This book was just annoying.
1. Bethi and EVERYTHING about her was annoying.
2. The constant, CONSTANT dream sequences were annoying.
3. Luke refusing to claim her until she was 18 was really fucking annoying.
4. The fact that the whole mating thing was so fickle was annoying. You could mate with anyone or be forced into a mating. That's not my kind of mating book.
5. Bethi thinking that in the past when she cared about make up and boys that her life wasn't worth living because those things are shallow was annoying.
6. The romance was annoying. Why did he love her? Did she actually love him? For most of the book it felt like she just wanted to use him.

So far this has probably been my least favorite of the series. Which is super sad, because I have been waiting to see what happens with Luke. With the previous two books I felt like both of the relationships grew naturally. Even with Clay being in wolf form most of the time, there was still a connection. I didn't feel that as much with Bethi and Luke. I found them somewhat odd together. Also, it was weird how Bethi became all knowing so quickly.
Yeah, it was a little annoying. Also, the fact that Luke was all, "We have to wait until your 18!" even though it was causing her actual pain. Yeah, Luke went down in my mind. I mean it was just a lame excuse. The whole time I was hoping we would get scenes from the other couples we had met.
I am also nervous about the next one because I don't really care about Charlene's story because it is not really moving the current plot forward. But, I might continue and give it a try. I want to know how everything ends up.

Now this heroine just drove me nuts. The story is great - but Bethi, alone dropped those stars. Talk about TSTL! Let's see how many really stupid choices we can make and still stay alive! I can't imagine even a teenager couldn't think through consequences a little better than this chick!

I would NOT recommend this series to any of my clean romance followers.
What in the world just happened? I’m completely speechless and again have no clue where to even start on my review.
Out of the six sisters, Bethi is the only one that remembers everything. Dreams call to her and pull her under. But they aren’t just regular dreams. They’re dreams of her and her sisters’ pasts lives that always end the same way… in her death. She wakes up screaming every time because she not only sees everything but feels it as well.
Enter Luke. He seems to have the magic touch when it comes to her. As long as he’s holding her, she has dreams that are full of needed information. But if he leaves her for any reason, the nightmares take over and she wakes up wanting to knock him out because of the pain.
And speaking of information. Holy crow Batman! Talk about information overload! This book is packed with A LOT of information. Most of my questions from books 1 and 2 were answered but more arose by the time I finished (Un)wise. I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything. So many dreams… memories… pain… anger… frustration.. and yes, even romance. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster full of twists and turns. I gave up trying to figure everything out. Haha.
Book 3 is where I left off the first time I read this series. My reasoning was because I “needed a break from all the flashbacks”. Y’all… I’m just going to go with I wasn’t as invested in the series as I am now. I can’t stop! I NEED to know what happens! Continued flashbacks or not, book 4… here I come!

I definitely see why basically everyone didn't like this book.
It's all Bethi.
I get it. She dreamt all these past lives and lived through the hell of it all but damn she came off horrible. And I'm being nice.

Look, I'm never happy with the age gaps in this series but this is had 17 year old jailbait. I remember being the 13 year old people thought was 18 and getting propositioned, I'm never going to be comfortable with a romance involving a man in his mid twenties and a 17 year old. I don't care if she's the romantic aggressor, I don't care about any excuse the author built into the plot because the author chose to That's a choice she made that I don't like, and I've already been on the fence with the age gaps she thinks are so cute. It doesn't matter how nice she makes the dudes it's still gonna bother me. I'm seriously considering returning the entire fucking series that I bought cuz my financial aid came in.
So fair warning, if you were a "mature" tween or teen who had to deal with predatory 20-somethings you may find this book in particular off-putting.

I read this series back in 2014, when I wasn't on goodreads. So it never got rated.
Basically this series is about six human woman, who have different special talents and don't what they are useful for. On the other hand there are werwolves. Kind of two different species of werwolves, one are the good one and one the bad ones. Both groups has people who are compatible with those human women. For each woman two guys to choose from.
Charlene was the first one found. We do not know her story. In Hope(less) the first book of this series we read about Gabby's story. In (Mis)fortune the second book of the story we follow Michelle and Emmitt's story. Book three is about Luke and Bethi's story, which I expected to be book two.
I loved that Bethi gave Luke a hard time.

4.5/5 stars (RabidReads) This is one of those series that continues to get better as it goes. Not that the first books were bad, because they definitely weren’t, but that the story line gets more. More everything- answers, romance, running for your life moments, action, new characters. But because this is wisdom’s book, we do get more answers than anything else- well except for the romance. Just a heads up, since this is the third in this series, there could be some spoilers ahead if you haven’t started the series yet.
Bethi Pederson has a problem. She can’t allow herself to sleep, so she spends her time buying pills to keep herself awake, and trying to stay awake even with the pills. When she sleeps, she dreams, only these aren’t your everyday dreams. These are dreams of herself in many different time periods, some from a millennium before, or even older, and without exception, she dies. Bethi feels every death, every horrible second of it, and the reader goes with her in the dreams, but there’s nothing really horribly explicit as far as the violence, although I could have done without the being burned alive dream. She also knows from her dreams that she is being hunted by a group of men that can change into horrible wolf like creatures. She knows that if she is found, they will kill her, just like in all of her dreams. So when she is at the mall and is approached by a young man who seems extremely interested in her, she runs. She leaves everything she knows behind, including her mother, and her senior year of high school.
If you have read the first book in this series, Hope(less),then you know that Luke, one of the good guy werewolves, is searching for Bethi. So when he finds her and she seems to know what he is and runs, he is understandably upset because he knows that Bethi is his mate and she has spurned him. So he follows her and helps her, without her knowledge. The read turns into an on the road adventure and I must say, it was both filled with action and bad moments, but it’s also the story of Luke and Bethi’s romance, eventually. The premise of this series involves two separate types of werewolves. The regular werewolves are the good ones, and the second group, Urbats, are a delusional group of werewolves that want the six women for their own nefarious reasons. Or evil reasons, whichever works. Bethi doesn’t know there are two groups, so of course she thinks Luke is going to kill her.
As with the other books in this series so far, I literally could not stop reading, so it was a very fast read for me. This is the book where the characters from the previous books all come together, so I really liked that part. Now with Bethi, they are all learning what they are and why they exist. There really is an interesting back story to their existence, and why they keep getting born again. All this added a lot to this author’s world building for me. I could have done with a little less of the dreams, and more of the romance however.
Three books in, and I already have the fourth one to read, (Un)Bidden. The main character from that book has already been introduced in both of the previous books. I recommend these books to paranormal romance readers ages 16+ due to sexual situations mentioned, but not really shown.

(Un)wise is book #3 of the Judgement of the Six paranormal clean romance series. This is Bethi’s story. Each of the six young women in this series has a powerful ability. Bethi's is wisdom; she has started having very vivid dreams, some about her own past lives, some about other women, but most about their deaths. Over and over, Bethi dreams of danger and death. She tries not to sleep, fearing more dreams.
A stranger approaches in a shopping mall, but Bethi senses danger and runs. Leaving home, she runs for her life and from her dreams. Exhaustion and lack of money allow the stranger a chance to help.
Sent to find Bethi by Gabby, Luke has a hard time getting near her; she doesn’t trust him and sees too much in her dreams. Hoping to put an end to her nightmares Bethi agrees Luke can take her to meet the others, but danger lurks and others track and attack them. Travelling on a stolen motorbike, the pair head to Canada and into the jaws of the enemy. Can Luke keep his precious cargo safe?
In this book Bethi must learn to understand the messages in her dreams; there is very little interaction from other characters. It’s Luke and Bethi on the open road and Bethi’s dreaming state. It does fill in lots of background about the sisters and their thousand year recurring cycle, with re-births and deaths constantly revolving—similar to the beliefs systems of reincarnation, where each time a person returns to earth they do so to evolve or settle an issue from a past life. Bethi sees her sisters and herself die over and over. However, as she understands her dreams she also sees the skills which each of them has learnt and how they've brought them to this lifetime.

So far, Bethi undoubtedly has the worst ability among the girls - every time she dreams (and that happens a lot) she has nightmares - memories of past lives. In those dreams she witnesses the lives and all the awful deaths of herself and every other girl from the Judgment.
The plus side of her ability is that we now have a better understanding of what is happening in the story and what purpose this girls have.
Unfortunately, I absolutely did not like Bethi as a heroine. She annoyed me throughout the whole book with her behavior In general and toward Luke specifically. The only reason she decided to claim him was for her personal gain (at least in the first half of the book) and she did not consider anyone else's feelings. And I did not see any chemistry between Luke and Bethi, which was unfortunate.
But, despite my opinion of the MC, I still very much liked the book. I really like the story as a whole and direction where this is all going.

Wow. Just wow. Ok. This series has me. So many questions. So much information. Wow. I was a little annoyed that there was so much more innuendo and tongue kissing. I wanted my daughter to read these. Not so much any more. I do wish the book would be from everyone's perspective. Ready for book 4. Except it probably won't be about peace and I wish it was.

WOW... this book was just... wow... It's official, this might just be my close-to-favorite-series.
I'm at lost for words. AMAZING!
Now the story is getting interesting. This book answered most of my questions. My confusion level is below my belly button now - so... half?
Bethi and Luke were hilarious and cute. This book did not follow the same route as book one and two. For once, the girl pursued the guy. I also like that Melissa kept the book PG-13.
The epilogue had me like... Carlos whattttt???? I can't wait to read about Isabelle's story. I predict she'll be a badass.

O.M.G. The raw talent in this woman should make you run to get her first book and read until your eyes bleed.
Warning: I was so honored to be asked to read an ARC for an honest review, now if you are aware – or not aware, this is the third book in a series. Can’t this series be read out of order – no. And also why would you want to? All these books are fantastic – honestly, truly I can say that. Anyways so you know I am completely and utterly saying my own feelings on this book. My honest own feelings. (also if you have NOT read the first two books there will be spoilers from those books in this series – it cannot be helped – but there will be NO spoilers for this book)
Song Choice: “Dreamer” by Uh Huh Her, “Heart Skipped a Beat” by The XX.
First Thoughts: I think this might be my favorite Melissa book, – I think. I am not sure I really, truly still love Hope(less). So wonderful…but the great thing about Melissa is that she creates whole new characters, and whole new plots. Yeah okay I will admit there are times when I love a series – really truly love it – but the stories are strikingly similar to the last. Melissa manages every time to give us not only new characters, but whole new adventures.
Thoughts on Plot: So like I mentioned up there, whole new plot for us. There is a lot of action in this book, in Hope(less) we get a lot of Clay and Gabby together, trying to figure each other, but while it wasn’t running, cars, fights kind of action there was a different sort of movement in that book. (Mis) Fortunate was also a bit less action-y then this book but still awesome, still amazing. Anyways this, was magnificent. This was mix of humor, very, very serious topics, and amazing characters to boot – we will get to them and I am excited to, so very excited. This book we get to tie in the last ones, we are learning a lot of new stuff, but while everything isn’t completely laid out for you like a-b-c, it’s all there, and it all comes together and I swear I had a thousand – excuse the stereotype – blonde moments and I was hitting my forehead going, well duh! How did I not see that! There is so much new, awesome things we learn and I don’t think we ever really get “lost” or left behind, we are right there with the characters, figuring it out as they do – does that make sense? I hope so. Totally awesome. I loved it. I LOVED IT I LOVED IT. Okay trying to calm myself. (I loved it) I blew right through this the pacing was amazing, and I wanted to read it in one sitting, the one sitting meaning no reasons for getting but darn life, and need for sleep! *shakes fist*. So in a nutshell – Melissa seriously every book just tops the last, and I mean the bar was pretty fucking high as it was. (I mean come on – Clay? How could anyone top that?)

Bethi: Okay I will admit I was a little worried, she is the youngest girl we have read about. Pfft what a stupid thought really. She is – and I am sorry to say this to the other girls – she is my favorite out of them so far. Oh my god. She was amazing far more wise (get it? Anyways) then her age. She is also beyond FUNNY, she is sassy, quick to wit. But there is so much to her. She just such a 3 dimensional characters is not even funny. She is funny, she is wise, she is tormented. But above all things she is strong. I don’t even know really how to begin to describe how awesome Bethi is, she really does put everyone else’s well-being above her own she makes the hard choices, and does what needs to be done, and with a certain Bethi flare. She is – seriously I am in love with her. Amazing, amazing MC.
Luke: You stubborn, stubborn man. I wants him. Okay maybe not as much as I want Clay – or possibly Carlos – hello hottie….anyways getting off track here (Melissa you just make too many swoony men how is a person supposed to choose just one?). So anyways he was the one that would joke with her but was also very respectful, and protective. I really liked Luke though some things I just couldn’t see his reasonings for he does get over it. Thank God. Anyways Luke, Luke, Luke <3
The ending: I need more. I need more. I don’t think you understand there is something totally awesome about getting an ARC and something totally horrible as well – I have wait even LONGER for the next one!!! UGH that is my only complaint. :D Loved this book.

She is – and I am sorry to say this to the other girls – she is my favorite out of them so far. Oh my god. She was amazing far more wise (get it? Anyways) then her age. She is also beyond FUNNY, she is sassy, quick to wit. But there is so much to her. She just such a 3 dimensional characters is not even funny. She is funny, she is wise, she is tormented. But above all things she is strong. I don’t even know really how to begin to describe how awesome Bethi is, she really does put everyone else’s well-being above her own she makes the hard choices, and does what needs to be done, and with a certain Bethi flare. She is – seriously I am in love with her. Amazing, amazing MC.
Luke: You stubborn, stubborn man. I wants him. Okay maybe not as much as I want Clay – or possibly Carlos – hello hottie….anyways getting off track here (Melissa you just make too many swoony men how is a person supposed to choose just one?). So anyways he was the one that would joke with her but was also very respectful, and protective. I really liked Luke though some things I just couldn’t see his reasonings for he does get over it. Thank God. Anyways Luke, Luke, Luke <3
The ending: I need more. I need more. I don’t think you understand there is something totally awesome about getting an ARC and something totally horrible as well – I have wait even LONGER for the next one!!! UGH that is my only complaint. :D Loved this book.

I agree with most of my opinions on my lack of connection with Bethi, and with the romance between Bethi and Luke. From a “installment in the overall series” standpoint, this book is a standout! We learn SO MUCH, and I’m super intrigued about what the Judgements are, what their purpose is (we get a bit of that), and what’s going to happen in the future!
But from a fall in love with the MCs standpoint, this one was lacking a teeny tiny bit. It definitely isn't my favourite so far, which surprised me, but it's kind of fun knowing that Curly Carla and I have different tastes. There's a part of me that kind of wants to rate it 3.5 stars, but I think that's mostly just because I had high expectations, and wouldn't actually reflect my overall enjoyment of the book.
Bethi was a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed her sass and independence, but at times her hard shell was hard to get past. It's so hard, b/c I understand why she is the way she is -- how could you not end up that way with what she's learning and experiencing in her dreams? And her fear of the werewolves prevents her from feeling all of her emotions because she's worried they will detect them on her...but it also prevents me, as a reader, from truly getting a feel for her. There were these aspects of her that I guess I almost wanted to explore, or needed to know more of to truly connect with her. It was like we were only given a shallow glimpse at times, and it wasn't enough for me. So while I thought she was fantastic, she isn't my favourite so far.
But saying that, I LOVED her gift and what it gave us as readers. I learned so much in this story!! And it was frightening and horrifying and confusing. But I feel like I have a better grip as a whole on where this story is going and what's been going on so far. I will say that I am of two minds with the sheer number of dreams/flashbacks we received. I really enjoyed getting to see glimpses of how the different abilities affected the girls throughout their different lifetimes. I also felt like this really drove home the evilness of the Urbat and what they are doing and wanting to achieve...so much disgust. And I loved getting glimpses into the current incarnations of the other sisters and what they felt growing up. But it got to be a bit much at times. Like, I'm torn. I enjoyed everything I got, but a part of me feels like it was overdone...but then which dreams would I eliminate, you know? Ugh.
And that brings me to Luke. *sigh* Can I admit I was a little disappointed? Luke showed so much personality in Hope(less), and I really feel like we were shortchanged in this novel. BUT. But. But I've been enjoying the companion series, so I'm wondering if when she got to this book she already knew she would be writing the companion series, and so she left a lot for that book? I just don't feel like I know Luke at all, and I get that there is a pull there, but I felt like he was a secondary character in this novel at times. Now don't get me wrong, I ADORED his quiet protection for the first half of the story. He really has his work cut out for him. But I felt like something was missing in the romance area. It felt like Bethi just needed him, and that all that was connecting them was the pull. I would have liked a bit more...something...in the romance department.

This one, by far, is my favorite book in the series. and I’ve noticed a pattern with myself. The third book, generally, is most often my favorite. I don’t know why. I’m guessing because the story is established and I have a connection with the characters and the third book usually has the most information relating to the progression of the story.
That’s not why this is my favorite. The MC, Bethi, (I don’t think the name fits, never did but whatevs) is a badass. She is prob the most tortured and she’s also the youngest. Shes got the best powers, I think, even though she is the most tortured. I was wondering how the author was going to do it too and she nailed it. She is like the lore holder or the bard. She relives all the past lives and feels what they feel. It’s a terribly important gift she has.
I love her snarky attitude, she’s hella sarcastic. She would have to be I guess, you can��t take too much seriously when everytime you go to sleep you die a violent death. And Luke is fricking adorable. He just kinda lets her get her aggression out while at the same time understanding that its not directed at him but at the situation. He trying to be all virtuous and chilvalrous and she’s just not having it. I totally dig a woman is not afraid to make the first move. I think that their easy going banter back and forth regarding the bite and the claiming was hilarious.

Gahhhh! I hate Melissa Haag. No thats an absolute lie, I adore her, but if I read one more cliff hanger from her, I am going to die of anticipation!
Saying that, you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I received the email from Melissa saying that her third book of the Judgement of Six series was coming out. I knew without a doubt in my mind that there was going to be a cliffhanger at the end, it kills me every time. You got me hooked Melissa Haag, you got me hooked.
This is my fourth time reviewing for Melissa, and I must say, her books get better and better each time. If you look back at Hope(less) or (Mis)fortune, you can really see that those books were really the foundation for this one... and the three others yet to come. Each book sets up the next, and slowly, but surely, you get to see more and more of the big picture that Melissa paints for you. The thing is, she does it so subtly that you don't even realize whats happening until you look back and think "oh... I see what you did there!". Honestly, at first I felt a little iffy about each book chaining POVs, but Melissa has done it in such a unique and fun way that makes her story so much more alive and interesting that I can't even complain (an we all know how much of a complainer I am).
Now for some specific loves I had with (Un)wise: First and foremost, I was so happy to have this head strong character that wasn't really your classic heroine. She, unlike her previous two counterparts in the past 2 books, knew what she wanted and what she needed to do to get there. She was also the only girl who wasn't so hesitant about getting in her destined relationship... and it was about time! Next, and probably more importantly, as a reader, I finally got to see the puzzle coming together. You are given some crucial information about the girls and their abilities. You get to see more about the enemy, who they are (kind of) and what they want (vaguely). As I read it, a light bulb just went off over my head and I finally understood so much. I absolutely cannot WAIT until the next book to see what new puzzle pieces I can find.

This series is a must for lovers of paranormal and supernatural books. It's shifters with an extra layer of awesome on top. Melissa Haag packs quick whit, romantic hotties and a whirlwind of action to every book. The love stories are a slow paced and believable. So addicting, that you can not help but turn to the next page, just to see the couple's next interaction. The best part, you don't finish the book feeling dumber than you were when you started. (Yes, I have read several books lately that I think took my IQ down a notch or two.) My brain is always full of questions and speculations as to what is going to happen in the next installment. Each book is unique, yet intertwined. If you haven't read the first book, Hope(less) yet, please do yourself a favor and pick it up. By the time you get to the end, you will be craving more.
This book is just as phenomenal, if not better, than the first two. I don't like to get into specifics in reviews, because I don't want to give too much away. Those left with questions from the first two will be happy to know that a lot of things start falling into place. We get to see cameos from some of our favorites and meet a few new favorites along the way.
This is a series that both teens and adults will enjoy. The intimacy is limited to stolen kisses and flirty touches and yet, leaves you burning for more. Well, maybe there is a bit more in this book, but nothing is detailed out. ;) The characters range from late teens to mid twenties and for the most part, very mature personalities.

(Un)Wise is an Exciting story full of heart stopping action darkness betrayal mystery and sweet romance! Bethi & Luke's chemistry totally sizzles! I got love drunk on this book hooked from the first page and did not want it to end! Best yet in The Judgement series!!!

Alright, I'm done. Not going to make it through to book 4, 5, or 6. This one went too far off the rails. This whole book was the main character dreaming/having memories of the past until she meets up with the full pack and then the serious eye rolling starts. This girl is 17 but she pretty much takes everything over and starts giving orders without giving any true answers. She was so annoying. I wanted to say, Damn, just give her to the Urbat (rivals of the werewolves). Poor Luke, he got the short end of the stick when it comes to mates. The ending was the absolute straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. The next book's MCs are introduced and it's a total clusterfrak. I mean the dude changes into his fur right in front of an entire bar full of people and little Bethi from this book thinks its a good idea that they go public anyway. That pretty much turned me off the whole thing.
So, I'm going to read the first three books from the dudes' perspectives and see if those are any better, although most chics do not get dude POVs right.

I hate how these books end just as they seem to be getting good. The characters are finally coming together, then POOF, their story is over.
As I began this book, with my tbr pile ever growing, I wondered if I was getting tired of this series. But the book picked up and by the end had completely sucked me in. I'm disappointed to learn that the next book doesn't follow chronologically but backtracks to pick up Charlene's story. I was really excited at the prospect of the hero's story with Peace. But I'll have to wait and get thru the next book if I want to get to his story.
Anyway, the heroine in this story definitely ages beyond her years. Not quite 18 and she's directing the wolves. I was mildly dissatisfied with the wolves sheepish behavior toward the end, acting like the elders were completely lost and passive. Still, I liked the story, loved the couple.

Right off the bat I was annoyed over the completely unnecessary "girl kiss". Luckily it never came back into play and was easy to move past. So many things to like about this series but so many things keeping it from being great as well. I wasn't as bothered by unnecessary information in this one. The pace felt more consistent but still had moments where I thought "huh, that large issue resolved itself rather quickly" or "where is she going with this?". I liked Bethi the least of all the leading ladies so far. She is courageous but also a frightened brat, but her personality fits with her age and experiences. Still a little confusing in places but it's all starting to come together.

A quick read. I've read the first 3 books in the series now & while I don't think they are the best stories ever written, they are unique and enjoyable. I would give each of them a 3.5. Not wonderful, but good enough that I'll work my way through the series to find out what happens.

I honestly don’t really know what I feel about this book. For the most part I liked it, but at the same time it also found ways to slightly annoy me and test my patience over and over again. One thing is for sure though, Unwise definitely was better than the previous Misfortune and left an impression on me, whether good or bad.
I dare say that this book was the opposite of the previous book. Sure, both lead characters were running for their lives and under constant fear of getting caught. That’s where the similarities ended though and that’s really a good thing. Because where Misfortune was slow and stood still in one place, Unwise’s storyline was constantly on the move, filled with action, twists and drama. It simply had that deeper plot and characterization that I didn’t get from Misfortune and I am really glad that it took it to the next level. The constant duress, fear and running brought out Bethi’s and Luke’s personalities and not only helped form a relationship better, but also made the development thrilling with the mistrust, sparkling attraction, tenseness, arguments and of course the sweeter moments. Although I at some points would have liked the characters to react a bit deeper to what the other did, the relationship was pretty well executed and just what I enjoy in a good romance.
One thing tough that didn’t fully make sense to me was Luke’s stubborn morality to wait until she turned eighteen. Sure, it would have made sense if she was like fourteen or fifteen, but three months away from turning eighteen?That’s just ridiculous, especially considering how beneficial and necessary it was for Bethi. He never once explained why he wanted to wait which made it even more frustrating when he let her suffer from all the death dreams just for his own illogical morals. And speaking of the dreams, they were not only absolute nightmares for her, but for me as the reader too with the sheer volume and repetitiveness of them.
It was her gift/burden, I get it. But why did it have to be the readers as well? Don’t get me wrong, the dreams gave a lot of context clues and important information to the past and the plot, as well as the other characters. My problem however was how overdone it was with a dream in every chapter ... no, actually around three dreams in every chapter. It was way way too much and took a lot of joy out of the story for me with dreams constantly interrupting the plot. Some dreams I was okay with, like maybe three or four showing her different deaths, maybe two with the Taupe lady and then the ones with the other girls. The rest could have been skipped or just mentioned in passing so that the story could have flowed naturally. As it was the dreams were like commercials on TV interrupting regular scheduled programming every five minutes. No one likes commercials.
Minus the dreams I am happy with the story. I mean, sometimes Bethi got on my nerves being a bit too rude and ungrateful, and it felt off that grown up leaders out of nowhere took orders from a teenage girl they just met, no questions asked. Even stranger and unrealistic was Luke and Bethi winning fights against an enemy outnumbering them and being genetically way superior to Bethi. And finally, Luke could have had some backstory to him. All in all however these were all minor issues for me and did not take that much away from the story excitement-wise. Overall, it worked out very well and I especially liked to see the previous main characters get involved in the plot. It built up to a very impactful and thrilling ending, making me anticipate the next book in the series with high expectations. This book lands on four stars.
I dare say that this book was the opposite of the previous book. Sure, both lead characters were running for their lives and under constant fear of getting caught. That’s where the similarities ended though and that’s really a good thing. Because where Misfortune was slow and stood still in one place, Unwise’s storyline was constantly on the move, filled with action, twists and drama. It simply had that deeper plot and characterization that I didn’t get from Misfortune and I am really glad that it took it to the next level. The constant duress, fear and running brought out Bethi’s and Luke’s personalities and not only helped form a relationship better, but also made the development thrilling with the mistrust, sparkling attraction, tenseness, arguments and of course the sweeter moments. Although I at some points would have liked the characters to react a bit deeper to what the other did, the relationship was pretty well executed and just what I enjoy in a good romance.
One thing tough that didn’t fully make sense to me was Luke’s stubborn morality to wait until she turned eighteen. Sure, it would have made sense if she was like fourteen or fifteen, but three months away from turning eighteen?That’s just ridiculous, especially considering how beneficial and necessary it was for Bethi. He never once explained why he wanted to wait which made it even more frustrating when he let her suffer from all the death dreams just for his own illogical morals. And speaking of the dreams, they were not only absolute nightmares for her, but for me as the reader too with the sheer volume and repetitiveness of them.
It was her gift/burden, I get it. But why did it have to be the readers as well? Don’t get me wrong, the dreams gave a lot of context clues and important information to the past and the plot, as well as the other characters. My problem however was how overdone it was with a dream in every chapter ... no, actually around three dreams in every chapter. It was way way too much and took a lot of joy out of the story for me with dreams constantly interrupting the plot. Some dreams I was okay with, like maybe three or four showing her different deaths, maybe two with the Taupe lady and then the ones with the other girls. The rest could have been skipped or just mentioned in passing so that the story could have flowed naturally. As it was the dreams were like commercials on TV interrupting regular scheduled programming every five minutes. No one likes commercials.
Minus the dreams I am happy with the story. I mean, sometimes Bethi got on my nerves being a bit too rude and ungrateful, and it felt off that grown up leaders out of nowhere took orders from a teenage girl they just met, no questions asked. I really love stories about werewolves and I like stories about werewolves and their mates even more. It's something about the fact that mates are true loves, fated and have an unbreakable bound, it's the ultimate love. I will be lying if I said that I did want a mate of my own, to have a true true love, that is one of the reasons I love the Judgement of Six series.
Hope(less), the first book in the Judgement of Six series, was one of those books and after reading that I feel hard for the series. The world was interesting, the plot was good and different, there was a lot of mystery, some action and not the romance that I expected but a true love that is powerful. I loved Gabby and Clay, there was the pull of being mates but not instalove (although I have no problem with instalove). Because of Clay's stubbornness he and Gabby got to know each other and in turn fall in love.
Each book follows a different couple, focuses on their story but also ties into the main story and brings in characters from the previous book. One thing about Melissa is that so far in every story the couples may have the mate pull but they got to know each other before they did anything about that pull. (Un)Wise follows Luke and Bethi and their story is just as interesting and compelling as the others books. Not only does it tie into all the other stories so far but it reveals big truths that were nothing but a bunch of mysteries before this book.
The relationship between Luke and Bethi is so funny, I can't go into detail because I don't want to reveal anything. However I can tell you that Bethi has a temper while Luke takes things in stride and they both know how to push the other's button you can tell the care that they start to take with each other. However there are most definitely moments that I couldn't help but smile or laugh because of their reactions to certain situations, for example Mount Fuji and you are just going to have to read in order find out what I mean.
I am not going to lie there is a lot of violence mentioned in this book and other things that could be triggers for people so consider this a warning.
(Un)Wise was such a good addition to the series there was action, comedy, romance, danger and mystery. That's right I might have had some questions answered but I now have more questions. I loved seeing the characters from the other books and how (Un)Wise ended I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I also will be reading the companion book to this one, Luke's Dream is (Un)Wise told from Luke's pov. Melissa has done this with all the books in the series and it is one of my favorite things ever.

Christmas Britain from speech to text so please bear with the grammatical errors hated this book in this book the main character is constantly dreaming she dreams until at least halfway through the book before any true plot is created so the first half of the book is just a jumble Mumble of dreams that yes they give you hints to what has happened in the past why they are there but it is all horrible read the second part that upset me was that they discussed making their werewolves selves public to humans personally I really don't like that type of a theme in a werewolf book yes it makes sense for it to be a common theme but to me it gets rid of the mystery and the excitement of being a werewolf or knowing about the werewolves cuz it's a secret thing and that's part it like so to expose them to humans it just reminds me of how make believe it is and how it really isn't that way in this world and so it takes me out of my imagination setting for the book and I love to live in a book did I say I hated this book because I really did even the second half of the book where there is a plot to it it's not that great it's quite boring and then she does end up claiming her man and then they end up at mating but yet there's no details of it I don't know if this is a y a book it must be because there is no sex scene in it fun

I’m writing a quick review that I might update later, because I technically haven’t finished the book (I’m very nearly done). So far, I’ve liked this one a lot more than Misfortune. I haven’t done a review for Misfortune yet but it was tough for me to get through, just very slow. I’m sort of surprised that some people really didn’t like Bethi, I actually liked her a lot. Typically when it comes to kinda snappy, cynical teenage girl characters, writers go wayyy to overboard, especially with the internal dialogue, but I found her to be tough yet still likable. I also really liked her and Luke together, their chemistry felt much more palpable to me than Emmitt and Michelle’s. That being said, the fact that Bethi’s a minor and Luke is 23 was incredibly off-putting. I’d normally never read a book with that age gap, but I gave it a shot because I’m invested in the series. I have plenty of opinions on this, but for now the only other thing I’ll mention in regards to the age gap is how freakin nonsensical it was to wait for Bethi to Claim Luke. Like, by the time they both clearly had feelings for each other, it made zero sense for him to not let her Claim him because it was literally causing her pain, and Claiming is not at all the same as Mating. Like y’all don’t gotta f*ck, just let the poor girl bite you, damn.
