If you are a fan of Amish stories than you need to check out author, Shelley Shepard Gray. I have read several books by this author and really enjoyed them all. This new book is no exception. This book can be read as a stand alone novel. You don't have to read these books in chronological order. However after reading this book, you will want to go back and read the prior novels or try another series by this author.

Elizabeth Anne aka E.A. was so kind. She showed it with Marta. Thus the reason I

I liked this book well enough to still give it 5 stars.
I think the only thing that I didn't like about it was the use of the nickname E.A. I love the full name Elizabeth Anne so much better! It didn't make much sense to me. I guess it's because using a nickname doesn't give the character much personality.
Now if we're using the full name, this character really does have a lot to offer but this is just my opinion.
But overall I think the author has done a nice job on this tough subject. And a lot

Now this is the third book in this series, and these people have become friends to me, but if you are reading this one as a first, don’t worry you really won’t be lost. The author keeps you updated as to what has happened I the past, and we learn more about these friends of eight.
This is Elizabeth Anne’s and Will’s story, and a side story of Marta, a woman in need.
Will Elizabeth Anne and Will overcome obstacles, namely David and family, and there are many chuckles here!
I love the faith of these

This story was great ! I read it in a couple hours because I couldn't put it down. Shelley Shepard Gray wrote a very detailed and very believable story and it covers some highly relevant topics today; such as depression, suicide, spousal abuse, etc,. She did it in such a way that you really feel for the characters without it being graphic and in the midst of it all she gives us a sweet story of falling in love with your best friend. I truly enjoyed this story and recommend reading it.

This book did not disappoint! Shelley Shepard Gray has done it again! Her writing sucks you in and holds on until the book is complete! This book has so much love in it. It also has fear, courage, and so much more! This book is very encouraging and it was a pleasure to read. It encourages the reader to do the right thing and stand on the right thing! It also encourages readers to see where things can go from a tiny spark to a roaring fire! Again, Shelley Shepard Gray has written an amazing book ...more

The Protective One is the third inspiring story written by Shelley Shepard Gray in her continuing series, The Walnut Creek series. This story has everything a reader would look for in a story. Fantastic characters, love, disappointment, friendship, fear, and underlying mystery. The characters the author has created are beyond amazing. The story has a fast revolving storyline which definitely keeps the readers interest throughout the entire story. I also enjoyed the mini story in which bits and ...more

Here we have another home run from Shelley Shepard Gray!!! I have been a long time reader of her work and I must say that this novel had a few turns that I was glad to see written about in the genre of Amish fiction. Elizabeth Ann (EA) has lost a friend and now comes to a crossroads where she makes the decision to walk away from the man her parents want her to marry. Needless to say, her parents are NOT happy and take every opportunity to try to change EA's mind, much to EA"s dismay. However, ...more

Even though this book started out a little slow for me, it quickly picked up and I didn't want to put it down. Still reeling from a death of a close friend, E.A. is growing more dissatisfied with her boyfriend David. When he insults her deceased friend, she breaks up with him. When E.A. tells her friend Will, he pretends that he is E.A.'s boyfriend. Before too long, they both realize that they have feelings for each other. David though isn't ready to walk away from E.A... At work, E.A. only real ...more

When the death of an old friend starts Elizabeth Anne rethinking her life, she begins to think that she needs a change. This includes her courtship with David, her neighbor and suitor. This death also brought back together her best friends known as the Eight. Will she be able to move forward and figure out her future? Will she find a true love that has been right in front of her?
This story brings friendship, love and courage to the forefront. As each character struggles to move into the future,

The author gives us a great new book dealing with love, friendship, loss of friend through death, seeking of where life is leading and the subject of marital abuse.

These are all handled in a great way of showing protection through faith and love of friends and family.

    E. A (Elizabeth Ann) and Will have been life-time friends, along with others forming a group of 8 close friends. Time has brought them closer together as she questions the friendship and potential engagement to another man. Will

I always love Shelley Shepard Gray’s books as I can count on them to be entertaining, heartwarming stories. This latest installment in her Walnut Creek Series follows “the Eight” as their friendships mature and change. This one focuses on beautiful Elizabeth Anne (E.A.) and Will, and her struggles with ex-beau David, her friendship with the troubled Marta, and her search for God’s will in her life. Gray sensitively explores the dark world of spousal abuse, and uses E.A. as a catalyst for hope ...more

Shelley Shepard Gray is one of my favorite authors. She writes amazing books about real-life people and circumstances. After EA (Elizabeth Anne) ends her courtship with David, she and her friend Will, one of “The Eight” renew their friendship and find they have deeper feelings for each other. EA is unaware her new sewing student, Marta, is a victim of domestic abuse until she and her friends witness the abuse themselves and step in to help. The Protective One is the third book in The Walnut ...more

I am always up for a series that tells the story of those in books before it, but also continues on with a more detail story of others that were in the books before. It’s always fun to see what store you are looking back on a well as the story the book is about. I love the story of Will and EA and how they grew to love each other even with their differences. It was a wonderful story of Marta in the book telling of how she survive many difficult things that some people go through. I would ...more

The Protective One is a great story about two friends that become so much more! A beautifully written story that tells of EA, aka Elizabeth Anne, and her old friend Will as they grow closer together. During this time they are able to help an abused wife leave her husband. A very exciting story! Loved it!
