I have read that story before, more than a few times. It's a bit of Academy of Assassins, a bit of Born of Embers, a bit of Hunted by Shadows, a bit of Bound Spirit, a bit of Trying To Live With The Dead.
But Stacey Brutger managed to make of a very unoriginal plot something complex and worth the read.

Annora has spent most of her life chained in the basement of her psychopath uncle, sold as miracle medicine and beaten to death for the fun of it. After a close escape and a twist of

I really liked it. The problem is that it's going to be a while until the next book comes out.

It’s good, it just doesn’t make sense

Pros: 4 stars
Great female lead. Strong, not annoying
The guys are awesome
Loved the Paranormals from a troll with living pink hair to a poisonous lizard. Great characters.

Cons: 3 stars

I’m not a fan of insta love. They are all head over heels in less than a week. While this is not my fave, I wouldn’t take off stars for that because some peop

Now, this was an absolutely captivating read.

There were no words left for me to say at the end of the book. The emotional roller coaster I went on while reading this book had the stereotypical cart, wheels, and drops, but it also felt like it had a VR headset and chocolate along with it. The entire book was well-thought out and edited, but not just that- it was as realistic as possible and perfectly, sinfully decadent. Annora is sassy, badass, brave, and just the right amount of oblivious (let’

A couple of areas got dinged in this for me. One is the missing genre tags on Amazon. This was not marked as being a Reverse Harem. Yes, I really should have picked that up from the blurb, but didn’t. I also should have checked Goodreads as it does have that tag there, so this is only a small ding. The other missing tag is the new adult tag. I’m also not giving this a heavy ding with th

2 and half stars

I'm giving this book 2 and a half stars, now as it started out good it seemed to go down hill the more you read on. I absolutely loved the storyline, it's about the only amazing thing about this story the rest is back noise that I didn't really care for, I didn't care for our heroine or the writing skills in this book. Our heroine is a strong survivor, and we read all about this, over and over and over! This book is so repetitive it was hard to read and took me 3! Days to finall

Whew! This was probably a 4-4.5 star read for me. It was kind of phenomenal and I'm loving this story line so far. I'm not quite sure where to start. This story ended up being on the darker side but the characters and the backstory really made this a captivating read. I loved all the characters! Annora, the FMC, manages to be both vulnerable and strong at the same time. The chemistry between Annora and all our guys is on point! All the guys have wonderful differences and different strengths and ...more

I’m honestly not sure how I managed to push myself this far through the book. DNF at 45% (although to be honest I wanted to give up almost my chapter three). But I had to be fair to the author as I’d like some of her previous series. Maybe I was judging it too early?

Spolier: I wasn’t.

The first chapter had amazing detail and description and it drew me right in. I was excited for where the sorry went.

By chapter three this had turned into every other RH forced-into-a-team-together type book. But

Potential, but a bit scattered

Overall, decent read, maybe a 3.5
Good and strong FMC, but some of repetition of her fears got a bit old.
I loved the paranormal variety of species when it came to her harem. Even her species was a new one for me. The guys were a bit cookie cutter in personality, but still great. Haven't seen this kind of variety since the Pheonix series by Haper Wyld. Though I was a tad confused if they were teacher or students at points. Their role made very little sense to me.

This was good, but I definitely think there needed to be another round of edits. There were a lot of "hiccups" in the descriptive narrative in this that annoyed me. Like, Annora has "a bag" (no description) then she's running somewhere, then she suddenly has it again, then we realize its a backpack(?), then its gone again. It may seem minor, but it was inconsistencies like that that didn't allow me to sink into the story.

Also, I definitely though some of the guys got more screen time than others

Please, for the love of RH, stop saying "Explain." or "Tell me." a billion times because it's annoying AS HELL! I pretty much went like this when I kept seeing them all over the place:

Tell me.

Tell me.

Other than that, this was a decent book with potential. I didn't love it, but I liked it enough to want the next book in the series.

Enjoyable RH with interesting characters

I'd only read one of Stacey Brutger's books in another series before this (& I enjoyed that one too) but I decided to give this one a go because the premise seemed interesting and I'm glad that I did.
Annora's power is an unusual one that I haven't seen very often and the description of the other world was really well depicted to the extent that I had no problem visualising the world.
Annora's background is quite harsh, which seems to be a trend for the

Give it a chance!

I really wanted to just drop by and leave a review that says I’ve absolutely loved this book and am so definitely ready for more. Sorry, review readers, I’m super tired and don’t have the energy to give specifics on why it’s good but I’m definitely a fan of the men, the main character, the potential for shifted loyalties, the old man that shows up sometimes, and the ferrets.

Oh, also, for those curious: none-to-light banging (meaning no penetrative sex but there’s certainly ple

Strange and awesome

This Third person Rh is a slow burn delight, crafting a supernatural world that, quite literally, lives in the shadows. It seems like it would be an academy book, and it kinda is - but only because they are at a school. We don’t see classes and we observe very little interaction with others outside the core group thus story surrounds. For all that, it is not missing anything, in fact - by the end of the novel (cliffhanger) you are invested in this quintet and want to see where

Awesome new series

This is the first book in a new series, and be warned it does have somewhat of a cliffhanger ending. Even knowing that, I still would have read this, and I usually hate cliffhangers. It's an interesting take on the usual paranormal storyline, and I won't say too much more to avoid spoilers. The characters will pull you in from the first page, and you won't be able to put this book down. The plot is fast, the editing fairly good. The errors are very minor, and, while annoying, d

Ok, so I have to say, from the description, I was expecting a wilting flower main character from the Amazon description. The only reason I picked it up was because of the great reviews. But DARN IF YOU DIDN'T SURPRISE ME. This girl is spunky as hell! Not that she doesn't have realistic hang-ups from years of torture, but she isn't a wilting ANYTHING. Good character development all around, and everything tied together pretty well throughout the book. The only thing off the top of my head that bot ...more
Tethered to the World was a wonderful surprise of a story that knocked me off my feet.

Annora's story is incredible and somehow unique despite being a similar trope to so many other reverse harems at the moment. I really love the whole academy theme that's going on but so many tend to blend together with similar story lines. But this author managed to write a fantastic story that stood out to me.

This story is action packed and a little dark with the perfect blend of reverse harem romance that i

Awesome new paranormal series

So we got a unknown paranormal who is running from some bad pole who gets sent to a college for paranormals. Here the team she is assigned to sports some serious eye candy and you will be having the beginnings of a reverse harem. The school seems to be a secondary setting in this book, it revolves more around the team and how the build cohesiveness and attempt to solve a missing kids case. I really liked the story, the main chick is not annoying and the men are inter

Good Story, Poor Editing

I really liked this story, particularly because it's rare to find a new mythological being used in a series anymore. Vampires, shifters, and witches are great, but something new is simply fantastic to see.

But in chapter 1, the author somehow posted the story all wrong or something? Because one page didn't lead to the next pages scene, and it would jump forwards or backwards strangely in the story. Fortunately, it's just that 1 chapter. Also, the dialogue wasn't well edite

A fabulous page turner of a read

I am a fan of this writer anyway, but this story was a complete page turner. I really struggled to put it down. It captured my interest from the start and its fresh and exciting storyline held me captive.

With some extraordinary characters, Annora is a brave and somewhat fiesty heroine not quite broken but with enough fragility that feels for others and makes her compassionate, the boys are broken shells when she meets them. I found this story to be so incredibly w
Tethered to the World begins with the heroine running from someone. She finally found a place that will teach her to fight, but when she has to save someones life, she lets out her secret, and now he wants to help her by sending her to a school to help train her.

This book sort of felt like it was all over the place. It had an interesting story, and I enjoyed the characters. But at one time it felt like the heroine was a bad-ass, then the next she needed help, so that was annoying. Other than th

What a great read!

Stacey Brutger does it again! If you were a fan of the Academy of Assassin's books you are going to love Tethered To The World and if you are new to Stacey Brutger, what have you been waiting for!!!!

Annora is the best combination of Raven and Morgan and may just be my favorite heroine! And the guys are great too. Each with a beast that is not common and I can't wait to learn more about them.

There is a pretty big cliffhanger, but it's worth it in my opinion. Can't wait for book

Tethered- Book 1 - great start to newest series by Stacey Brutger

You quickly become immersed into Annoras life in Tethered to the World and it’s a world full of magic and mythical shifters. Annora is certainly a damaged but resilient MC and she is quickly coming into her powers. Her team are equally broken (and swoon worthy) and they need to unite to face Annoras dark past. It’s an action packed, slow burn RH read and I’m hoping book 2 is just around the corner.

This book was easy for me to get drawn into. It definitely has an Academy of Assassins vibe to it, but is different enough to not feel like a rehash. There are similarities, though. Still, I like that in this series, the binding happens quickly. For some, it may be too quickly, but I definitely liked it. I'm interested in what will happen next, especially after that slight cliff.

Stacey Brutger is by far one of my favourite authors!.. she has such a way of fully pulling you in to the world's she writes about.. the characters are so well writing that you could practically feel every emotion they go through.. she has such a wonderful imagination and such a way of writing it all down that you can so clearly picture everything in your mind.. this book was fantastic.. I can't wait to read the next one!!.. well deserving of five stars!

It was a good book, but I feel like I have read million other similar RH books like this.

Annora was the typical strong and slightly damaged RH heroine. All the heroes had the similar bad experience. Annora had some rare "special" power. Some evil bad dude was trying to capture her and exploit her power.

This sounds too much like Academy of Assassins and Raven Investigations. I love those two series, but I want see something different from the author.

Holy cow Batman

Once again, Stacey has worked her magic and taken the paranormal world to a whole new level.
This book is amazing, a totally new premise with a whole new take on a multitude of creatures that have already been thoroughly explored.
This book starts a little slow but steadily it gains momentum until your heart is pounding and your mouth is watering for more!
Still, I'm wondering what happened to her classes?

Stacey Brutger lives in a small town in Minnesota with her husband and an assortment of animals.

When she's not reading (from the towering stack of books she can't resist buying), she enjoys creating stories about exotic worlds and grand adventures...then shoving in her characters to see how they'd survive. She enjoys writing anything paranormal from contemporary to historical.
