I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a wonderful story. I was thoroughly enchanted with Jace Hendricks and Vivian Reed. Jace is a former bull rider. He is forced to leave the rodeo circuit when his sister is convicted and sentenced to prison. He now has custody of his two nieces and a nephew. Jace is struggling to make the career switch to rancher on a beautiful piece of land. Unfortunately tule elk are thwarting his plans. A wildlife biologist

This is the second book in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series by Claire McEwen. If you enjoyed the first book, Reunited with the Cowboy, like I did, you'll enjoy this book too. Some of the characters appear again in this book, but the main characters are Jace Hendricks and Vivian Reed. I enjoyed reading another book based in Northern California, since that is where I live! Life has really changed quickly for bachelor Jace Hendricks. He is now in Shelter Creek raising his sister's three children. ...more

4 1/2 STARS!

AFTER THE RODEO is book two of Claire McEwen's Heroes of Shelter Creek series and centers on a former rodeo champ turned rancher and a wildlife biologist in a heartwarming enemies to lovers story.

Jace and his predicament of needing a stable home for his nieces and nephews is quick to catch the readers attention and sympathy. He's on a deadline to get his new home in order for these kids or he could lose them. Things would be going smoothly if it wasn't for the wildlife study being de

Claire did a great job with this book. She brought to light a issue that slot of people live with these days. Its called unseen illnesses. I loved Jace and Vivian's story. The way Claire brought to attention to Jace having to give up the one thing he thought he was good at, to give a home to his sister's kids. Shows character. Also I liked how she dealt with Vivian's dealing with her illness. She did a excellent job with both issues. She showed how pride can cause problems and then how to let go ...more

What a beautiful story about love and becoming a true family. Jace Hendricks is a strong, sexy cowboy who used to be on the rodeo circuit but now he is trying to raise his sister's three children. I enjoyed how Jace grew as a character and in his role as a parent. It was nice seeing him give up his anger and move on to become the man he needed to be for himself and the children.

I also liked Vivian Reed, who left New Hampshire for a new job in Shelter Creek, California. She needed to start over a

I originally saw the promo video for this story and was so intrigued I bought the book. I am so glad I did! Now I am hooked and must read the rest of the titles in this series. This is a heartwarming love story that brings to light the seriousness of Lupus and the struggles families face when drugs and crime take over. Jace steps up to foster his sister's children after she is incarcerated. He must give up the rodeo and make a home out of a dilapidated ranch. Vivian, a biologist, struggles to fa ...more

Jace is a rodeo cowboy who has to leave the rodeo to take care of his sister's three children while she is serving time in prison. HE is trying to do right by the children and things just seem to get in the way.

He buys a ranch that needs a lot of work. He has Children Services breathing down his neck finding things wrong with the ranch and he has spent most of his money trying to fix what he can. He puts up a really nice fence on a good piece of the ranch to find that it houses Tule Elk and an e

Jace Hendricks hasn't always had an easy life. He just begins to start doing well in his Rodeo career when it gets sidelined. Jace gets a call from Social Services to take in his sisters 3 children. He's not father material and he doesn't feel ready for kids. He just knows he doesn't want them going anywhere but with family, with him. Jace scrambles to get a homestead set up to help raise his nieces and nephew. Little does he know the ranch he's purchased has some surprises. Those surprises brin ...more

I absolutely enjoyed the story of Jace and Vivian, the second installment in the Heroes of Shelter Creek. I was so wrapped into how they each had their challenges and obstacles, but found each other despite them. And who doesn't want more of the Biddies?! It's such a great community. I love the setting of the story of too. Claire does such a great job of allowing the reader to escape from reality and be part of Shelter Creek. I cannot wait to go back to Shelter Creek!!! Another fabulous read about the inhabitants in Shelter Creek. Jace buys a ranch and takes on the care of his sister's three children when she goes to jail. Struggling to set up his ranch and parent the children, some of the locals protest at a new fence he has put up that stops the water supply to some of the wild elk. Vivian, a biologist persuades him to allow the elk access to the water. Eventually Vivian grows close to the children and inevitably closer to Jace. Some real humour along the way ...more

Jace and Vivian’s story is wonderfully written. Once I started reading couldn’t put down.

Jace a former rodeo star had to take custody of his nieces and his nephew. He didn’t know anything about being a dad or staying in one place. Can he make the farm he bought a working ranch and a home for the children?

Vivian is a biologist and tells him he can’t use the part of his ranch that he needs to use. What will he do? You will have to read to find out.

Very nice story. The main characters were perfect for each other. They had many struggles, but that made the story all the more exciting. Highly recommend this book and the one before. This book doesn't need to be read in order but it makes it nicer to know the characters in both books by reading them in order. A wonderful HEA book!

Jace and Vivian were perfect for each other. I loved their interactions throughout, especially their first date. I absolutely love this series! The Shelter Creek Wildlife Center's studies are interesting, and at times lead to some entertaining situations. I look forward to my next visit to Shelter Creek!

Claire McEwen lives by the ocean in Northern California with her family and a scruffy, mischievous terrier. When not dreaming up new stories, she can be found digging in her garden with a lot of enthusiasm but, unfortunately, no green thumb. She loves discovering flea-market treasures, walking on the beach, dancing, traveling and reading, of course!
