Davey’s Rule #86: A good Daddy will never lie to his boy… even by omission.

Travis Miller has a pretty solid life in the small California beach town he calls home. He’s working his way up in the district attorney’s office, he owns a home with an ocean view, and he has close ties with his family. Life is good. If only he could find a sweet boy to call his own, life would be

This is a sweet Daddy/boy romance with a side order of horrible ex providing a bit of tension but the majority of the narrative just concerns Travis and Adam getting to know each other and falling in love.

I will say, the intro completely confused me, given that it's a first-person PoV from the Davey of the series' title and I honestly didn't see the point of it being there as it regarded this story really.

That said, Davey's a riot and I'm guessing he'll get his own story eventually and ther

I loved this book! I was confused by the prologue at first because the MCS were different than the blurb, but it all makes sense later. This was mild on the Daddy kink, and just enough for me to appreciate. I just loved all the characters in this book (except Zach)! Davey just made me LOL too many times!! I CAN'T wait for his book, and I hope he ends up with Bryan!!😍 I'd even read about Preston who is a catty and rude Bitch! I just feel like he must have some major issues to be so rude,
Now this was a disappointment. I’ve liked Susi Hawke’s books before, but man, this was boring!

What mostly stood out to me was how incredibly dull the conversations these guys had were. I can do some small talk where the characters get to know each other, but darn, this lasted almost the entire book. For instance they had like 10 conversations about how wonderful the beach is and how nice it is to sit by it/walk along side it/watch the waves. And so on…

Also I noticed that some parts were just ove

The prologue made me want to stop reading three paragraphs in BUT, I understand that this series is about Davey finding his "Daddy" but he got on my nerves.

After that I had to take step back and re-read the blurb to even give the book a second chance. I really, really tried GR but DOA at Chapter 4. I just couldn't move past Davey or the strange deja vu that I 'be read this before. Sooo I'm done.

All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.

First we meet the titular character Davey. He comes off a little overbearing at first because of his list of rules and the fact that he expects other people to be mind readers. But beyond that initial briefly shaky introduction, Davey is actually quite endearing and even admits that he needs to let his potential suitors know about the list of rules. He's definatly a brat, and a queen with a capital Q, but Davey is som

Oh I love Davey all right. He's the actual main character of this series. He has rules, like many rules about how a Daddy should be.
Adam as said the blurb had just gotten out from an abusive relationship. The last thing he needed was someone who's controlling and dominant.
Travis's a Daddy, one failed date with Davey, who jas too many rules, he didn't expect meeting Adam, Davey's best friend and roommates.
Speaking about awkward. I liked Davey and Adam's platonic relationship , I think more than

In the first chapter I was fully prepared to hate Davey because he was rude, selfish, and annoying. But it turns out he's just that way with a potential Daddy. That should be interesting in future books. However, this book was about Adam and Travis. Adam's reactions and feelings about his previous relationship were spot on, and that's hard to achieve. And the detail with other characters involved, made this a world you'd want to visit again. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Other then what happened in the beginning, we didn't see the actual beating, this was a sweet low angst fun read. I love Daddy kink and we had it in spades here. Adam finally leaves his abusive boyfriend after 1 to many times Zach puts his hands on him. Thinking he has no where to go, he makes contact with a roommate from college, Davey, who opens his home to him. I absolutely loved Davey & all of his 80+ rules. Susan Hawke's writing plus Michael Pauley's narration? Yes, please! I needn't say more, but I will, especially if you're new to this particular pairing or just to the two in general. Hawke's newest audiobook is the first in her latest series entitled Davey's Rules, and her story is taken to a whole new level of awesomeness with the vocal stylings of Pauley. The "Davey" in question is Davey Hendrickson, a young gay man who's jot

I wasn't sure what to expect when I listened to the Prologue of this book. It starts with Davey (the reason this series is called Davey's Rules) on a date with Travis, who turned out to be one of the MCs in Rules to Follow. Davey is a bratty guy in search of the perfect Daddy and to find him, he has made this set of rules he measures every guy he dates against in a 3 strikes and they're out kind of deal. Of course, the potential Daddy has no clue about the rules and with 80-something of t

An emotionally gripping, poignant and healing story!!

This story is so real and authentic it will grab your heart from the start. Knowing this story has so much of Susan in it makes it even more enthralling and emotional. The story follows Adam, as he gets the courage to leave an abusive partner and turn to an old friend, Davey, to help start his life again. The story is witty, humorous and real, with characters that are so unique and just totally

This book was wonderful which isn't a surprise because this author always has the ability to just blow me away with amazing stories. Now, while this book is about Adam and Daddy Travis, Davey plays a huge part and this book would be so much...less without him.

Adam has just escaped and abusive relationship, so there may be triggers for some, and he goes to the only.person he knows that will take him in, his previous college roommate Davey. Adam is starting over and we get to watch his rise from t

Damn! Susan Hawke's Rules to Follow is an amazing read.

Adam's running from his abusive ex. With the help of a friend, Davey, he not only escapes but is also introduced to a BDSM club called Daddy's Lap. Damn, I love this name!

This romance involves an inexperienced natural sub, a roommate who certainly acts like a Daddy, and some secrets. I love their friendship and their level of support for one another.

With great writing, lovable characters, and fun banter, I was entertained throughout. Travi

Davey's Rules is so heartwarming, hilarious and engaging as a story, definitely a great new series to love from Susan Hawke.
Adam goes to his college friend, Davey, in the middle of the night after finally leaving an abusive relationship. Travis comes into the picture offering a place for Adam to rent but keeps a vital part of himself back that is very likely to cause problems down the road as a connection neither of them expected.
Adam's new job at Daddy's Lap is eye opening but also makes him th

As with many other readers, the prologue confused me. Davey is NOT a main character, he is a side character and friend to one of the MCs. In the prologue, Davey is on a date with Travis (MC Daddy) and during the date, Travis unknowingly breaks 3 of Davey’s unspoken rules. The date ends amicably at the end of the ‘chapter’.

When the MCs story begins, Adam leaves his abusive Boyfriend and stays with his friend Davey. Davey gets Adam a job at “Daddy’s Lap”, a BDSM club that caters to Daddy ki

Seriously Enjoyable Read!

Adam is fresh out of a relationship that was toxic and abusive. He ran from his ex in the middle of the night to his friend from college- Davey. (Oh my, Davey is a character and a half! I loved that in an ensemble of characters, Davey stands out- he is a Superstar!) He begins to work in a club with special clientele and discovers a new way of life he was missing before. Travis is the ultimate Daddy, who is caring, nurturing, and an all-around good guy. His relationship w

Rules to Follow is the first book in Susan Hawke’s new Davey’s Rules series, and I found it a sweet, if somewhat quiet, Daddy/boy story. The book starts off with the aftermath of one of Zach’s abusive attacks on Adam and we can really feel for Adam as he tries to get away and move forward with his life. I appreciated how we see Adam reclaim control, finding a job that he loves and taking self-defense classes that give him the confidence and skills he needs to fee

This is a new-to-me author who piqued my interest when I read the blurb for this book. It's not exactly what I was expecting but I did enjoy the story.

The overall circumstances of how Adam and Travis meet was really sad. The beginning was heartbreaking yet empowering because as beaten and broken as Adam was he found the strength and determination to leave the abusive relationship he was in. I feel that this author really did a great job with Adam's character. His progres

AMAZING! This is a great start to a new series, I couldn't put it down. Travis and Adam had the perfect chemistry mix with hot kink and sweet love. Travis has everything he could want but a Boy to fill that life with love. Confident, sexy and the prefect caring Daddy! Adam has been though so much hurt and pain, just wanting to start over again and feel safe. Oh how I wanted to love this. The premise seemed good - a character who leaves an abusive relationship meets a brat and they possibly get into kinky love? And in 1st POV? I enjoy 1st POV a lot.

It's my first time trying this author, so I didn't know what to expect.

The overall tone is what ruined the entire experience. I never respond well to the tongue-in-cheek type of writing. The main character rubbed me the wrong way from the second line. I could deal with his superficial listing of th

I loved this book. From the start I was intrigued and enthralled - it has a funny and cute storyline and it is so hot it needs its own fire blanket.
I loved Travis and Adams story and even though I knew Travis would mess up, I loved the way he apologised - once Davey had a talk to him. Where would we be without our Davey friends?

Friendship, love, and finding understanding are the keys to making this a great story. Finding someone to love you and connect with you is an amazing blessing and these MC's are both ready for that special love. Coming from very different worlds and vastly different experiences both these men find common ground. The writing was good and the story-line really flowed.

OK, first of all, I have to say that Davey is just an awesome, hilarious, fantastic character. I think that he would bring a lot of joy into everyone's life.

Adam needs a place to go to be safe, and his friend Davey is it. Davey is more than happy to let him stay with him and help him get a job. Davey even talks to a guy he knows and dated once, who is a lawyer, who can help Adam be safer. Travis likes to save people, so it all works out.

Where to start. This book took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting to love it so much, so much so that I read it in a day, which I haven’t done that with a book in a little while. Travis was the perfect Daddy. Caring, nurturing, but far from perfect when he keeps that part of himself secret from Adam. His intentions were good, but we know how all good intentions are. AMAZING start to this series!!

I don't normally write reviews, however this book is a must read! Can't wait for the next book in the series.

The list of Davey's rules at the end just made me laugh and wonder about why & how they came to be on his list.

Adam and Travis were so sweet and I loved their connection. Of course, I just wanted to smack some sense into Travis a couple of times when he had opportunities to disclose being a "daddy" several times. He was just such a sweet "daddy" though t
