Slaughter is the best medicine.
Callie Penrose is back to murder vampires and chew bubblegum. And she’s all out of bubblegum.
Callie has had a rough few days. Five minutes after discovering she had a Godfather, she learned that the future of the world depended on the two of them taking an immediate road trip.
To Castle Dracula—a place even the supernatural community...more
Her goal, as last described in book 6 is to kill Dracula. Ambitious goal. But, then, Callie is an ambitious kinda gal. But, this is Callie, so of course things start going wrong almost from the jump. I can't tell you how, or what, or even with whom because that would be giving things away. And I don't do spoilers. Suffice it to say, ...more

Shayne probably made me laugh harder with the witty banter between Callie and her new friend and sidekick, than I have with any of his other books!
As the battle for intelligence against the greatest evil organization ever seen in literature wages on, Shayne manages to keep the reader laughing and turning pages even during some of the darkest scenes that could happen to a person.
Such rookie mistakes here, storming Dracula's Castle but leaving your Alucard behind, not a proper whip in sight (severed acid frog tongues don't count), and even managing to botch a silver-plattered example of Chekhov's Shotgun. Yet the worst disappointment comes not from what was, but what wasn't. Years of cautious suspicion constantly in motion, waiting for any hint of a sign towards yay or nay, and yet when we finally ...more
Callie thought, as we all did that Dracula had died ‘way back, at the end of Bram Stoker’s book by the same name. She also thought that Castle Dracula had been burned in the end (although I don’t remember that from the ...more
When we last left our all powerful super female person of the century, Callie Penrose, she has just been a tad disappointed in longtime friends and mentors. She had just found out some really odd news about creatures whom her parents trusted most. AND, she was off to a really unusual adventure.
Well, this picks up about two minutes later. (Almost like we could have had one nice long book but out favorite author had to torture us. Just like his ...more
Callie battles with enemies known and unknown, while wrestling with her own inner demons (also known and unknown).
Her moments of internal reflection go slow - not because they are irrelevant or unimportant, but because I cannot read as fast as the maelstrom of thoughts rip through Callie's mind.
Meanwhile, each maelstrom is book-ended by mystic combat, new friendships, and enough random references to make your ...more
Finally! I have been waiting to read this book since I started the series and as soon as it was release on kindle unlimited it was quickly downloaded and I didn't even turn back to any other series I have been reading to fill this void while I waited for this book to release. The plot twist alone had me going back and forth and re-reading passages to make sure I didn't miss a clue or a hint but no I basically found out as Callie found out.
I wish I was constantly in awe of Shayne Slivers because that would mean he writes as fast as I read! Unfortunately I have to wait (a very reasonable time indeed) to be amazed again. Every book builds on the last, rising precariously higher than I thought possible. If you’re looking for an world of monsters who love a good laugh as much as a bloodbath then go ahead and take the plunge. Jump right in, waters fine. Shayne will teach you to swim. Until he ...more
There are some interesting new characters added (hopefully some of which will stay), and many answers to the questions behind the motivations of these characters. Definitely at least one shocking revelation, continuing from Black Sheep, which I'm so glad was dropped! Now THAT makes sense.
If you've gotten this far in the Feathers and Fire series, I'm not sure why you're waiting. Get this book and find some answers you've been ...more
I think that's one of my favorite lines from Godless. Callie Penrose really comes into her own in this book. She is fierce and fabulous and funny as hell. Shayne Silvers knows what his readers wants and continues to deliver. New characters and old meet and blend seamlessly. One-liners are spaced out appropriately and blended with some flipping awesome extended metaphors. Well worth the wait and the read.
Now, let's talk about this specimen of a man named Shayne...
Shayne Silvers writes the "Nate Temple Supernatural Thriller Series" which features a foul-mouthed, flawed, young wizard with a chip on his ...more
