Written by new to me author, Secrets Never Die kept me guessing right til the very end.
I even stayed up late finishing it.

A true suspense that had unexpected twists and turns I just didn't see coming.
Chapter by chapter you slowly piece the clues together about Tallie and her mysterious past and why she is so untrusting of anyone ,but this fear she had this fear installed in her by her mother.

After her mother's death she is on a mission to understand where she came from and who she is. Her mothe

Secrets Never Die by Laurie Lewis was recommended to me by a fellow book reviewer. I started the book without reading the book description so the first chapter totally shocked me.

Tallie had a tough childhood but I loved the skills that Julia taught her. Tallie is on a quest to find her father and comes to Cutler’s Ridge. Julia tried to prepare her that the answer may hurt.

Jackson is an investigative reporter. The author did a great job with his character since I would have hated him from his p

This author enjoys reminding me of why she is one of my go to authors and why she will continue to be one. Her stories and the twist she comes up with are the things that draw me to her. Now we have Tallie who is truly not only emotionally stunted, but by default she's also suspicious with a warning of trust no one as the last she received. There's more than just the death of her mother here to deal with and the fall out is far greater than she can imagine. Conspiracies, cover ups, blackmail and ...more

Thanks to #Netgalley for providing a copy of this book for review purposes. This was my first Lewis novel, and I greatly enjoyed her writing! The suspense story line was unique, and there were many unexpected parts that I did not see coming. For one thing, I never knew that there was actually a "Quiet Zone" where cell phones and radio communication is banned. This shows that this book had a great mix of fiction and fact. I would categorize this is a clean suspense thriller book.

WOW! This is a very well written book. It is full of twists and turns and keeps you turning pages to see what happens next. It has suspense, drama and action; it will keep reading way past bedtime. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Covenant Communications via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

SECRETS NEVER DIE is one of those stories that starts with questions and then takes you on a goose chase as the heroine tries to find answers in a small town where no one wants to help her. The suspense gradually builds to a climatic ending. Suspense readers will find much to enjoy about this story.

Tallie is one of those characters easy to relate to on a lot of levels, but also a little removed due to her upbringing. She's very intelligent, beautiful, and talented, but socially inept and somewha

I can’t rave about this book enough!

Okay, first off, one of my favorite types of books are suspense novels written kind of like British TV shows. They introduce a bunch of characters, and you don’t know how they relate at first. You don’t know who the bad guy is or what’s going on, but then as you read more you find the pieces fitting together until you finally get a complete picture and—if written well—a satisfying reveal which you only figure out seconds before the author tells all.

All I can say about this book is just Wow! What an awesome book! Absolutely one of the best suspense books I have read. The book follows Tallie Brown from a mountain top in the state of Washington to a town in the East. When her Mother dies unexpectedly she leaves Tallie a letter telling her that she can make a new life for herself or go to Cutler’s Ridge and dig up the past. There she meets Jackson, a newspaper reporter who is in search of a story that will redeem his mistakes. Tallie is on a s ...more

Oh my! This book. I didn't want to set it down at all. Unfortunately, I only had small amounts of time to read it so it took me a little while to finish it. I was coming up with all kinds of theories for how everything fit together. And even more so when I got further and further into the book and the author started to reveal a little bit more info here and there. Wow!

If you enjoy suspenseful reads with several twists and turns, intrigue, lies, cover ups, secrets and character searching for answ

I haven't read anything by this author previously but was given a copy by the publisher. I was impressed. This was a twisting, turning journey that kept me guessing until the end. There were enough bread crumbs to start to put pieces together but it definitely didn't give too much away.

I would definitely read stories by this author again. I loved that there were still some things unresolved, not unanswered, but unresolved.

Secrets Never Die is a mystery full of intrigue, danger, a dash of romance, action and lots of interconnecting parts. The main characters and the plot are very interesting. I couldn't put all of the pieces together to solve it and appreciated the way the author showed the solution through dialogue. If you like mysteries, I think you'll enjoy this one. It does raise the question of how much is too much to sacrifice for the greater good. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my op ...more

"Tallie, she loved you. Your safety was her first priority. "

This novel was brilliantly written. I really was able to feel for Tallie and her journey of trying to not only discover who she was but also her mother and what they had been hiding and running for all these years. I could really feel her heartache as she discovered the life she was wrenched away from and the life she lived instead. Unfortunately it all came too late and much more was lost for her then when she had started her journey.

Tallie has been brought up in a most peculiar way, with the result that by age 22, she holds two masters' degrees, has lived in almost as many different places (and countries) as she is years old, has excellent shooting, tracking and other similar skills, and is utterly socially inept and isolated, having had little contact with anyone but her mother Julia - and that very limited and cold. When Julia dies suddenly, leaving dangerous secrets behind, Tallie is left with a choice: to disappear and ...more

I could not put the book down. There were so many twist and turns in the book that kept me guessing who was a good guy and who wasn’t.

This author never disappoints, you are hooked from the first page! This is a bit different than her other books I have read...and I have read them all at least once! The characters develop through out the story with twists and turns keeping you guessing, with just enough suspense and intrigue to keep you reading but without making you turn the lights on and check the locks on the doors! It was interesting watching Kallie use her "training" as she learns to develop relationships and survive in he ...more

Wow! I liked this story. This novel is a well-crafted puzzle of clues that you piece together chapter by chapter. I stayed up WAY too late reading it but I could not stop. I truly enjoyed trying to figure out all of the secrets that were hidden in the small town of Cutler's Ridge.

Tallie Brown was a hard character to get to know at first, but I understood why she acted the way she did considering her upbringing. Soon, you are in her corner hoping she finds all of the answers she's looking for. J

Long-time author Laurie C. Lewis (Author of historical fiction series Freeman and Dreamers) has published her most recent novel SECRETS NEVER DIE this July with Covenant Communications. Departing from her more recent romance titles, SECRETS NEVER DIE’s main draw is the governmental conspiracy suspense plot. The reader instantly roots for the emotionally neglected and intelligent Tallie Brown as she sets off to solve the mysteries of her mother’s life in a small town in Virginia.

A good suspense book is one of my very favorites to read! I loved the way the author did this one. There are several points of view that you get to see the story from. You get to see it from the point of view of Julia, that’s Tallie’s mom, Tallie and Jackson. All these points of view make the story more interesting. And help it to make more sense.

There were lots of things about Tallie that I liked. I liked the way she was smart. She had learned a lot of things through not only schooling, but thr

I discovered this author earlier this year and have read one book after another because I like her so much! She has a great writing style and good character development. The other books were romance but this one only had a little romance developing at the end.

I didn't give this book 5 stars because it was a little slow for me in the beginning. I also found a few things a bit too much--both of the main characters had physiological reactions like "hair on his arm stood on end" or hands or legs we

A Well Crafted, Well Written Mystery

Nothing is as it seems in the life of Tallie Brown. Her mother raised her in isolation, teaching her survival skills and living crafts, encouraging perfection in everything she learned. Encouraging her to trust no one, they frequently picked up roots, moving around the world at will. Tallie never learned the reason for her mother’s behavior. Never knew when her life would be rearranged in the blink of an eye. At last, they settled down in the forests of the Pa

Mystery, adventure, romance, family....this book has so much to offer.

I was drawn in from the start. When I first started the book, I thought I knew where it was going. I was so wrong. Then I thought I had the mystery figured out. Wrong again! This book took me on a journey with multiple surprises.

It was different, which gives it bonus points. The romance was a realistic slow burn. I was totally absorbed in the story, and the world that was built.

Secrets Never Die by Laurie Lewis is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I was captivated since the very first line until the very end. Great characters, great mystery, and a great ending.

Laurie (L.C.) Lewis will always be a Marylander at heart—a weather-whining lover of crabs, American history, and the sea. She admits to being craft-challenged, particularly lethal with a glue gun, and a devotee of sappy movies. Her ninth published novel, her first romance novella, "Sweet Water, " was inspired by a visit to Oregon’s magnificent coast, and time spent with Mother Eugenie, upon whom t ...more
