love comes quickly but . . . things are complicated to say the least.

This book was as the tittle implies, Intoxicating

This book was really good! I had to force myself to put it down so I could sleep. It was a little dark so you should definitely heed the trigger warnings. But don't let the darkness scare you off. There was so much sweetness to be found in Linc's care of Wyatt. From the outside Wyatt looks like your typical "spoiled rich kid" but on the inside the darkness threatens to consume him. Linc, desperate to help his sister, takes a job "babysitting" a s
