In the midst of a week of mourning for our family, full of tears, I'm so glad for the words of Matthew Paul Turner to remind me, and my kiddos, of God's bigger purpose and vision for this broken world.

His newest book, God Made the World, releases tomorrow. And just through tonight, if you put in any order at your favorite online retailer and pop over to his website, you can get another of his beautiful books mailed to you for free. The illustrations in this one feature work by Gillian Gamble an

Matthew Paul Turner combines the delightful rhyming rhythms of a Dr. Suess classic with the depth, intimacy, and grandeur of a C.S. Lewis. The elevated vocabulary moves children out of predictable simplicity and invites them into the beautiful world of a skillful wordsmith.

When God Made the World is a joy to read aloud and the charming illustrations are worthy of repeated examination. This book feeds the appetite of thirsty young minds, plants se

I’ve enjoyed and had special times reading all of this authors book’s to little ones. I liked that the author has used different talented illustrators to bring his books When God Made the World, When I Pray for You and When God Made You” to life. Each of these stories has its own unique tale as the reader journeys through these lovely pages.

This newest picture book is no exception. Gillian Gamble beautifully illustrates. Matthew Paul Turner’s story of how the world began and all the fascinating

"Cause all of creation whispers God's story - the mountains, the ocean, the blue morning glory . . . . . Cause when God made the world and the world started spinning, the story God wrote was just a beginning."

With a seemingly inexhaustible storehouse of poetic creativity, Matthew Paul Turner has penned yet another outstanding children's book!

I love to read. In fact, it’s one of the things I love most in the world. Because of how much I love and value reading, I want very much for my daughters to become avid readers.

I also, more importantly, want them to become committed followers of Jesus.

As a youth worker, I want the same for the kids I have the privilege of ministering to.

Because of this desire, I’m always on the lookout for good quality children’s books that help kids encounter God in very real ways. These are harder to find than

I have read each and every one of Matthew's books, and this one is absolutely my favorite. I am in love with the illustrations; Gillian Gamble really brings this story to life, and her simplicity and use of light and color has readers staring intently at each and every page.

Matthew's always been great with rhythm and language play in his books, but I really like how this book changes the rhyme pattern throughout. It keeps things moving and flowing in such a catchy, natural way, that listeners f

I so wish I had this book (& all the Matthew Paul Turner books) when my kids were young, but thankfully as a Pastor I still have the opportunity to read to kids these beautiful books during worship and education times.

I’m so thankful that this book exists as creation is one of the stories that captures children’s imaginations over and over and they always want to know how they fit into creation.

This book reflects my theology of a loving God that I want to pass along to the children I teach. Th

Summary: This is a book that takes children through the journey of creation from a scientific and religious standpoint.
-This book fits this category because it is a religious book as well as the fact that the illustrations are amazing.
-The color choices of this work is really what stuck out to me, it was a very vibrant and open color palette. This led me to pay more attention to the small details of the illustrations which added to the meaning of the book overall.

This book, along with all of MPT’s previously published children’s books, is beautifully illustrated, the prose is carefully curated, and the theological takeaways apply universally to tiny and grown humans alike. Our family LOVES all of his books, and this one is no different.

It’s incredibly difficult to find theologically-focused books for children that are developmentally appropriate, not shame-inducing, and offer life-giving truths (that adult readers will inevitably benefit from, as well).

And just like a star might showcase God's light or a waterfall give us a sign of God's might, the same could be said of me and of you---how we live, how we love, tells God's story too.

This is just a sampling of the beautiful words that children's author Matthew Paul Turner shares in his newest book When God Made the World. Once again he is able to captivate children as he teaches them and, this time, it is God's Creation story that he explores in this 48-page book. Turner's rhyming text and the

When I heard that Matthew Paul Turner had a new book coming out, I immediately pre-ordered. He has become an absolute beacon to those of us who work with children. He is a voice I’ve come to trust through his body of work. And then I began the wait... not so patiently. When the book arrived at my church, I tore into it, and looked around for a child to share those first moments with me - only to realize that at 10:00 AM on a Tuesday in a downtown cathedral, there weren’t any kiddos. So I opened ...more

I have copies of all three of MPT's other children's storybooks. They all have a nice rhyming format that rolls along for an easy read aloud to my classes. I absolutely love his last book, When I Pray for You, and so I eagerly ordered my copy of this latest offering. --It is adorable! It tells the story of creation in an unhurried rhyme. I was instantly drawn to this book’s gorgeous cover. I knew I was going to be reading something lovely, lyrical, and vibrant. And, let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Gillian Gamble’s artwork is wonderful. I found myself pausing on each page just to soak in each detail, from flowers, to animals, to wispy clouds. The story is set up in rhyming couplets, which, although the meter made me stumble here and there, I found fast-paced and soothing to read aloud. I like how each page takes us to an ...more

Yesterday I received my copy of Matthew Paul Turner's new book When God Made the World, and it's awesome! My boys and I read it immediately and ended up talking (and laughing) for a half hour about how big God must be to have made all that stuff. It prompted 2 vital theological conversations on our very first read-through: "Why would God ever make a volcano?" And, "Is God even bigger than a Giganto Monster's butt?"

- Don't worry, there are no Giganto Monster butts in the book itself, my boys are

I'm very sad to say that I do not recommend this book to anybody. I used to like the author's book, "When God Made You," but updated my review on that when I re-read it recently. I still mostly like his "When I Pray For You" but this new book, "When God Made the World," has made me realize what kind of person Matthew Paul Turner really is. He lives a progressive type of "Christianity," supports false teachers and promotes agendas through the cutesy text of his children's books. You'll likely jus ...more
