Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.
This is a fun read, the illustrations are bright and colourful and it could be enjoyed by FS and KS1 children. There is rhyme throughout so it would be good to practice phonics, and there are some good examples of description and 'wow words'. It is about lots of different exotic animals which children would enjoy learning about and could link to geography and habitats so children could think about where they could find them. It's also about friendship and loneliness. It's quite short so would be a good book to read just before lunch/end of the day if there wasn't much time.
