Sissy's Romance Book Review
Game On by Joanne Rock is book Two in the Texas Playmakers Series. This is the story of Keely Harper and Nate Ramsey. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Keely and Nate were once young and in love. Nate was moving on to become a minor in the baseball world and Keely was to come with him. But then she broke things off and he went on with his life. Now a few years later he is back home in Last Stand, Texas after being injured and having to heal. Keely felt s

4 star Review Game On (Texas Playmakers #2) by Joanne Rock
Professional Baseball player Nate Ramsey has returned home to Last Stand, Texas to recover from an injury. He hopes that he can also take the time to re connect and confront his old girlfriend, Keely Harper.
From the moment they set eyes on one another again it is clear that there is still an attraction burning brightly between them.
I enjoy small town and sports romances so the blurb drew me in. The secondary characters were entertaining

Game on is the second book in the Texas Playmakers series by Joanne Rock. This novel is told in third person point of view and is Nate Ramsey and Keely Harper’s story.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in the Texas Playmakers series (The Perfect Catch) so before diving into this novel I decided to wipe the slate clean and give Game On a fair shot.
I felt this novel flowed better than the first, I found myself becoming even more intrigued the more I read.

I just love a sports romance novel. Especially, Baseball! Add in the fact that this is a second chance romance and I was excited to crack this one open!

I am a new Joanne Rock reader and I did not read the first book in this series but I really enjoyed this story. I loved getting to know Nate and Keely. I loved reading their past and their present which shaped into a great story and romance. I fell in love with Nate. Keely was a little guarded but I loved the way that Nate broke down her walls.

Nate is just a resourceful man, “when I say ‘make,’I meant I could make food appear,”he clarified, closing the distance between them until only a couple of feet separated them. “By calling for delivery.” I liked this book, I loved Nate.

I hadn't read anything by Joanne Rock before so wasn't quite sure what to expect but I loved the thought of a second chance/sports romance. Game On was a little more about the second chance than the sports and its Nate and Keely's story.

When Nate was drafted to the major league for Baseball he broke a promise to his childhood sweetheart Keely forcing them to go their separate ways. Now Nate finds himself injured and back in his home town.
What will happen when he comes face to face once

This was a miss for me, sadly. I was really looking forward to reading Game On as I’m always a fan of sports romances - can we say yes please! to hunky jock characters and strong female leads. I just couldn’t seem to get in to the flow of this story though.

Game On follows young businesswoman Keely Harper, the high-school and college sweetheart of the recently injured baseball player Nate Ramsey. When Nate returns ho

GAME ON is the second story in the Texas Playmakers series, part of several series that all connect in Last Stand, Texas. While we do have an injured baseball player, Nate, returning home this story is more of a Second Chance Romance than a Sports Romance.

Keely and Nate were once young, in love, with the future ahead of them – perhaps. Yet, Keely has always felt the weight of her father’s reputation as an alcoholic bearing down on her shoulders. She was determined to

I love, love, love the second chance romance trope. And Game On hit a stand-up triple with me.

Nate Ramsey and Keely Harper were high school sweethearts with a plan for the future - finish college, and then Keely would follow Nate wherever his career as a pro baseball player would take him. When Nate didn’t stick to the plan, Keely let him go, breaking both of their hearts.

Now five years later, Nate is back home recovering from an injury that occurred just a few short weeks after his major league

Game On is a sweet, second chance romance. It's the second in the Texas Playmakers series, but works just fine as a standalone--the hero (Nate's older brother) and heroine of book one are mentioned here, but never appear on page, so no worries if you haven't read their story yet.

Nate and Keely broke up five years ago when he left college to pursue his dream of playing baseball--her family situation kept her in Last Chance, though, and Keely wasn't

Can you ever go home again? To the memories, the family dysfunction and of course the small townness? What do you think?

Keely Harper was actually very happy that some people took off and left the small town she was raised in. She might not have been born here but her roots were here now and leaving wasn’t an option so when her former boyfriend came back to town she wasn’t really sure how to handle that craziness.

Nate Ramsey didn’t go home, not really. His family was kind of a mess and he had no

Game On by JoAnne Rock is a fantastic read! This is the 2nd book in her new series The Texas Playmakers. I have read numerous book books by this author and she doesn’t disappoint with this book! I couldn’t put my kindle down until I finished reading this book. I will definitely be going back to read the 1st book in this series.

Game On is the second novel in the Texas Playmakers series by Joanne Rock. Much like the first novel, The Perfect Catch (read my review here), Game On is a pleasant-enough novel with pleasant-enough characters although Keely Harper's controlling-martyr attitude got old really fast.

Despite being called a sports novel, again like the preceding novel, baseball is just a background thing. Nate Ramsey, the likable middle son, is on the injured list and back home where he rekindles his romance with hi

Game On is a cross between a second chance and a sports romance with emphasis on the second chance love story. I'm a sucker for second chances, but I would've liked to have seen a little more of the Great American Pastime, especially since it played such a big part in the relationship. The story is well-written and entertaining as Nate and Keely tiptoe around their attraction. It's a decent story and runs the usual formula for a second chance romance with the lead up to realizing what they want, ...more

4 outta 5 stars for this book! It was my first one reading by Joanne Rock and it kept my attention as a light fairly fast read!

Nate's dream was to play baseball in the Majors, it was the whole reason he left college early to be drafted and he finally reached his dream years later. That is until he was injured and decided to return home. This was difficult for him because not only did it hold memories of his family, but it help memories of HER. Keely loved Nate and wanted to go with him, but he s

Game On is book 2 in the Texas Playmakers and I had no problem getting involved in this romance even though I haven’t read the first book in the series. Game On is the first book I've read by Joanne Rock, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was an enjoyable, albeit rather predictable, second chance/sports romance.

Nate left Keely behind years ago when he was drafted to play major league baseball, and he's now back home in their small town to recover from an injury. His ex girlfriend has taken over her family business, and it's causing lots of problems for his family's farm. When Nate is forced to confront Keely about her business

Game On by Joanne Rock is a sports contemporary romance that tugs at the heart and pulls in the reader.

Game On is a good, solid, second chance, sports romance. Nate Ramsey is a professional ball player that has been injured and is currently sidelined. He decides to go home to finish his recuperation. He hasn't been back home to Texas much in the 5 years since he left it and his childhood sweetheart. Keely Harper stayed behind even though she loved Nate. She felt that she had obligations at home and when his opportunity to turn pro happened during his last year of college she chose not to go with ...more

I am a big, big fan of sports romance novels and I try to read as many as I can get my hands on. What I love about this genre is the on field action as well as the romantic part of the story.
Game on is light on the sports side, thus the reason why I only gave the book 4 stars. Otherwise, I thought this was a wonderfully written second chance at love story.
