This short story needs to be read after the first book and while is quite short it provides additional and pivotal information that gives insight into the whole Calista / Kristen life and the romance with Julian and Alexander which help understand her character better and why she feels the way she does about both of the men while ensuring that readers can fully understand and enjoy the following books.
You need to read the first book in this series before reading this book. Even though I read the first book, this story made me happy and also broke my heart. I could see how much Calista loved her daughter with Julian. Her daughter was such a refreshing breath of air. I felt bad that Calista still loved Alexander and also her husband Julian. Alex and Julian are looking for Damon as he is killing vampire women and their children. I wish Julian had told Calista more about what was going on before he left town. The story is exciting and sad. If you love vampire books, you will love this series. I was given a copy of this book and voluntarily wrote a review.
The Pulse of Blue Blood: The Back Story of Calista My Blood Runs Blue, Book 2 By: Stacy Eaton Narrated by: Alex Black
I loved the first book of the series, “My Blood Runs Blue” which should be read and/or listened to before starting this one. This short story is the history of Kristin’s life and her link to Calista. I was rooting for Julian and Kristin in the first book but now I see why she did what she did. I am being as vague as possible because I do not want to spoil anything for those who did not read/listen to the first book. This book is a great addition to the series, giving details about an incident in the past that forever changed Julian and Alex’s life. Stacy Eaton fit a lot of story into this book, it is fast moving paranormal romance that includes drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt and heartbreaking moments. I loved that this story adds more depth to the wonderful characters of this amazing series. Stacy Eaton, thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Alex Black continues to bring these characters and their story to life. He does a great job portraying and humanizing the characters. He is best at performing the male character roles, his child voice was great too. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧
I had never read or listened to anything Stacy Eaton had written before I started this series and now, I am addicted. Yes, this is only book 1.5 but I am already craving book 2. Calista is a character with spunk, with emotion, and with heat that pulled me in as she found her way in life. She made decisions that made me cringe, she did things that made me respect her, and she had a way of making me just want the best for her. I knew how this book would end since I had already listened to the first book and this was a prequel to book 1 but made to be listened to after book one. The narrator that Stacy choose were perfect. He brought this short but powerful story to life with their tones. I could feel the attractions, the emotions, and the fear as the story was read to me. I enjoyed that this story was told by a male narrator even though the character was a female.
Of course, you need to start with book one, My Blood Runs Blue, and then continue on with The Pulse of Blue Blood. But I can guarantee it will be time well spent listening to this wonderful paranormal story.
The Pulse of Blue Blood: The Back Story of Calista My Blood Runs Blue, Book 2 By: Stacy Eaton Narrated by: Alex Black
After listening to book 1 of this series, I am so glad Stacy Eaton has given us the back story of Calista, Alex and Julian. I love to learn history about couples, and this really lets us understand the choices that were made and the feelings that each one had prior to having Kristen come back. Getting to know these three better cleared up so many questions I had! I also enjoyed getting to know her daughter. What a sweet girl! Though we knew the outcome, it was still a shocker, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. The characters are compelling and the story line captivating.
Alex Black continues his narration of the series. I do wish he had a better female voice at times, but I do enjoy his rendition of Julian and Alex. He holds a thrilling, suspenseful vibe in his voice and it makes the story that much more exciting.
Overall 3 out of 5 stars Performance 3 out of 5 stars Story 3 out of 5 stars
If you wanted to know more about Calista, this was your chance. You see what took place in the past and what lead up to the disaster that was the end of Calista's life. You will see each of the three men from the first installment. This is short but I think it lends more insight to the series beginning.
I very much enjoy Stacy Eaton's works. She gives me new details and more to experience. While Alex Black brings to life the voices of each character with clarity. I have enjoyed all of Alex narrations. This one was no different. Thank you for the vivid imagery created by his voice and Stacy's words.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining Informative
The Pulse of Blue Blood: The Back Story of Calista by Stacy Eaton is the second book in the My Blood Runs Blue series. It is a short story that goes in more detail about Calista, Julian and Alexander's relationship and how her decisions ultimately lead to her early death. You definitely don't want to miss this story if you love paranormal romance. I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series!
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
This is the second book in the My Blood Runs Blue Series, an emotional paranormal vampire romance. The back story of Calista is a great addition to the Series. You have to listen to the first book before this one. This book gives us more information about Calista, Alexander, and Julian past. I enjoyed it. Alex Black did a great job with the narration. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the Series, Blue Blood for Life.
Book two in the series is the perfect story to fill in the blanks. This gives us the first book in an abbrevitaed format as told from Calista's perspective. It gives us the backstory that really helps us to understand the ending of the first book. It is a fast read but totally worth it so that the reader gets the full picture. I love it. Now for more of this world!
I enjoyed this book (#2), you need to have read the first book in the series or this won't make sense and will spoilt book 1 for you. The story is the lead up to book 1 and it was great to see the story from a different perspective. It shows Callista's life with Julian and their daughter and how it has affected Alex.
The Pulse of Blue Blood: The Back Story of Calista (My Blood Runs Blue #2) was a great read by Stacy Eaton. This book is the back story of Kristin and Calista. You learn about the decisions that Calista made between Julian and Alexander. You also learn about Calista's life with Julian and her untimely death. This was a great quick read and I can't wait to read more in this series.
This is a prequel to book 1 of the series. It's about Calista and her relationship with Julian and Alexander! Even tho it's about her life before she becomes Kristin, I do not recommend reading it until after you read book 1 of the series! It's a quick but great read!
This novella was appreciated to answer the questions I had about Calista and her life. It helped explain the meaning of half breeds in the vampire community and her relationship with Alex and Julian.
Calista feels her life is missing something. She loves her husband, Julia, and she has a wonderful daughter, but she is not entirely happy. When danger looms around her and Alex comes to protect her, can she bury her feeling for him or will their passion be reignited ?
A short story that goes into the past of these three (well four) main characters we got to know in the first book. This gives a much deeper understanding as to their relationships with each other.
I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.
This book is to be read after book 1 ant this goes more into the past of Calista and her life before she died!! Loved it, could not put down till the end!! Quick easy read!!
◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦
The 2nd book from "My Blood Runs Blue" brings you the back story from Calista to the present day. We’re transported to the past when Calista and Julian were together and had a happy family and a 5 yo daughter.
Alexander, Calista, and Julian were all pretty close together until Calista and Julian mated and they broke Alexander’s heart. After years of not speaking or being together, a strange incident brings Calista and Alexander under her own roof while Julian is away on a business trip. This meeting and time spent together make Calista confused about her own feelings.
The audiobook is action-packed and gives you an insight into Calista’s life until the present day. Even back then she loved them both but has chosen Julian, but when she meets Alexander her whole feelings take a different turn and you can see the internal conflict she’s dealing with.
This audiobook as the first one has really descriptive sexual moments that for sure will make you blush, it is steamy, hot, and really nice narrated. However, I wasn’t really a fan of the narration of the kid, I found those moments a little bit annoying and forced.
Overall the book has been nice to listen to and get you prepared for what’s coming next. This audiobook should be listening to before the 1st one because then you’ll understand why Kristin has chosen Alexander at the end of the 1st book. The story is twisted and complicated, a love triangle, and very steamy!
The reason I gave it a 4-star rating is because it was an excellent book as is all of Stacy's books I have not read one that I was disappointed in the only thing with this book is the ending did not disappoint me but. Surprise me I'm looking forward to the follow-up the reason I gave it a 4-star rating is because it is an excellent book as is oh of the books that I have read buy Stacy Eaton I loved it Stacy I can't wait to read follow up
Calista is married to Julian and they have a gorgeous little girl. Calista feels something is missing in her life with Julian. She loves him deeply, and sparks fly whenever they touch. She hasn't seen Alex since he found her and Julian together. Julian works for Alex now as he is head of the VMF. Someone is killing mothers and daughters. Throats torn out. A vampire. OMG. Another terrific book in this series.
