I’m one of the most alluring creatures in the world.
A siren.
One of seven princesses of Lacuna.
But I wanted more than that, so much more than the trinkets I stowed in my caverns. I wanted my own piece of the world.
And I got it.
However with that wish came a price, and that price came with secrets.
Two of which should never have been able to s

Siren is part of the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection but is a standalone. This is a new author for me and I'm not big on the fantasy genre's but was pleasantly surprised by this.

Raw and full of angst this fairytale will certain entertain, it's intense and gritty but sometimes pretty. A tale told so often but never quite like this, you will still find yourself flipping through the pages anticipating what's to come next.

Siren is the first book I've read from Hazel Grace and she's made me a fan on her first try! It was dark and delicious, entrancing, captivating, and utterly spellbinding!

In the South Seas, mermaids are real. They lure unsuspecting travellers who venture too far or hunters who seek to kill them for fortune, with their looks and their songs... with their magic. They can be vicious and cruel, especially when it comes to protecting themselves and those they love. Dagen learns this the hard way when

I'm not gonna lie, but I was a bit scared of reading this book. There is a long time I don't dive in a new series of fairy tales or fantasy books, and I honestly don't know exactly what made me choose this one. I think this dark scenario of the little mermaid just put my curiosity on alert. And I just closed the book right now and decided to write about it because I don't want to miss this I'm feeling right now. I finished this book feeling so so so happy that this st

A FANTASTIC retelling/reimagining of Little Mermaid! A story that I absolutely LOVE, as a child and now as an adult in a new twisted dark way. I was ready to throw my Kindle at one point; at another, I was sure this couldn't be a romance, but in the end, I got my HEA!! Things may not have gone the way that I wanted them to go, but this story was absolutely GRIPPING, beautiful, sexy, fun, twisted, and a home run for Hazel Graze!

A very slow, shaky start but with an amazing ending that made it all worth while.

The last 30% or so of this book was 5 stars all the way. Sadly the first 40% dragged sooooooooo much that, despite this being an arc read, if I hadn't agreed to lead a Book of the Month discussion on it I would have DNF'd it. I am SO VERY GLAD that I stuck with the book because the second half was absolutely amazing. This was where we got ALL the steamy action, this is where the plot picked up pace, this is where al

soooo... I liked it but didn't love it as I hoped!!
I think my main issue is with pacing, it makes it hard to be more involved with the story...
this book has one of the things I dislike in books (view spoiler) but I didn't mind it much.. there is also a twist I didn't see coming which was amazing and I do like the unique take on little mermaid..
I think if you are looking for a darker retelling you might give this a chance...

This was an okay read for me. This book was part of a series of standalone dark fairy tale reads and this one was a take on "The Little Mermaid" . This was my first time reading this author. This book was long and drawn out and although I thought about quitting but I didn't. Davina is a siren daughter of Titan. This book turned into a love triangle between Darvina and her best friend Tobias and Dagen who is a hot sexy viking. I felt that this book could have been a lot shorter. This book was ...more

Maybe I'm giving up too early but this book is just not working for me. It's nothing really wrong with it. I actually found the beginning to be very interesting and intriguing. But honestly, I'm pretty bored now and it doesn't seem likely that anything exciting is about to happen in the near future. Also, it's not helping that I'm just not feeling anyone of the three MCs.

So after some consideration (with the help of 924 books glaring at me from my tbr) I decided to DNF it. Life's too shor

The Sinister Fairy Tale Collection is a collection of fairy tale retellings with a dark and sinister spin. Out of the ten books in this collection, there are three that have my attention the most and Siren is at the top of that list.

About Siren:

Three years ago, Davina made a deal with the sea witch to protect her people with an island invisible to those who don't carry the gift. In doing so, she rightfully handed over the one thing she cherished most of all. Her voice. Davina may be the youngest

Well, I want to have nothing but good things to say about this book. I am new to Hazel Grace, but have been following the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection from book 1. This is a different take on this fairy tale for sure. While over all I enjoyed the story I struggled reading it. I just couldn't get into it as much as other books.

I did enjoy the unique characters. They were each well written. The over all writing was also very good. For me it was just a little slow moving.

Siren is no Disney remake. This one is dark and more bloody. After being stuck on an island with only one human and her sisters as company, Davina finds a Viking. This is no ordinary Viking. Dagen is mean, blood thirsty, and ruthless. Except he can't help but crush on Davina. Dark secrets, lies, and torture, Siren has it all.

I enjoyed Davina and Dagen. Tobias was a little annoying to me. Davina is pretty badass. She's tough and not afraid to do what she must to get the answers she needs. Dagen

You ever read a book, and are just so completely consumed, that you just cant let it go?

Siren is that book for me!!!! I cant let it go. I will not let it go!!!

Grace writes such an amazing adventure with Siren. My expectations were shattered. My heart was decimated. I smiled. I laughed. I cried. I shouted. I begged for more.

I'm still begging for more. That's how much this story means to me. It is by far my favorite of the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection.

When Dagen happens upon an island, he learns he shouldn't be there, shouldn't even be able to see this island. And its inhabitants make it known he's an invasive, unwanted being. But out of all the lovely mermaid sisters who come to taunt him, there's one who instantly stands out - Davina, the redhead siren who will soon come to hold his heart in her sly little hands.

If you're looking for a sweet but modern take on The Little Mermaid, move on, because Siren isn't sweet. Nope. It's a bit

Well, I don't think this fairytale will ever be the same again... I've mentioned I am not a fairytale child, well I never really was but, of course, I knew them this tale... The Little Mermaid. I went into this not knowing what to expect.. This is my first book by this author, and I can tell you now that it won't be my last. Well, Hazel Grace threw me into what would have to one of the best retellings in this series so far and I know I keep saying that, but with each book I read the more shocked ...more

So , if you hadn’t figure it out on your own yet, Siren is part of the Dark Fairy Retelling's, and it is based off of The Little Mermaid! So, that along made me want to read Hazel's work.
This book was addicting and it certainly grabbed my attention.

Davina, our main female character, wanted to protect her family, and decided to go to the sea witch to garner some help in keeping those she loves, out of harms way. The sea witch decides she wanted to cut a deal. &What the sea witch wanted from her i

Siren is a fantastic, enchanting and dark re-telling of The Little Mermaid. Take everything you know about Ariel and chuck it out the window. Davina, she is the star of this book, along with her sisters, Dagen, and Tobias. I am addicted and want more!!!

There were so many incredible moments in this book. The relationship and banter between Davina and the other Princesses of Lacuna is so funny

This is a retelling of The Little Mermaid. Now take everything you know about that and throw it out the window. I tried to enjoy this story, but it fell short for me, I hate it when I feel that way about a book. I couldn't get behind the storyline and the main characters... I guess I was expecting something a little darker.
There were things I did like. I liked how Davina communicated, and how loyal she was to her family. She proves time and time again she will do anything for them. Dagen's chara

Absolute MUST READ!!! The Little Mermaid was one of my all time favorite Disney movies growing up and this was an amazing adult retelling of the story. It kept me on my toes and I couldn't put it down! I was in a major book funk after I finished it, it was THAT GOOD!!!

Siren by Hazel Grace is part of the Sinister Fairy Tale collection. This is a dark retailing of The Little Mermaid. Dagen has traveled looking for an item that is to be a treasure of sorts. This leads him to and uncharted island that has mermaids. This was a really good dark fantasy read.

Slow paced and a lot of pushing and pulling without getting to the point.
It felt like the author just wanted to fill the pages with the same words over and over.
It’s an overall good tale but I feel it could have been told with less words. I wasn’t wholly captivated by the story.

This book does not leave you wanting more because it's a brilliant take on the little mermaid. It is dark, twisted a bloody. I couldn't help but be captivated and quickly turning the page to see what would happen between Davina and Dagen next. Hazel has created a brilliant story within this island setting. A great addition to this collection.

What a fantastic addition to the Sinister Fairytales!

This was the retelling of The Little Mermaid but you can throw all that you remember out the window because this is a wildly different tale. It was imaginative, the world that Ms. Grace create was unique and was really well planned out. Davina is our Ariel, a mermaid, and a siren. She is on the perfect island for Sirens but it came with a price. No one but a Siren is allowed to enter and she can never leave. But there is an exception to the no

This is definitely NOT the animated princess of the sea who wanted more, but this is definitely more and it was all kinds of crazy fun, with a good dose of dark thrown into the mix and a small hope that we will visit this world again.

Our ‘little mermaid’ is all kinds of fierce. She will do anything to protect those she loves, even if it goes against the grain. And then there is her ‘prince’ he may just be a little more blood thirsty ~ in certain ways ~ but he is charming

Siren, the latest novel in the Sinister Fairytales Collection is a dark retelling of The Little Mermaid, however the author has taken it in an entirely different direction including pirates and viking into the story. The first half of the book I felt was a bit slow however the second half was excellent and I'm so glad I stuck with it. This second half was fast paced, action-packed and steamy with twists and turns you won't see coming. With an intriguing cast of characters, and a unique storyline ...more

After discovering this collection of dark retellings of classic fairytales through The Cold Queen, I knew the next one I would get lost in would be Siren. I didn’t know this author but I did know my love & fascination with all things mermaids (I mean the entire front of my thigh is covered with a large Ariel tattoo lol), made this feel like something made for someone like me. Siren by Hazel Grace certainly tasted the limits of how far dark retelling of a classic fairy tale can be taken. And I would say she has turned the story upside down keeping the essentials very successfully. This is a dark, twisted and deviant fantasy romance with surprisingly relatable characters and intense emotions.

This is a tale of the daughters of Triton, king of the sea. And Davina, the red haired beauty is the central characters. Forget about the sweet and innocent mermaids. Davina and he

This was a strong story that had likable character, good world building and overall a original retelling of one of my favorite classics, the Little Mermaid. It had a couple of nuances that kept it from being a five star read,
-the pacing was a little slow (but it didn't feel like I was dragging myself to read it)
-there are dark scenes but the overall tone just wasn't that dark to me.
-the twist, while it surprised me I don't think it was explained very well.
