In the midst of a week of mourning for our family, full of tears, I'm so glad for the words of Matthew Paul Turner to remind me, and my kiddos, of God's bigger purpose and vision for this broken world.
His newest book, God Made the World, releases tomorrow. And just through tonight, if you put in any order at your favorite online retailer and pop over to his website, you can get another of his beautiful books mailed to you for free. “So use every gift, every talent or shtick. Make the world better with your God-given trick. Bring smiles to faces, show love and good graces to those who need hope in all different places.”
I’m a big fan of Matthew Paul Turner's books , but there is something extra special about this one.

Matthew Paul Turner combines the delightful rhyming rhythms of a Dr. Suess classic with the depth, intimacy, and grandeur of a C.S. Lewis. The elevated vocabulary moves children out of predictable simplicity and invites them into the beautiful world of a skillful wordsmith.

I’ve enjoyed and had special times reading all of this authors book’s to little ones. I liked that the author has used different talented illustrators to bring his books When God Made the World, When I Pray for You and When God Made You” to life. I love to read. In fact, it’s one of the things I love most in the world. Because of how much I love and value reading, I want very much for my daughters to become avid readers.
I also, more importantly, want them to become committed followers of Jesus.
As a youth worker, I want the same for the kids I have the privilege of ministering to.
Because of this desire, I’m always on the lookout for good quality children’s books that help kids encounter God in very real ways. These are harder to find than ...more

I have read each and every one of Matthew's books, and this one is absolutely my favorite. I am in love with the illustrations; Gillian Gamble really brings this story to life, and her simplicity and use of light and color has readers staring intently at each and every page.

I so wish I had this book (& all the Matthew Paul Turner books) when my kids were young, but thankfully as a Pastor I still have the opportunity to read to kids these beautiful books during worship and education times.

I preordered this book as soon and I could! I was so happy when it arrived today. I have all of MPT’s books and this one is just as amazing as the rest. It’s beautiful and heartfelt. Such vivid and delightful descriptions. It is full of so many wonderful things about our creator and His plan for us and our world. The artwork is astounding. The diversity throughout is so beautiful and important. It’s one that your children will want to read over and over again. You will too. Please buy this for y

My girls are 2 and 4. This book is longer than the ones that we usually read as it is written for kids a bit older, but they stay attentive and engaged until the last page. The illustrations are breathtaking and the portrayal of God's diverse creation sparks awe in children and adults alike.

Summary: This is a book that takes children through the journey of creation from a scientific and religious standpoint.
-This book fits this category because it is a religious book as well as the fact that the illustrations are amazing.
-The color choices of this work is really what stuck out to me, it was a very vibrant and open color palette. This led me to pay more attention to the small details of the illustrations which added to the meaning of the book overall.

This book, along with all of MPT’s previously published children’s books, is beautifully illustrated, the prose is carefully curated, and the theological takeaways apply universally to tiny and grown humans alike. Our family LOVES all of his books, and this one is no different.
It’s incredibly difficult to find theologically-focused books for children that are developmentally appropriate, not shame-inducing, and offer life-giving truths (that adult readers will inevitably benefit from, as well). ...more

This is just a sampling of the beautiful words that children's author Matthew Paul Turner shares in his newest book When God Made the World. When I heard that Matthew Paul Turner had a new book coming out, I immediately pre-ordered. He has become an absolute beacon to those of us who work with children. He is a voice I’ve come to trust through his body of work. And then I began the wait... not so patiently. When the book arrived at my church, I tore into it, and looked around for a child to share those first moments with me - only to realize that at 10:00 AM on a Tuesday in a downtown cathedral, there weren’t any kiddos. So I opened

I have copies of all three of MPT's other children's storybooks. They all have a nice rhyming format that rolls along for an easy read aloud to my classes. I absolutely love his last book, When I Pray for You, and so I eagerly ordered my copy of this latest offering. --It is adorable! It tells the story of creation in an unhurried rhyme. But, one of my favorite parts is the work of illustrator Gillian Gamble. -There are so many different kinds of children presented in the illustrations! It is in

I was instantly drawn to this book’s gorgeous cover. I knew I was going to be reading something lovely, lyrical, and vibrant. And, let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Gillian Gamble’s artwork is wonderful. I found myself pausing on each page just to soak in each detail, from flowers, to animals, to wispy clouds. The story is set up in rhyming couplets, which, although the meter made me stumble here and there, I found fast-paced and soothing to read aloud. I like how each page takes us to an

Yesterday I received my copy of Matthew Paul Turner's new book When God Made the World, and it's awesome! My boys and I read it immediately and ended up talking (and laughing) for a half hour about how big God must be to have made all that stuff. It prompted 2 vital theological conversations on our very first read-through: "Why would God ever make a volcano?" And, "Is God even bigger than a Giganto Monster's butt?"

A boy at night...stars and light….a dream, a ship, a wonder-filled trip…..When God Made the World is a joyful journey through creation. The lyrical rhymes and captivating illustrations weave a glorious story of the beauty of the Earth --from planets and seas, to mountains and trees, and “people like you and me.” This book is appealing on so many levels. The teacher in me sees the depth of vocabulary and the diversity of the characters. The grandma in me can’t wait to share this with my grandchil

I'm very sad to say that I do not recommend this book to anybody. I used to like the author's book, "When God Made You," but updated my review on that when I re-read it recently. I still mostly like his "When I Pray For You" but this new book, "When God Made the World," has made me realize what kind of person Matthew Paul Turner really is. He lives a progressive type of "Christianity," supports false teachers and promotes agendas through the cutesy text of his children's books. You'll likely jus

This is an amazing book with wonderful illustrations. It is Biblically accurate about the story of creation, told in a way that will attract children and help them to remember the awesomeness of God and the diversity of His creation. I loved the illustrations; each page was an adventure to see and a wonder to behold. I enjoyed the way the story of creation unfolded with rhymes and vocabulary to expand a child’s world. I highly recommend this for all parents, grandparents, for anyone who wants to

He loves the colorful pictures and smiles when I read to him. We've read to him since he was itty bitty, so he is used to it. I love the illustrations and the message of the story even more!! Great addition to your library if you enjoyed the Jesus Story Book Bible (which is unrelated to this book, but also has great theology and pictures, in my opinion).
