THE SLEEPOVER is the fourth novel in the Detective Natalie Ward Series, a riveting crime-thriller by Carol Wyer. Her books keep getting better and better!

Cathy Curtis and her fourteen-year-old daughter, Roxy, a stubborn and demanding child, had a spat during the day, but all was forgiven and Roxy was off to a sleepover at her best friend Ellie’s house. The two families were neighbors, and the girls had grown up together. Cathy saw no reason to check out her daughter’s story, as the girls are in

As always a cracking read from Carol Wyer.
I love this series and it keeps getting better and better.
This book starts off with a teenage girl’s body being found burnt beyond recognition in a house fire.
Natalie and the team need to work out why the fire was started and what the girl was doing in the house, as the owners don’t know her.
Her family are devastated by her death and just as they coming to terms with it, another family member is murdered.

You can never go wrong with reading a Carol Wyer book! She's such a talented author and has quickly become one of my favorites.

In the 4th book in the Natalie Ward series, we open with a house burning down. It quickly involves Natalie and her team, however, when a body is found among the wreckage. What seems likes a quick and cut case becomes entirely different when it is a 14 year old girl, who seems to have no reason to have been in that house. With everybody lying to Natalie, she becomes incre

I love Natalie Ward! This is one fantastic series and at book 4 I hope that we are just getting started. This book has the detective working a tough and complex case whilst her family are falling apart. She is one tough woman but she can only take so much right? Already looking forward to book 4.

Roxy is 14 year old teenage girl who has just had a fight with her mum about a boy. That night she tells her mother that she is having a sleepover at her best friend Ellie's place, not too far away. Litt

It's hard to believe that this is book four in the series. Even harder when I consider that the weekend I spent reading the book was actually exactly a year to the days that I read book one, The Birthday. 13-14th July 2018 and 13-14th July 2019. Four books, twelve months. And these weren't the only books that Ms Wyer released in the year, making this an even more impressive feat. But did such a gruelling writing schedule affect quality? Did it 'eck as like. This series keeps going from strength ...more

As teens the greatest joy was escaping the parents for a day or two and going to a friends house for a sleepover!
However, something tragically went wrong when a sleepover turns into a nightmare for Roxy and her family.
One child is dead and this may be just the beginning as the killer is still on the loose and it appears there's more to this internally than externally in terms of the finger pointing.
It may have nothing to do with the best friend Ellie after all as the stepfather seems more a targ

I’m a big fan of Carol’s Natalie Ward series. Just when I thought her books couldn’t get any better, she proves me wrong!

The characters are well written and I even felt a little sympathy for Natalie’s husband at times. That’s the sign of an excellent writer.

I didn’t guess who committed the murders so it was a surprise when it was revealed towards the end of the book.

One of the best crime thrillers I’ve read this year.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me an arc of this story and th

Wow what a page turner thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m a massive Carol Wyer fan and this did not disappoint. It was one of my favourite reads of 2019 so far. Natalie has a lot to deal with, an intriguing case which is a massive puzzle to untangle, issues with her kids and a husband she can’t trust. This book was was fabulous, it was dark, intense and full of twists that kept me guessing. Carol has the knack of pulling the reader in and not letting them go until the explosive end. Carol you’ve done it again! The Sleepover is an absorbing, riveting and twisty thriller that had me in it’s grip from the first page, was difficult to predict, and impssible to put down.

Fourteen-year-old Roxy tells her Mum she’s going to her friend’s house for a sleepover but the next day her body is found in the charred remains of a house fire in an area nowhere near where she was supposed to be and owned by people she didn’t know. Detective Natalie Ward and her team are called to investigate

This was by far the best of the DI Natalie Ward books, and the first three have been fantastic, so this is saying a lot! I’m not sure what it is that made this the best so far. I think it was a variety of things. The storyline was unique and unparalleled, and nothing was too obvious, and the perpetrator wasn’t easy to guess. Natalie really seems to be finding her stride, and we had a little more of her home life. The team is really gelling now, and everything is coming together. It all just work ...more

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This one was my favourite one to date. I was hooked from the first page. This was fast paced and thrilling. I thought I had it, and I was wrong.

Carol Wyer does a good job of writing her characters. I really hated the brothers who owned the house. I felt sympathy for a lot of the characters. And I like how we get parts of Natalie’s life. It makes her more human and relatable.

Looking forward to the next book in the s

Its no secret that I am a huge fan of Carol Wyer and when the DI Natalie Ward series came out, I was in my element…. I have read and loved each and every book and feel involved in the personal dramas that surround Natalie.

This is the fourth book in the series and yet another belter…. 14 year old Roxy and her mother Cathy had had a fight, they more or less made up and Roxy went as planned to a sleepover with her best friend Ellie. This was a night that was to change their world and their family d

The Sleepover – Carol Wyer

When I saw that my request for this via Netgalley had been granted I was over the moon. I bloody love this series, the DI Natalie Ward series always grabs my attention and keeps me guessing till the end, that’s the way it should be with a police procedural novel.

We all had sleepovers when we were young but we were lucky as we came home ok but when you lie and stay somewhere else there’s no guarantees of a safe return and for Roxy that proved to be the case. This story

“The Sleepover” by Carol Wyer is my second book by the author, the first being “the Birthday Girl” and this certainly does not disappoint.

Loved the book!!! I would give it 4.5 stars. I felt like it was slow to start and it took me a little bit to get into the story. After awhile I couldn't put it down. I love Detective Natalie Ward. She needs to be more appreciated at home. I thought Leigh might act a bit nicer after the stunt she pulled in the last book, but no. I have never liked David. After this book, I dislike him even more. Adding alcohol to his gambling addiction is not a smart move. Since he's not working, one would think ...more

Fourth in the Detective Natalie Ward series, The Sleepover was my introduction to author Carol Wyer. As promised in the description, the story opens with tension between Roxy, a teenage girl, and her Mum after an argument. Her mother receives a report, while on the job as a police detective, of a body found in the remains of a house fire only to discover it is her daughter. This is just one aspect of ...more

Lots going in this police procedural as the body of fourteen year old Roxy is found in a burned out house and it seems that a lot of people have lots to hide. This story is about Roxy's death. She was supposed to be at her best friends for a sleepover so how was her body found in a burned down house that is seemingly unconnected to her family and friends. This book was decently written and had a great story line. The characters were well developed and believable. The book captured and held my interest sufficiently as well. The reason it lost stars for me was i found that the interrogations and discussion about perps/motives to become very repetitive, ...more
