When an old vampire who fought for the South in the Civil War notices some of the ghosts in Atlanta are disappearing he calls in Lex to investigate. She agrees but immediately upon arrival is confronted with some attitudes she can't tolerate.

She finds herself not only investigating the missing ghosts but butting heads with the vampire who called her and the community of witches that work for him.

Boundary Haunted is great. It's an entertaining page turner and honestly I think anyone who loves

I was looking for something in the fantasy genre, and the cover of “Boundary Haunted” caught my eye. Not having read any of the first four books in the Boundary Magic series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As the series seemed well received by other readers, I decided to take a chance.

The main part of the story is a standalone, and it is understandable that there will be a certain amount of backstory. Fans of the series may have appreciated the numerous information dumps in the beginning, but as

Still struggling with nightmares after the psychic attack she suffered after the last book, Allison “Lex” Luther travels to Atlanta, Georgia, to fulfill the request of help from the vampire cardinal Abner Beaumont "Beau" Calhoun. Apparently, Beau’s ghosts are missing, and since Lex is a boundary witch, Beau thinks that she can help finding them. Lex is reluctant at first, until her twin-sister Sam, tells Lex in her dream that she is needed. So off Lex goes to the South, alone this time.

While I greatly enjoyed this entire series, this 5th book in the Boundary Magic series was just awesome. Being from the South and having spent a lot of time in the Atlanta area, I could imagine much of the scenery and of course in my mind, Beau, the Atlanta cardinal vampire, has this wonderful old southern accent that I could hear as I read. The setting, culture, and old Civil War history was done perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy as I have visited many of the landmarks in ...more

I really enjoyed this book. I liked how Lex has to take herself out of her comfort zone on this assignment and deal with things she's not really used to. The history woven into this story was an added bonus. As I was reading this, I could picture the places like I was there along side the characters

There are authors I read who when I read them after a while between books, I’ve forgotten just how good they are. This is one such author. I was immediately drawn into this book, the characters just like returning to old friends. Lex is a great character who suffers from PTSD from both her time in service and the events of last book, but she must try to not let it interfere in her latest assignment for Maven, especially when her sister tells her she really must go. I loved the new characters ...more

It took a little while to get into this book, I didn't really like Beau when we first meet him, but when the story really begins with the reason for Lex being there and the action starts, it's easy to get into. I enjoyed it. I really liked the respect and determination that Lex has to find and fix the problem. I did have some inkling that Odessa was the bad guy but didn't realize the range of it. I liked how the two remaining horsemen warming up to Lex at the end especially helping hold her up. ...more

I am usually ambivalent about the Lex series, Lex just isn’t a very interesting person to me.
But this book is very good. She was out of her city, dealing with new people, and it was more interesting as a result. And with absolutely no whining about “my niece Charlie”, this is a four star read.
This is the first book in this series that I would read again.

Thrilling and informative

Nice Civil War trivia that worked so well with the story. Lex always seems so human in her dealings and comes across as naive and clueless but determined. I love that about her. She makes mistakes but always seem to get to her goal no matter the cost to her body and soul. Sometimes I am so sorry for her that I get mad. This was another great story about an unlikely hero whose only fault is trying to do the right thing. Absolutely fantastic!

Totally forgot I preordered but so glad I did

This book was awesome. I worried about needing to reread some of the previous books but the writing flow made it so easy to drop back into this world and remember where Lex’s life had last dropped off. A great plot twist and interesting adjustments of power and friendship bloom in this book. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Boundary Haunted, by author Melissa F. Olson, is the Fifth installment in the authors Boundary Magic series. Protagonist Allison "Lex" Luther is an army veteran and boundary witch who 3 months before, was dragged into bad situation where she suffered damaging psychic attacks that still haunt her. She learned that once you raise the dead, they'll continue to call you where ever you are. Lex is asked by her boss, Maven, the Cardinal

This volume in the series is more mystery adventure. It could have benefited from a little more romance in the Quinn side story.

It was an entertaining read. Too bad the author didn’t do research on Chloroform before suggesting in a minute of breathing it, you would pass out. That’s an untruth. It takes five plus minutes.

Also, I’m weary by the Simon thing. The author has already destroyed the Scarlett Barnard series (second trilogy with bad romance choices).

This is urban fantasy. Let sleeping dogs lie and let Lex be happy with Quinn. If this author changes that, she will be on my no read author list. I already don’t read

"You want to send me to Atlanta," I said slowly, "because a cardinal vampire is worried that his vampire social event is missing its ghosts?"

Review:
Boundary Haunted was so just much fun to read. I loved the entire setup for the book. There is a vampire master, who works out of a cemetary, who sees ghosts, and when he was turned, he also turned his friends and named them the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

While this Lex book, did take sort of a breather from the long arc stand point, Ii did add a bit more to the understanding of just what a boundary witch is as Lex, heads out to help the head vampire of Atlanta with a missing ghost problem. Since the vamp is from a family with unactivated boundary witch powers and is able to see ghost too, we also get to learn a bit more about different types of ghosts. And there is sort of a touching ghostly moment near the end. Atlanta is interesting in that it ...more

Boundary Haunted (Boundary Magic Book 5)

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Sci-fi and fantasy

I love all Melisa's stories about the Old World, and this one continues to engage my attention as much as the rest. Sometimes when a series continues a while the stories feel faded, same-ish but not with these. The Scarlett Bernard books follow the same lines as the Boundary ones, same Old World but different city, different issues. That means there's always something new to bring to the

This book was near perfect in my mind - filled with mystery, action, paranormal tough chick goodness, and everything that makes Lex awesome. If you're joining this show already in progress, I'd recommend you back it up and start with Book#1. This world has a lot of baggage you'll want to unpack.

Lex is beautifully broken in this book. She's human (kind-of), so she's actually showing the strain of the traumatic events she's recently gone through. Shocker, right? Usually we power through and the

Lex is still feeling the aftereffects of her previous adventure in the form of nightmares when Maven asks her to go to Atlanta to help cardinal vampire Beau Calhoun who has a ghost problem. Someone is stealing his ghosts. An incentive is the Beau comes from a boundary magic family and might be able to help Lex learn more about her own boundary magic.

Lex has to go alone because Quinn has a daughter in the area that he would be too tempted to visit if he went along. Lex decides to meet his

Four stars for the urban fantasy genre.

The Boundary Magic series is so much fun. The series is a spin-off from the Scarlett Bernard series, but I began reading this series first, and then went back and picked up the Scarlett Bernard series.

Allison "Lex" Luther is an army veteran who doesn't realize she is a witch until vampires attempt to abduct her niece in the first book Boundary Crossed. She has a lot to learn.

I reviewed the first four books here.

In Boundary Haunted, Lex is still recovering

It was wonderful to get back to the world of 'Lex' Luther - especially after her battles , both real and psychic , in Wyoming .

Maven , the Cardinal Vampire in Colorado , makes a strange 'personal' request of Lex - will she aid the Cardinal Vampire of Atlanta , Beau Calhoun , - hundreds of Civil War spirits have suddenly vanished . Initially Lex is reluctant , she is still coming to terms with the changes to her magic ………. but Maven needs this alliance if the new Council is to come to fruition .

Another action-packed adventure

I love Melissa F Olson's Old World series and I was so delighted to have a chance to read an early copy from Net Galley and provide an honest review.

This Atlanta setting takes Lex further away from Colorado than she's ever been, and I missed her usual cast of secondary characters like Quinn, Maven, and Charlie. However, the setting imbued by literal specters of the Civil War was fascinating and it was a fair trade-off to get to experience this unique setting.

I have enjoyed this series since I found book one many years ago with the Old World and Scarlett and her gang and I was thrilled when we got to move to Boulder and got to meet Lex and her crew. This book is a bit of a departure because it takes Lex to a new location with not a lot of support. While she has had to travel on other occasions, it seems that both her and her gang are a bit fragile after the happenings in the past couple of books and we see a bit of a different Lex. I expected this book to be amazing and it did not disappoint. The story was good and was typical tortured Lex.
I can sing the books praises as I usually do, but this simply couldn’t earn 5 stars from me. From book one of Lex’s journey we knew Lily and Simon were biracial and Boulder seemed very diverse and hipster-ish. Here we are several stories later, across the old World universe) and we’ve just now encountered racism and prejudice? It seemed just thrown in there

Lex is back and she isn't in Colorado anymore.

Lex is still having issues with the events in BOUNDARY BROKEN. She is having nightmares and she want's nothing to do with ghosts. Unfortunately she is needed in Atlanta and there are a lot of ghosts there.

I love Lex, but I also love the rest of her gang. We don't get much of them in BOUNDARY HAUNTED, but I didn't miss them as much as I thought they would. The storyline had a great flow and the action kept me waiting to see what would happen next. I

In between

This story was a bit intricate but good.

Lex is still scarred and hurting from the last book. This picks up a little bit after. Lex isn't sleeping well and hurting a bit. She is sent to Atlanta on a mission she believes is to find missing servants. But as usual, not everything is as it seems.

Lex is pretty much on her own for most of this story but we do get some of the old cast back towards the end. I missed the interaction of our usual crew. I also realized that I wish there was a
