Beautifully Damaged was my first book by Laura Pavlov but it won't be my last. I adored her writing even though it was written in 3rd pov and I prefer when they are in first, but unlike most 3rd pov books, it didn't bother me.

I fell a little in love with Peyton and Jackson from the very beginning and only fell more with each new chapter. Their story is told in past and present chapters but not that many past chapters, just the right amount to help you understand their demise

This is my first book by Laura Pavlov, a second chance romance between childhood sweethearts that is sweet and dramatic with a bit of angst.

Peyton is an interior designer with a booming career, great friends, and a lacklustre lovelife. She is in a relationship, but it’s more out of habit than anything else, and the added pressure of her boyfriend running for mayor makes things complicated. But her career is where it’s at, and she’s just been given a great new opportunity,

This is a sweet romance, and I don't have an issue with that. BUT, one of the challenges with a sweet, fade to black romance is that you need to make sure the connection between the characters is strong and developed.

Yes, the hot sex in romance books is fun. But, I think people also forget that sexy times also move the story forward. They bring the connection of characters to the readers through the physical intimacy of the characters. If this isn't in th

This is the first book I've read of Laura Pavlov and there is only one word for 'Beautifully damaged' that is AMAZING. As the pages were turning on my device I was feeling like I am watching a movie. It's like everything is happening right in front of my eyes. The way Laura Pavlov has described each emotion, every incident is like really really good.

The story is about the long lost lovers Peyton and Jackson. Where Peyton is already in a relationship with the guy who is standing in the elections

Peyton and Jackson's second chance at love was quite emotional, fulfilling and it will make you feel so hopeful for these two childhood best friends to finding their way back to each other again. Jackson suffered an absolute loss in his teen years, which set him up to spiral into guilt, depression and allowing himself to distance himself from his love, Peyton. Years go by and Peyton has somewhat moved on, ahead in her game, thinking the past is staying in the past, until Jackson shows up and tot ...more

Beautifully Damaged Review

"She and Jackson were different. From the first day they met as kids— they’d fit. When they were older, he’d become the other half of her soul. It’d just always felt right."

Jackson and Peyton were best friends, then lovers, until tragedy struck and tore them apart. Almost a decade later Jackson is back, and Peyton is caught completely off guard. Can the damage be undone? From the moment Peyton realizes that her new client is her long lost love, Jackson Vance, the chemis

So there it was my first Laura Pavlov book – its title ? “Beautifully Damaged”
While I am not the biggest fan of the pov it was written in and also the “now-and-then” storyline – it worked for this plot. I liked the depth of the character development and the reader could really feel the history of the leads. It was more with the present where I struggled as the book started with dropping the reader right in the middle of it. But with me it is always a hit and miss when it comes to second chance

This book is heavy on the angst let me tell you that!! From the beginning of this book, I could feel the heavy feeling settling in my body, and it just took roots and never let go before the epilog. This is a book I think a lot of you will like it because it has a lot of the popular tropes in it.
Second chance romance
Friends to lovers
highschool lovers
Slow burn

A long period of this book, Peyton is actually with another man, and there is nothing other than heavy emotions between Peyton

I have to go and be honest here:I didn't like this book.
I hate when that happens.

This story is second-chance romance and,in general, the plot wasn't bad.My biggest problem was the writing and the characters.

Peyton and Jackson met when they were kids. They both had problematic mothers and that's the thing that drew them together. Some time in their teenage years they fell in love, but they were separated by one big tragedy that ruined Jackson's life.Years later Peyton, now amazing interior designer,is

This is the first book I’ve read by Laura Pavlov and I truly enjoyed it. Slow burns are my faves and this one was really good. There was that right amount of angst that keeps you reading and wanting more.

“The one woman he wanted more than he’d thought possible would be the one woman he couldn’t have.”

Jackson Vance is what I like to call a tortured soul. He has that player reputation, but only because he’s been through so much and has closed off his heart. He wants to make amends with the girl he

Peyton has a tragic past that she has tried to move on from but she honestly doesn't know if she can ever forget the painful loss, or the man at the center of it. One point and time Jackson was her everything, then tragedy struck and he left her when she needed him the most. But now he is back... and wants a second chance, a chance to fix what he broke a long time ago.

But that may be a little easier said then done... there is someone standing in his a way, someone who wants his girl.

I am not usually a fan of stories written in 3rd person pov, however, it worked in this book. This is my first Laura Pavlov book and I will be looking into her other books.

I liked the "then and now" aspect of this book because it showed the history between Peyton and Jackson. I am a bit of a sucker for couples who have their second chance together so this helped hook me into the story.

I kind of felt that the "now" section of Peyton and Jackson's story was a little lacking. I wanted more

I have been following @laurapavlovauthor on Instagram for a while, so I have been waiting for this book! It did NOT disappoint! Jackson is one of my favorite characters (ever) and his interaction with Peyton and internal struggle is captivating. I literally could not put this book down. Lost many hours of sleep because I kept telling myself “just one more chapter”...several chapters later. I’m so excited I found this series and this author!!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series! I have ...more

This is a wonderful love story which often pulls at your heart strings. There is deep love and turmoil and everything that pulls you in and you never want to stop reading. When you are reading the emotion of Peyton and Jackson's love being torn apart leaves you as the reader feeling empty and all that follows is a wild roller coaster of emotions. I love the bond of friendship with her 2 friends Elle and Dani and hope that they also have a story. Great Read I Highly recommend this book.

I really liked Beautiful Damaged it was one of those stories that you just connect to even though this is told in 3rd person pov which is hard for me to feel a connection to . it would be the first book that I have read by the author and I am looking forwarded to reading by her in the future . Along with likening the characters they frustrated the hell out of me at time with the way they handle certain situations .

Beautifully Damaged tells the story of Peyton Kroft and Jackson Vance. Peyton and Jackson were soulmates. In love, the two vowed to stay together through it all. They were unbreakable, until an unthinkable tragedy occurs. Jackson walks out of Peyton’s life, seemingly for good. Nine years later, Jackson reappears and he’s ready to mend fences (and also Peyton’s broken heart). They both are forced to decide whether they will let the past continue to haunt them, or love each other through all their ...more

Beautifully Damaged is my first book by Laura Pavlov and it won't be my last.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up my copy of Beautifully Damaged, and when I read the first page I was a bit worried I wouldn’t be able to get into the story because I realized it was written in third POV. I'm honestly not a big fan of third POV, BUT after reading the first couple pages, I found myself easily getting suckered into the story and didn't mind at all that it wasn't written in first POV.

I got a chance to read an advance copy of Beautifully Damaged by Laura Pavlov. The opinion I’m about to disclose is my own.

I really wanted to thoroughly enjoy this book and, while it had potential to be a quality story, I think I didn’t thoroughly enjoy it because it needed a better editor. Or maybe just one person to offer constructive criticism.

The bones of the story were solid. It’s a second chance at first love story with a bit of political drama thrown in. The back half of the novel was ce

I was ready to love the story and for large swathes of it I did but I just couldn’t love it all, it came across as being more angsty that I thought necessary and that whilst it didn’t disappoint me, it did irk.
I thought the author and the story (most of the time) had the potential to give me something fabulous, it just didn’t quite hit all the high notes.
I felt a little put out initially by the fact that the story was told in the 3rd person, it isn’t my favourite dynamic, but I plough

I cannot believe that Beautifully Damaged is my first book by Laura Pavlov, as it was an emotional roller coaster of a ride that had me all messed up. It's the story of Peyton Kroft, who met her soul mate when she was 10 years old in Jackson Vance, and they planned to be together forever, until one night changed their lives. He left her, breaking her heart into pieces, and she was never the same. Yeah, I know he wasn't the same either, but he deserved the pain for how he left in my opinion. I ge ...more
When it comes to love, second chances don’t come cheap. But in her contemporary romance Beautifully Damaged (The Wild Rose Press), Laura Pavlov shows us what can happen if we’re brave enough to take the risk.

When Jackson Vance met Peyton Kroft at age ten, he knew they’d be a match. The flight to his fight, his Peanut was Jackson’s balance in an unsteady world. Living with an addict mother and a sister who he constantly had to protect wasn’t easy, but Peyton made everything better. He swore he wo

"The past hovers like a dark cloud. But every dark cloud has a silver-lining."

This "clean slate debut" is a tragic and beautiful story about loss, grief, crippling guilt, and survival. Its about finding and losing your first love and learning to build yourself back up after seemingly insurmountable tragedy.

As it goes with new-to-me (or new in general) authors, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book, but I was hooked from the ver

“Beautifully Damaged it’s an amazing book. Laura writing skills amazed me, I was completely trapped on the story. I couldn’t put it down until I reached the very last page. A so well-developed story.

Peyton and Jackson. Lost lovers. A past that still hurts.

When Jackson left Peyton, he broke her heart. He crushed her. Nine years have past. Now, she’s successful woman. Dating Sebastian, a mayor election candidate. Outstanding at her job, she is living her life to the best.

Such a heart warming, emotional read that I couldn’t put down once I started. It takes a difficult situation and walks you through all the stages of grief someone can go through. The author portrayed this story so well, I’m pretty sure these people are my friends now. There were tears, laughter, cursing and every emotion in between when I was reading this book.

This author definitely has a way with words. She sucked me in from the first word - until i got to the last page. It is full of emotion

Jackson and Peyton had history. They were childhood friends that later turned into more and then it went terribly wrong. Fast forward 9 years and he returns for closure but doesn’t expect all those old feelings to return. When Jackson returns she’s currently in a relationship and only wanted closure but the heart wants what the heart wants. If didn’t started as a reconnection it started as a business venture and things just started again. Yes Peyton was in a relationship BUT not what you’re thin ...more

This was my first experience reading this author's work but it definitely won't be the last -- I enjoyed this book so much! I read it in less than 2 days because I couldn't put it down. It's a beautiful, emotional second-chance romance that could also be considered romantic suspense because of the secondary storyline which really added to the whole experience of this read. I found a lot to like in this book.  Not necessarily love, because I don't think that this couple provoked that deep emotional response that pulls a 5* review from me.  But don't let that dissuade you from taking a look.

This is a solid story.  The couple are likeable, even if some of the decisions made may frustrate you.  The 'then and now' narrative style also works really well against the backdrop of this tale and helps to colour in not only the history of the relationship, but sets context fo
