Once upon a time…
Isn't that how love stories begin?
Not this time. This is not a love story.

This is the untold story of Sleeping Beauty and how Princess Arianna of Graeline was conceived out of darkness and lies.

Born into a kingdom on the brink of disaster, she remains hidden away from the world as protection against a vengeful curse.

A love curse.

Malevolence has invaded the land of mystery, and the dark mage has decided it’s time to collect on her favor. The price…

The princess.

Until the king calls for a savior. Or two?

Asher “Apollo” McCall and Matthew “Ares” Norbury have worked countless missions together. Named after the Greek gods they resembled, they were considered the biggest and baddest until tragedy struck. Their team was slaughtered and they were left for dead.

Neither man ever foresaw a life of peace, but gazing into the eyes of the young, defiant princess for the first time, they catch a glimpse of what could become their world.

How far will they go to make the enigmatic royal theirs?

Kidnapping.

Torture.

Imprisonment.

Can these two "princes" beat the odds, save the princess, and live happily ever after?

Or is Arianna destined to die, imprisoned by a curse out of control?

Unknown Binding

A very Sinister Fairy Tale indeed!

This was a very enjoyable dark retelling of sleeping beauty, though she doesn’t really sleep like in the original fairy tale it was the magic in her that was asleep for so long in this fairy tale. I liked this story although there were a few things that I could have done without. Though there were also many things I liked, so let me try to get this together without giving too much away.

There is an island Kingdom between Ireland and Scotland called Graeline, and it is unknown to most people in the modern world and it is a place that still has magic. There are dark and light mages. The King and Queen wanted a baby more than anything. When they had Princess Arianna the Queen was so happy she invited everyone to the christening including the dark mage who used the event to put a curse on the princess.

“On her eighteenth birthday, with love's first kiss, the princess, Arianna of Graeline, will fall victim to a predator unlike any ever imagined. With this singular action, the princess will be taken from this world forever.”

As Princess Arianna grew older something happened in the Kingdom and a darkness starts to grow in from her tenth birthday till her eighteenth. Arianna and her best friend the white mage Callisto overhear her father talking to a man on the phone and she finds out that girls are being stolen from the Kingdom. She and her father ask the man for help.

Asher “Apollo” McCall and his best friend Matthew “Ares” Norbury come to Graeline to help find the human traffickers that are working out of the Kingdom. They think they know who is running the ring. They have worked together on missions like this in the past. These two are the Hero’s and both are love interest’s for Arianna.

The one thing I done like about the book is that it goes pretty deep into a complex past that Apollo and Ares had working on a special ops team in Iran where the team name was Olympus and everyone on the team had the names of Greek Gods. I got the feeling that this came from a previous book that the author wrote but I couldn’t find it. It went so far as to describe each team member, their name and role and information about them.

The book goes on to describe how that mission went bad and the team was all killed except Ares and Apollo. After that Apollo started recruiting for Task Force 779. That is definitely another series that this author has written. Also there is background on Ares being framed for genocide that he didn’t commit. So I wasn’t sure all this complicated background needed to be included. Ares could have just been a battle hardened mercenary soldier and Apollo working for the Department of Justice after a shared past in special ops.

Anyway, the background did help to show that Ares and Apollo know what they are doing. I just thought it was a bit too much and too complex. It would be fine if this was the continuation of a series but I don’t think it is.

Arianna begins to think that everything bad that happens is her fault so she runs away and ends up being captured by the traffickers. Ares and Apollo, go after her. I won’t tell any more than that, but to say that this is a steamy dark romance and there is abuse. So if that is a trigger you may want to stay away.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Imprisoned is the sinister version of Sleeping Beauty.

The story takes place in the mordern world on an island Kingdom, Graeline. Graeline is small and unknown. It is a land of magic. Princess Arianna was the most wanted child of The King and The Queen. The happy couple invited everyone to celebrate Arianna's birth including a dark mage who took an opportunity to put a curse on her. As Arianna's eighteenth birthday approches the kingdom starts to get shrouded in darkness. Young girls starts to disappear.

Asher "Appolo" McCall and Mathew "Ares" Norbury, the heroes; are the best friends. They came to Graeline to find out the suspected human trafficking. They both have a dark past and have bonded through it. They both seem infatuated and protective of Arianna.

The story moves on to the adventure. Arianna, Appolo and Ares attraction was instant. She gets kidnapped and there is abuse. I didn't connect with the main characters, especially the female character. Arianna came out a tad oversmart and careless. Blaming herself for everything was getting annoying. I didn't enjoy much from this book. I liked the imaginative world and the magic. I think there is a series continued on this but I'm stopping here.

So this is part of the Sinister fairy-Tale collection.
"Imprisoned" is a modern fairy-tale retelling with a supernatural slant.
It's loosely based on Sleeping Beauty and is a menage instalove romantic suspense.
It's not a dark romance but does have some dark content included.
So it's set in the fictional kingdom of Graeline which is situated on a small independent island between Scotland and Ireland.
Arianna is the princess here and is under the influence of a curse.
There are also young girls going missing, suspected human trafficking so Matthew and Asher codenames Ares and Apollo are drafted in to discover just what is happening here.
Ares and Apollo are brothers bonded through the sheer hell they have endured they are also Ari's only chance of escaping her kidnappers when she is spirited away from her home.
This seems to tie into with another of this author's series though this is a standalone read so can be enjoyed separately.
It is told from several POV's and it did feel a tad choppy at times.
I also didn't connect that deeply with the characters involved here, there was just something for me that was slightly missing overall.
I still enjoyed this though and found it to be imaginative.
The Princess assisting in her own rescue and getting two handsome Prince's was also a bonus.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Imprisoned.

Sleeping Beauty with a dark erotic suspense element. Wow this is not your average fairytale. I participated early on for the ARC of these sinister tales. Each one is unique and different.

This love story is more of an adventure. We have a triangle unfolding between Arianna, Appolo and Ares. I was team Apollo early on. They have an instant attraction that unfolds in a captivated tale of abuse, sex, and love. Their world is filled with magic and imagination.

If you like the Sleeping Beauty and you are over 18+ this is the series for you. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

5++ stars!!

Beautiful yet a sinister re telling of Sleeping Beauty, by far one of the most intense and stunning fairytale retellings i've ever read!

in this book, we have Arianna - Princess of Graeline and her Princes.. yep! not one, but two Princes, Ares and Apollo. when young girls start to go missing in the land of Graeline, human trafficking is suspected. Ares and Apollo are contacted by the King for help but most importantly, to keep their Princess safe.

however, a vengeful curse was placed on Arianna. it was on that fateful day during her 18th birthday, Arianna was taken away.

Ares and Apollo are battling with their demons. they're basically killers for an 'organisation' called Team Olympus. however, they were the only survivors left and it traumatised them heavily. i guess it's considered insta-love when both of them felt the same bond with Arianna, almost as if she's meant to be with them. both guys protected Arianna while they embarked on a journey, and the bond just becomes stronger and stronger..

being extremely careful around Arianna when they're intimate was what they're doing all the while, but what happens when their Princess wants more?

"The explicit eroticism of whipping her drove me with a hunger I hadn’t realized I possessed. This is a tenacious woman looking to kneel before her men, and we aim to satisfy that curiosity in all of us." damn..

and, they ARE absolutely dark princes.

"Popping the blade open, he slices through the ropes holding Arianna in place, and together, we gently roll her over to her back."
A fresh canvas for Ares to create his own masterpiece.

the rest of the journey was filled with suspense and mystery especially with the curse and the dark mage.
Arianna thought that she's a cursed princess that would never be able to find love. The guys struggled with their past and whether they are good enough to love. but once again, love conquers all! all it takes is just a kiss.. of true love 😍

A Dark retelling of sleeping beauty.
Unfortunately for me this was less on the dark, more on the fantasy ménage side.
There was a lot of confusing background information that I felt complicated the story too much, the storyline didn’t flow smoothly.
The bedroom scenes are hot and heavy which brought the rating level up and the authors interpretation of the story I thought was unique and clever and deserves to be mentioned.

DNF. Based on all the other reviews I have to wonder if I was reading a different book. This book was just so terrible. I had to stop at about 58% and truthfully I started skimming at about 35% to see if it would get better (spoiler alert, it didn’t).

I have read several books from this Sinister Fairy Tales series. I like fantasy/fairytales and racy romances and thought it would be right up my alley. Most of them I have liked and a few I have more than liked. Others, not so much. This is one of those not so much. I thought this book was too jumbled, too many POV changes. I don’t mind multiple POV but with this book you had 2 male characters that did not have enough differences in their personalities and the way they think/talk that I would lose track of whose POV I was reading. I would often have to go back to figure it out and their nicknames were too similar which didn’t help. The heroine was both too naive and weak, then blink and the author gave her an abundance of fortitude out of no where.

And I’m sorry, but the 2 main conflicts in this book made for a very weird combo. The dark mage angle and the reason for the disappearance of the women (don’t want to spoil it in case people want to read for themselves) just didn’t work.

This book was just not for me. I actually returned it to Amazon which is the first time I have done that.

Arianna will rule one day. She'll have a king by her side as she does. But not until the prophesied darkness lifts from the kingdom she is hidden away from.

Asher “Apollo” and Matthew “Ares” are closer than brothers. They once led a team of men until that team was taken from them. They never thought that a princess might bring about lightness to their lives.

I've been really enjoying this Sinister Fairy Tales series. We've had twisted versions of just about every well known fairy tale you can think of, and Arianna's Sleeping Beauty is a pretty twisty retelling. It's sexy, a little dark, and it's a cool version of the classic. There's a note saying that there's going to be a followup story to Imprisoned. I really liked the character it will feature, can't wait to read her story after having loved this one.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. Im not a huge fan of paranormal or magic books. It's just not really my thing. Imprisoned though was really interesting and I kept wanting to know what was going to happen. It was also really hot.

***4 Stars***

This was definitely unexpected, but in the best of ways.

Imprisoned was all kinds of dark goodness. It’s smexy, sweet, funny and despite the darkness, had a huge dose of heart that kept me turning the pages to see what just what would happen next.

I loved Arianna, Ares and Apollo. Though Arianna is young and has been sheltered (understatement), she isn’t as naive as one would imagine, and much stronger than most know. I loved her determination and how generous her heart was. Ares and Apollo. These two. They are all kinds of protective Alpha AF goodness. They both have their demons, but despite how the the world ~ and even themselves ~ tends to view them, they have honor etched on their souls.

Their journey to their HEA was...unexpected. I know I’m repeating myself, but I expected some things, but not others, and I just really enjoyed it ~ even the dark parts. I loved how they connected and how well they simply flowed together despite how they were raised and all that they’d experienced. The chemistry was HAWT and even though I do prefer my menage to be a certain way, this one totally worked for me because of how strong the emotional connection was between them all.

As with most of the books in the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection, this is my first read by the author and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was hooked from the start, loved the characters and the world building was on point. I really liked how she took the “Sleeping” part of the fairy tale and made it her own, as well as the punch of Paranormal into a contemporary world that gave it that magical feeling and making it work. And though we do get an HEA at the end, there are still a few things that are left open and I’m going to be keeping an eye out for the next book, because I’m definitely interested in seeing how that whole situation works out.

I enjoy twisted version of fairytales. And the way KL give her own twist to it, was great. I loved both Ares and Apollo. Liked how they were portraited. Just not sure how I feel about Arianna. I liked her backbone and determination. But she was too sacrificial for my taste. Don't get me wrong, wanting to protect or save someone(s) isn't wrong, but sometimes the way you go about it, can bring more damage then saving. And Arianna didn't thought things through, and was reckless with her choices.
The ending though... What that means? I can't wait to find out.

This is another superb addition to the Sinister Fairy Tales.

The author has put her own twist on Sleeping Beauty and I absolutely loved it. We get three great characters - Arianna, Ares and Apollo.

Although not a genre I jump into lightly this series is changing my views on it and I can’t wait to read more from the series and from this author.

description

Another interesting addition to the Sinister Fairytales. In this book, we visit Graeline. A little place that once flourished but now, not so much.

This story was loosely based on Sleeping Beauty, but it was way more adult and a bit more of a mystical edge to it. Arianna is our Beauty and her parents have been dreading the day she is to turn 18. The kingdom is falling apart and the curse their daughter was graced is about to come to fruition. Arianna has been left in the dark and kept in her tower above all of the badness that is happening down below. But she is ready to find out what has been hidden from her for so long.

Enter, Ares and Apollo. Friends who a soldiers of a different type. Tasked with figuring out what is going on in the kingdom they head to the castle. What awaits them is much more than they bargained for. They are not prepared for the princess or the curse or anything that goes along with it.

This book moves fairly quickly and there is a lot of story being told. There were a few times I thought things moved a bit too fast. But the story was certainly interesting and sexy. There is more to come from this world and more players that we are introduced to. It will be interesting to see where this story goes.

I have read every book in this series, and I was looking forward to reading Imprisoned. K.L. is one of my go to authors and was very interested to see just how this story was going to play out. I will assure you, you will not be disappointed at all. In it we get a princess who is far from a damsel in distress, 2 hot alpha warriors who will do all that is necessary to save their 1 true love, and lets not forget the evil witch hell bent on causing havoc.
Now this book is loosely based off of 1 of my most favorite fairy tales Sleeping Beauty. The way this author spins this fairy tale is unique and will have you enthralled from beginning to end. We get a whole lot of action, a mystery that just needs to be solved, enough suspense to have you devouring this book page by page, and lets not forget the spicy chemistry between our princess and 2 alpha men. This book is not as dark as I would have hoped for that is the only reason for the 4 stars other than that this story is fast paced, and flows really well. The characters are well written, and I am looking forward to see just what K.L. has in store for this storyline.

Imprisoned by KL Donn is part of Sinister Fairy Tales series. This is Princess Arianna of Graeline, Asher (Apollo) McCall and Matthew (Ares) Norbury's story. It's a dark, modern twisted retelling of Sleeping Beauty. I enjoyed every moment of reading this twisted romance. Without giving anything away, let me say that Ms. Donn did a great job with writing a retelling and adding a twist to a story. 18 years old Arianna thinks maybe she will one day soon get her Prince Charming...no, what she ends up with is Ares and Apollo.
If you think this is based in the past, nope it's present day and get ready for the heat, drama, angst, twists, turns, intrigue, raw emotions, paranormal/greek mythology elements, danger, action, and romance...this is truly an amazing experience. I cannot wait to see what more is going to happen in this storyline going forward by author K.L. Donn.

Sleeping Beauty...who? No there's no diminutive, coy little girl in these pages. Arianna is feisty, impetuous, and young. This princess is all about action.

Imprisoned gives Disney princes with their Ken doll smiles the boot. Forget Prince Charming. Arianna gets two gods- Ares and Apollo. The god of Truth and the god of War. I am generally speaking not greedy girl but for these two I would definitely be willing to throw down.

Protectors to the core, all three of our main characters will learn just what it takes to be one. It doesn't hurt that they can kick butt and save the day...with help of course!

If you are a fan of Sleeping Beauty and/or Maleficent, K.L. Donn has given us the adult (no kids allowed) version with her story, Imprisoned.

Arianna is the Princess of Graeline. Like the original, she's cursed. Unlike the original, she needs not one but TWO prince charmings, Apollo and Ares, that must work together to break there curse.

The author goes dark and then even darker with the plot.

I loved how the author gave this a modern twist but still kept the magical aspect that we are so familiar with in fairy tales.

While I enjoyed the romance aspect, I wish the author would have spent a little more time with this. The build up scenes had me wanting more than I was given.

Imprisoned is part of the author's own series and Apollo and Ares have a past that has caused them grief and turmoil.

Old characters are mentioned and some make appearances. New characters make their debut and hopefully will have their stories told later.

There are some parts that I felt were unresolved. I felt like I was cheated with one part of the story UNTIL the epilogue. The author gave me JUST enough to let me know that while the situation may be unresolved now, it won't be for long.

Talk about a VERY loose Sleeping Beauty retelling. It is not your normal retelling or even romance. There is no Prince Charming, just 2 complete opposites. The author takes this book and makes it her own and I enjoyed it. though I could not connect fully with the author, I liked how the book played out with the dark and "sinister" themes. There were a few unexpected twists and turns and that just made it even more fun.

All in all the book was a dark retelling on an old classic. It was an enjoyable read with a twist. I give it a 4 outta 5 stars!

This was something different from this author. I so enjoyed the story and development between Arianna,Ares and Apollo. Love those names. It was great to see the cross over of other characters from other books. This is a bit dark and very interesting. A fairytale retelling with lots of action and suspense. Ari and her men have great chemistry, I wish there had been a bit more romantic interactions with those three. I don’t want to give much away, this is a step into the paranormal and oh so enjoyable.

So the storyline is pretty intriguing. Plus two hot dudes, what’s not to like?

Well I’m still pretty confused honestly. There were like way too many elements that I couldn’t keep up with. Made it super hard to connect at all with any character.

The magical tones took away from the gritty traffickers. And vice versa. There were too many voices and no sense of direction. Felt like too many worlds imploded.

It was a dark story. That’s the consistency at least.

Imprisoned by KL Donn is the latest novel in the Sinister Fairytale Collection and this is the retelling of Sleeping Beauty. This story was dark, action-packed and suspenseful, with twists and turns you won't see coming. It was complex and layered yet very well written and will keep you turning the page to see what happens next.
The characters were flawed yet it was interesting to see how connected they all were. This was a story about love, trust and the power to over come evil. With excellent world-building, likable characters and a heart-pounding plot this dark retelling was a great read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of dark romance.

Imprisoned will suck you in from the beginning as we travel to the land of Graeline where darkness resides. The valley was once beautiful and full of life. The evil is lurking in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to strike on Princess Arianna's eighteenth birthday.

With Callista's help Ares and Asher locate where Ari is being held. Things are not what they expected. So much worse.

A dark and twisted retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Menage a trois.

This is not a hearts and flowers kind of fairy tale...this is not for the faint of heart...this is dark and very sinister! If you love dark and erotic romance, this is definitely for you.

It begins with a curse, and then love’s first kiss sets the wheels in motion for an incredibly steamy, suspenseful and twisted tale. Mysterious disappearances, depraved men, witches, a badass princess and two heroes in a mystical land seemingly forgotten in time...intrigued? You should be!
