After graduating from Manhattan College and Fordham University School of Law, I practiced in New York for thirty-five years. Although I write about criminal law, I never practiced criminal law. My area of practice was civil litigation.
In 2005 I retired and in 2010 moved with my wife Rose to South Carolina. Freed from the daily grind of an active law practice, I once again became an avid reader. That lead to my writing stories, which I did strictly for my own enjoyment and shared only with my wife. Eventually, Rose encouraged me to publish my stories, and surprisingly I’ve managed to publish a couple of books.
Having been born, educated and lived in or near New York City, for sixty-five years, I know a few things about the city. As for alcoholism, I know a few things about that too. The Broken Lawyer books are not biographical, but I have drawn on some of my own experiences when writing Jake Carney’s stories.

This is my first book by the author but won’t be the last because I need to know more about the lawyer and his traveling hate .
The story was suspenseful and intriguing because there aren’t many books that I’ve read where the main character, especially a man , gives so much thought and interest to what his lovely partner wants and deserves.
He is really putting in balance his job and what that entails with his future along Grace.
Apart from some minor repetitions, this was a really great story that I highly recommend especially after reading the author’s note.

Best writer in my opinion ever

Please continue writing your books. I love the way that you write it really relates to the way that I speak. I had followed all of your bucks and every single one of them is amazingly well-written well-educated well informed and all about New York. Dean born and raised in Brooklyn New York everything you say and everything you've written speaks to me. This author is awesome and he writes well about Chinese history about Chinatown in New York, being Chinese is it something that I've always grown up with and it's amazing that the father has touched it right on point. Love your writing!

Hello. My name is ...

As an alluring recovery, I find all on these books fabulous. No where is being an alcoholic glorified but the stories resonate true. Life goes on and dealing with life is challenging. It makes the main character so relatable. His adventures and cases are fascinating.

The storyline was excellent, but could have been told in 100 fewer pages. There were way too many times the lawyer was headed of to an AS meeting. I get it. He's a recovering alcoholic, but too many defences interrupt the flow of the narrative

Another good read

The characters in this series have grown on me and I really enjoy the stories. At times I feel the dialogue could speed up a bit but it's worth sticking with those passages. There is an authenticity and believability that I don't always find in similar series.

Fascinating ‘!

I enjoyed the book; however, yet again, the misuse of words, confusing punctuation and simply grammatical errors.
The theme of the book and clear isolation of the main protagonists made the book rise to the level of a must read. The plot twists are clever.

Good reading

I like law and courtroom dramas and this was a good one. And proceeds go to vet related charities. Can’t beat that combination!

A good legal mystery

I put this author up there with Connelly, Lescroat and Grisham. All his books are enjoyable! Very pleasant book if you enjoy legal thrillers.

Good read

Just an all round, relaxed good piece of escapism. A few grammatical errors creeped in but, so what! Enjoyable escapism!
