Good Enough...When Losing is Winning, and Thin Enough Can Never be Achieved

This is an inspiring memoir of the author's near-fatal battle with anorexia and bulimia, and how she was able to emerge victorious 25 years later. Her incredible, thought-provoking journey takes you far beyond the eating disorder symptoms and into the obsessive mindset in a way that only someone who has been there can. But the story doesn't end there; it continues straight down the road of recovery proving that victory is possible no matter how many years you have struggled.

Had to read this for a psych project and I was surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did, even though it was tough to read at times. I have a lot of respect for the honesty Cindy showed and I think she did an excellent job articulating many feelings associated with eating disorders, the stages of recovery, and how medical/social interactions/support can have such an impact on progression of the disorder. And we got a happy ending :’)

Of all eating disorder memoir books to recommend to someone in recovery, or trying to recover, this is the one. The story is a legitimate story of recovery rather than "these are the exact steps I took to lose weight and hide my eating disorder."
