She’s moved on.

Waiting for Willa has been a highly anticipated book on my tbr since I was first introduced to these characters. Max and Willa had a complicated relationship that started as high school sweethearts and led to them being enemies. Now, years later, Max is back in his hometown with Willa, and she's finally at a place in her life where she isn't placing blame on Max for the tragedies she's gone through.

I thought these two made a super sweet couple and I loved getting to see them together. Max was always right there by Willa's side helping with anything she needed and spending time with her son and I adored him for it. He jumped in as soon as Willa gave him a chance and getting to see how invested he was in her life really made the connection the shared stand out. Willa took a little bit more time to be sure of the relationship, not that anyone could blame her, but I never doubted that she and Max belonged together.

Overall, this is a great mashup of an enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance. Max and Willa were just amazing together and seeing their connection had me loving this book. Definitely gets a recommendation from me!

Favorite Quotes:

I just had to have an eight-year-old show me how to drive a car. Is it too early for wine?

He looks at you like you’re a new computer… And that’s pretty great, because he loves his computers.

Oh, honey, this isn’t drama. Have you seen The Bachelor? That’s drama.

I want you to know that I like you. I respect you. And if you hurt my sister, my brother is the chief of police, I have more money than God himself, and I can make your death look like an accident.

“Why didn’t you call me when he asked?” “We were having sex at the time,” I say with a laugh. “Um, we need to change your proposal story. That can’t go in People magazine.”

My Review:

I enjoyed this cleverly amusing second chance romance, it was a pleasant and snappy read with crisp writing and fun and an entertaining plot. The characters were lovable and highly appealing and even included a curious child with a cute puppy. The storylines were relevant, engaging, and well balanced with healthy servings of levity and heart squeezes with a refreshingly low level of conflict and angst. This is only my second exposure to the lovely Kristen Proby, with both experiences being top-rate. I excitedly perused her impressive listing and just realized I am extremely late to the party with Goodreads listing sixty-eight books to her credit.

4.5 - "For now and always..." Stars!

The third book in Kristen Proby’s Big Sky series, gives us single mother and widower Willa Monroe’s story. Max Hull has returned to Cunningham Falls after almost a decade away, and is determined to try and win back the girl he let get away, problem is it was his best friend that caught her, and his accidental death is something that he blames himself for.

I haven’t done this in years. I’m not even sure what this is… Flirting?

Once again the author gave me a sweet, emotive and easy to read story that I pretty much absorbed in one sitting. Life is good in general for the residents of Cunningham Falls but Willa has suffered more loss than you would expect for a woman of her age. I loved her son Alex, and the relationship he had with Max, was just as integral to the story as Willa’s reconnection with him.

I stayed away so long, it’s like I feel as if I have to make up for lost time…

The secondary characters (of which there are many) always play an important part in Proby’s story-lines and this series is no exception, I like that we get to catch up with past characters, and their own story progressions become part of the current story playing out, and with Willa being friends with a lot of them and Max being related to several it was very much a ‘group’ progression in general.

"I’ll be here. In two days. In twenty years. And I’ll prove it to you… One day at a time."

A great addition to the series, Soaring with Fallon is due from Kristen in March, and then we get another six books from various authors, as the Crossover Collection continues the Big Sky series into 2019.

4 'Gift of Joy and Love' Stars

Waiting for Willa truly shows how powerful, emotionally and realistically a second chance romance can be in Kristen Proby's words. Willa and Max's story was in the most beautiful ways the definition of a second chance!

I've been anxiously awaiting for these two's story after the very first book of this spin off series that I love so much. When it was shown their background and how Willa moved on after the pain Max cause her by leaving when they were young, and built an amazing life for her own, I was hooked and wanted to know more.

This book had me captivated from the very beginning with that shocking Prologue, to end with that beautiful Epilogue. Both Max and Willa revealed themselves, very much in character with Ms. Proby's writing talent that I love, as very mature and realistic. And little Alex just worked as the perfect element of fusion and balance for more added realism to their evolving relationship.

The non OTT angst, but the deep emotional connection that was palpable, and the love that never truly had disappeared just made me swoon that much more for these two. Ms. Proby indeed has an extraordinary talent to make us connect and feel what her characters are feeling, and her world building and family dynamic, brilliant! So much so I'm excitedly awaiting for Fallon's story after that little tease of the intriguing character! Can't wait! <3 <3 <3 <3

Waiting for Willa was an enjoyable read, nice and sweet and I liked Max, Willa and little Alex, it was also fun to catch up with some old friends from Cunningham Falls.

I felt that some of this story was rushed the story jumped forward a few times and what was going on with her car not being fixed??? I think she uses “frown” too much 40 times in this one or it is a word that just annoys me as I mentioned this in a previous review.

I have read all of Kristen’s books this being number 37 and even though I still enjoy each book I don’t have to read it on release day anymore, her writing no longer hooks me in like it used to with her earlier series, years ago I would be dying for it to arrive on my kindle and reading it within a couple of days staying awake until stupid o’clock devouring the story.

I will continue to read her books but at a slower pace.

Max was so worth the wait.

I've been looking forward to this book for a while. I've been dying for a bit of Max since the first book in the series Charming Hannah. Max as been a bit of a mystery I knew he was close to his family but the big question was what has happened with Willa. There was sexual tension between them and he is a great guy so I really wanted to know more about there history. I could see that they were great together and if Max was near me i'd be very happy. This guy is sexy and I think Max is the best Hull brother even though Brad is great. I really liked his character he is so caring and does have a bit of guilt and regret with things that has happened with Willa. So it wasn't goin to be easy to get the friendship back to normal never mind a relationship. But he knew what he wanted he just had to see if she felt the same.

Willa is a great character and has been through a hard time but she is strong and she has had to be for her son. She is an amazing mum and works her backside of running her own business. So she doesn't have much down time. But after years of being on her own it just being her and her son she needed something else. She had close friend and they had a great relationship but the one person she missed was Max. Things had really gone well last time they met so she was sure how to put things right. They were both in the same place and just didn't know how to fix the past.

I really enjoyed this book. I knew I would when it comes to this author I always know it will be good. I enjoyed the story and getting more of the older characters is great like alway. I luvd Max and Willa together and Alex Willa's son is great to. I really liked the relationship he had with Max they were so cute together. They just clicked straight away it was great to see. I would highly recommend this book it was a great book to add to a really good series.

Kristen Proby is an author that has absolutely no trouble transporting me to my happy place with every romance she puts out into the world. She breathes life into her characters with the greatest ease and makes me fall in love with them from the very first page. She never fails at leaving me with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. Willa and Max’s story is just another example of Proby’s ability to fill hearts so full they feel like they may burst!

I’m not going into the storyline because I don't want to run the chance of spoiling anything because 𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 is a love story that MUST be relished with a clear mind and soul. I just want to express, over and over again, the fact that this book, these characters, this beautiful storyline made me so damn happy! I was overcome with emotion, both joyous and heartbreaking, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have to mention that there is a little boy in this story that steals the show on multiple occasions, and he will most definitely steal your heart. I can't wait for everyone to meet him.

I’ve fallen in love with EVERY SINGLE THING about this series! Kristen Proby NEVER dissapoints and she ALWAYS brings her A-GAME! I adore this world. I crave her words. You can't ask for anything better.

Waiting for Willa is the third in The Big Sky series. I love this series and excited to see what was causing the tension between Willa and Max. This second chance romance held its share of regrets by both characters but they worked together to overcome them.

Max and Willa were once high school sweeties. They planned a future together but unfortunately for them the timing wasn't right; Max went one way and Willa stayed in their hometown.

Max had a mind for business and grew a successful business with his friend. I understand that he wanted more but I didn't get a full understanding of what he did. He decided to return to his home town only not be shunned by the one person he was running back to Willa.

Willa has become a widow and a young mother at the young age of 22. I felt that she held onto too much anger by the death of her husband and placed blame where it didn't belong. This didn't allow her to see whose been waiting for her these past 8 years.

Max was sweet and would do anything for Willa and her son. My overall problem with the book was Willa. I didn't mind that she moved on with her life, as Max did, I had an problem with who she ran to. I felt she chose the person to get back at Max.

While it worked out for them in the end, I was left with a few questions that didn't get answered..

Great book, amazing characters. I love how Max and Willa were in love during the whole book and never had a "meeting" stage. They were high school sweethearts after all.

I'm really mad that if Jacob and Grace were going to play such a huge role they really didnt have their own full book but a novella. The book probably would've been better.

Willa Monroe and Max Hull were childhood sweethearts, dreams of a forever. That is until they realized Max dreamed of leaving and making a name for himself and Willa was happy to stay in their small town and do the same. He goes, she is heartbroken. When he pulls his head out of his ass he learns he is too late, she is dating his best friend Cary, when he goes back for 1st time in 5 yrs, she is pregnant, they are married. A ski trip will destroy everything.

Now years later, he has moved back. Made himself rich. He has kept away from her as she asked but a nudge from a friend will make him see he will have to fight for her. For them. He will need to not only win her heart again and break down her walls, but he will also need to win the heart of Alex, her son.

There will be a bunch of bumps in the road. Her lose, her blame of him, his actions in the past, the actions of a little boy and much more.

I loved this story, loved Willa, loved Max, love Alex most of all LOL. The secondary characters are great. The story flowed breezily.

One of those second chances again. Not touching those anymore. No author, imo, has done it right yet and I won’t pay to find out if this one is different.
Thanks, but no, thanks.
P.S most times heroines are made to be the weakest in these kind of stories.
P.S 2: dead husband ( who was hero’s friend) 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is the third book in The Big Sky series and the first one I have read.

Max and Willa were high school sweethearts and had planned to be together for the long haul but then Max decided to leave for college and wanted to make a life elsewhere. In the meantime Willa married Max’s best friend Cary.

Willa was widowed at a young age and was a single mom to Alex. This is a sweet story of second chance love with little angst. I did feel that maybe Willa was a bit unreasonable with her grudge against Max but it is a lovely story over all.

I loved this story; Willa and Max find each other again. Second chances are my all-time favorite listens.

I like that it didn’t feel forced their relationship has a past and they didn’t tiptoe around it. They dealt with it like adults and worked through it.

They also don’t just leap into something serious, it was give and take. Even with books this length or shorter I find authors have a hard time not rushing the story but I didn’t find that to be the case at all it felt right.

Sigh, they deserved their HEA. Great series.

The narration was perfect for this book.

Willa Monroe is a single mom to an almost nine year old and now runs her own clothing store in Cunningham Falls. She grew up there and despite some heartbreaking events, it is still her home and the small town makes her happy.

Max Hull was her first love, but he could not wait to leave the small town for college and to make something of himself. And by the time he planned to return for her, she had already moved on. And his coming back led to a chain of events that were not his fault, but he still got blamed for. And for eight years, he has felt guilty. So they have avoided being near each other and suffered in their own ways.

But now they are finally talking again and clearing the air. And Max is ready to go after the girl he lost back then. And Willa is finally ready to entertain the idea of dating again despite her abandonment issues. But Max still has some demons of his own to deal with. And life might still throw some challenges at them as well.

This is a sweet, sexy, and emotional love story about fate, forgiveness, and second chances. There is definitely more to the story than I expected from the blurb. Max is a hot, swoony, generous hero that is down to Earth despite his wealth and popularity. Willa is caring, devoted, and strong. Alex is adorable and totally steals all the scenes. Their history is marred by tragedy, but the overall tone of the book is more happy than sad. It just makes you feel good and appreciate life's blessings.

It has many cameos of characters from related stories as they are either family or friends. I love the inhabitants of Cunningham Falls and enjoy immersing myself in their world each time I pick up a new book, so I am looking forward to more. There are still some single characters and new ones showing up.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I wasn’t blown away by this one but I definitely enjoyed it.
After reading Charming Hannah, Willa’s was the story I was looking forward to most... so I went rogue! I skipped Jenna and Brooke and just dove into this one. BLASPHEMY!

I liked it better than CH. I thought there was more to it.
She’s a single mom, widow. Max was her childhood sweetheart. Her late husband was Max’s best friend. There was just more to this one... am I making any sense?

It was a quick and easy read. And it’s a complete standalone, you don’t need to read any of the other books prior to this one.

4 Sweet and Swoon-Worthy Stars!

Waiting for Willa had my heart from the very first page. From the moment I read the prologue, I found myself near tears and heartbroken. I knew Willa’s story was going to be a special one and I couldn’t wait to explore it further.

Waiting for Willa follows the story of Willa and Max. Willa and Max were childhood sweethearts and had the kind of love that dreams were made of. However, life took them down two very different paths and tore them apart. While Willa may have moved on, she never forgot her first love. Now, many years have passed and fate has decided to intervene and reunite these two former lovers. Willa is not the same girl Max knew. She’s a single mom and business owner now. But, when Max walks back into Willa’s life, all bets are off. Time may have passed, but their fire still burns hotter than ever. Will Willa and Max get their second chance at love? There’s only one way to find out…..

Is there anything that author Kristen Proby can’t write?? When it comes to sweet and sexy romance with an alpha flare there is no other author that I would turn to other than Kristen Proby. Her stories are so well written, so full of heart. And Waiting for Willa is just the latest novel of hers to capture my heart. Waiting for Willa sucked me in from the very first page and left me hanging on each word. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Willa’s strength, determination and heart. And Max…Max wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes, but he owned up to them. He loved big and he loved hard and wasn’t afraid to love everything that came along with Willa. Together, these two just made the perfect match. They interacted with one another like magnets. They just couldn’t stay away.

Waiting for Willa is a beautifully written second chance romance and a great addition to the Big Sky Series. I loved everything about this story from beginning to end and loved seeing Willa and Max fight for what they both wanted. Willa and Max’s story captured my heart and left me with a huge smile on my face.

Disappointed

So I read the Royals Family first LOOOOVED THEM then backtracked to these 3 in the series and the first was a solid 4 enjoyable, I skipped the 2nd because the blurb just didn't cut it and the heroine in that one was in book 1 and m I didn't particularly like her but this one I DNFed because of the heroine *who's overbearing and just a well you know. It made the hero to me seem to weak and a bush over, I just couldn't continue sadly.

It was kinda predictable, like I honestly cannot hell if something happened...I guess it makes the story « realistic » in a sense that the usual romance over the top drama can often be too much, so this one is different.

Some people are worth waiting for!

4.5 stars

I always love this author's stories and characters. They are sweet, funny, they deal with every day problems and they melt our heart.

And this book wasn't different. This is a standalone, that is also a part of the Big Sky series, and now we learn more about Willa and Max's story.

It's a second chance romance for more than one reason. Once high school sweethearts, they parted ways when Cunningham Falls became too small for Max.

It broke both Max and Willa's hearts, but that needed to happen, so they could grow, meet other paths in their lives, and then be ready for one another. It was necessary that Willa got married to their best friend so she could have Alex, not only an amazing kid that was Willa's world, but also someone for Max to love deeply. And that he did.

When they meet each other again, after so many years, their feelings were still there. They were only dormant for that long period. And as they started spending more time together again, their feelings are even stronger, they are wiser, and they are in the right place at the right time, finally.

They have some guilt to let go and they needed to deal with the grief they still felt, but they were together, being one another's support, and they were getting closer and closer to become a new family. And that is exactly what the three of them deserved (Willa, Max and Alex).

They fought, they disagreed, they talked, they learnt, they broke down their walls, they let the other in, they loved, they cherished and they protected.

They waited. And it was oh so worth it.

I wasn’t a fan of how this book started — H is her first love but when he moves away for college, she ends up being the gf (and later on, the wife) of the H’s best friend. Ugh. Then a few years later, on a skiing trip the husband/BFF dies in a freak accident. She blames the H. Oh and guess what? She’s pregnant, now a young widow. Oy.

Fast forward to 8yrs later. He’s back in town. She never left. She loves her hometown and is a small business owner. He’s now some hotshot billionaire. They’re at a wedding together and *gasp* he asks her to dance. She says yes. And blah blah blah, they decide to give their relationship a second chance. Because she’s the love of his life and he never stopped loving her. And her son Alex, the spitting image of the dead BFF, is an adorable cheeky monkey who helps them bridge the years... Oh, you get the picture.

I found this book to be very predictable and at times a little dull/boring. But please note, this may be purely a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.”

In conclusion, I have to say that this series isn’t giving me the same feels as her With Me in Seattle or Fusion or Boudreaux series. Here’s hoping that her next book will be more to my taste.

WOW! My heart didn’t expect all the feels this one gave me! Max and Willa had to overcome a lot to get their HEA and what a journey it was. Max and Willa were childhood sweethearts but circumstances change the course of their relationship and they haven’t spoke for 8 years.

Willa is a single mom to a 9 year old boy and successful business owner of a clothing boutique in Cunningham Falls. Max comes back into her life determined to put things right between he and Willa. Max is driven, successful and extremely wealthy. He exudes sweetness, charm, patience and love.

This is a beautifully told story of forgiveness and getting a second chance at love.

The chemistry and connection between Willa and Max was off the charts. I couldn’t get enough.

The more I read in this series the more I fall in love with the little town of Cunningham Falls. The friendships, the families, the shops I can’t get enough of!

Can’t wait to dive into Soaring Fallon next!

Max Hull left Cunningham Falls after high school, intending to make a name for himself. Returning home felt only natural after he reached his goals, and knowing Willa was there only drew him home more.

Willa Monroe stayed in Cunningham Fall, but carries hurt for all the people she feels left her. As a single mom, her focus is on her son and her business. There has never been time or interest in dating as Willa heals from her grief.

But even though it seems these two should be able to fall into things smoothly on the surface, the are each harboring baggage from their past -- guilt and fears that they will each have to learn to put aside if they are to have the second chance they both want.

I loved the way these two came back together because they are just so sweet. Willa isn’t sure she wants to trust that Max will stick around, especially because he was so bent on leaving before. But he was willing to put the effort to prove to her that he is serious this time. He knows he needs to prove his dedication because of the way she felt like he and everyone else she counted on left, so he shows her by befriending her son, helping out whenever and however he can, and just generally being around.

Returning to Cunningham Falls always feels like returning home. Seeing previous couples and other cameos helps keep the small town feeling warm and cozy, even in winter. I have to say, this is a couple I have been waiting for, as Max and Willa’s history had been shared previously. This was everything I could have hoped for from this couple.

I hadn't read a book by this author in a while, and here in Waiting for Willa I remembered why I like her books so much. Kristen Proby's books are pure romance and I love the way she writes her story.

Here we have the story of Max and Willa who were the first love of each other, but choices of life made their ways separate. Life followed and Willa married with Max's best friend, and a few years pregnant had to bury her husband.Eight years passed Max is a millionaire who returns to live in his hometown and Willa has reergueu, has a business is a fluffy child who today is nine years. And both decide to give one more chance to the love they both had.

Waiting for Willa is a story of second chances, a sweet story, without much anguish and drama. It's just a story between two people who decide to give themselves one more chance and fight to get it right. It's a story that made me smile and even shed some tears throughout the reading. It is a book that has warmed my heart and that is definitely my favorite story so far in this series.

A second chance romance has never been sweeter or sexier. It’s official this is my favorite book in the Big Sky series so far! I’ve loved every book in every series but something about this particular book resonates on such a deep level with me. I had tears during the Prologue and in the Epilogue and even a few throughout the book. That’s never happened to me before! The writing in Waiting for Willa is some of Kristen’s best ever and I’m so grateful I went on this journey with her.

My heart ached for Willa and Max for all the loss they suffered and pain they endured. They were each other’s first love and first true heartbreak. You can’t help rooting for a happy ending for these two. Willa is one of the strongest female leads I’ve ever read. Kristen always gives us badass female characters that we instantly love and want to be friends with but Willa was even more! Her strength was so admirable. Max is what all book heroes wish they could be. He was loyal, romantic, committed, patient, open and insanely hot!

This book had it all. The supporting characters in this series are so fun to read. As the mother of a 9 year old boy I can say, Kristen totally captures the spirit of Alex. He was so well written. I can’t wait to read about Fallon and Noah soon too! Hopefully Nina and Prince Sebastian too...I want them all to have their own stories.

I have been waiting for Willa and Max’s story forever. It was so worth it. This story was everything I hoped for and nothing quite like I expected — which is exactly how a story coming from the unstoppable Kristen Proby usually winds up being.

Studiously avoiding Max Hull since he has been back in Cunningham Falls because of a yet-to-be disclosed past, widower Willa Monroe tries to live her life without acknowledging the loneliness she feels even with wonderful family, friends, and a thriving business.

Max has spent the time away from Cunningham Falls becoming outrageously successful and feeling enormous guilt knowing that Willa can’t bear the sight of him.

It takes someone close to Willa, someone who becomes vital to Max, to make them realize they have another chance to make it right. Even then, forgiving someone is often easier in your heart. It can take a while for your mind a while to catch up and relieve you of the burdens you’ve been carrying for too long.

This is the classic case of “it’s not you it’s me”
I didn’t enjoy this book.
I found it predictable and i didn’t care for the the characters at all.

The H and the h allegedly were high school sweethearts and had this great love but i couldn’t grasp the greatness from what i’ve read.

I also found annoying how many times it was repeated that Max was rich, ok we get it.. no need to repeat it 100 times.

The H left to go to college and she married his best friend and had a baby with him ( totally hated this)

objectively it wasn’t a bad book but again i didn’t enjoy it, it took me forever to finish it and in the end i felt nothing, i didn’t care for them or their happy ending 🤷🏻‍♀️

Waiting on Willa https://amzn.to/2E5NMlM by Kristen Proby is 5 star Top Pick of 2019......

Yes I am staying that in February... but I loved, love this one. It is a true is a MUST CLICK...

Ms Proby delivers pure romance and passion and deep emotions and well just WOW all the way around

I am going to write this review revealing NOTHING more than the blurb because TRUST me... you are going to want to live this story as Ms Proby masterfully tells it!

I will say this book is likely best appreciated after reading Charming Hannah and Kissing Jenna because there is some great tension between Max and Willa that has the reader WANTING more about them and their past (oh because yes this is a second chance romance)

There is a history between Max and Willa we know NOTHING of the how or why other than they dated prior.

Max isn't so much more than a self-made wealthy man ...... this is NOT a book about a millionaire swooping into save the day or wooing a woman with his money. This is a man opening his heart to single mom who is a small business owner. His gestures are about making her life easier and ensuring she knows he wants to be apart of the life her and Alex (her son) have made for themselves in Cunningham Falls.

Ms. Proby THANK YOU for writing adults who behave like adults no childish games no unnecessary drama. This is a story about two people (ok well maybe three since Alex Willa's son is as it should be an integral part of this story) make LOVE 💗 work!
Waiting for Willa was everything I hoped for an then some ... Max oh MAX....

Ms. Proby bravo

I hope we get so much more of this town and the characters who feel so much like coming home

ps I hope Sebastian hangs around Cunningham Falls and that we get a story for him soon!

pss Take the time to read the author bio in this one.. it is a great lesson about life and chasing your dreams!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

4,5*s of indulgent second chance romance

This is the third in the series - and I highly recommend that you read them in order for the full experience of the goodness that is to be found in Cunningham Falls. We catch up with all our friends from previous books, and get to enjoy a significant defrosting in the situation between Max and Willa.

This story starts with the tragedy which left pregnant Willa a widow, eight years ago. In the sadness of the moment, she blamed Max for Cary's death and said she never wanted to speak to him again. They had a history which it would be difficult to imagine overcoming, but Max is back in town, and he still loves his childhood sweetheart, Willa.

The real beauty of this story is that it is obvious that they both feel the pull, yet it is deeply demanding on Willa, requiring her to change the life she has carved for her and Alex. She must come to terms with the past, acknowledge Max was not to blame, and to give herself an opportunity to love again. I loved how they both involved her son in their future, and yet also carved out time to build their relationship as a couple too. So many lovely scenes come to mind as I write this review - as with many of Kristen Proby's stories, it is so easy to visualise the people, and really wish you could meet them for a drink and catch up... Hopefully the next installment will give me that chance.

It was great to have a chance to catch up with previous couples and get to see not one wedding but two!
