The sorceress Arcana and her soulmerged deerken companion Caelum have spent fifty years traversing the galaxy, following the song that haunts Caelum's dreams in an attempt to solve the mystery of their creation.
Fenris, stalwart Guardian of the Weaver and her Timeless Kingdom, leaps into a destabilised portal to escape the clutches of a madman intent on possessing the Weaver and using his army of warg to control the entirety of time and space.
Thrust together by the mysterious threads of fate, the trio cross the galaxy in a last ditch attempt to avert disaster. The tall, brooding Fenris holds the key to unlocking the mystery of Arcana and Caelum's past, whilst they in turn have the skills to liberate his trapped queen and vanquish the bloodthirsty warg, who threaten the very fabric of reality.
To succeed, Fenris and Arcana must confront not only their own personal demons but the deep passion which threatens to bloom between them - or risk the complete and utter destruction of everything they hold dear.
My name is Samantha Marshall and I’m an author of speculative fiction, a mother to two tiny dictators, an artist, a keen drinker of chai tea and, in my spare time, a unicorn.
I’ve been living stories as long as I can remember, telling them from the moment I could talk and writing them from the moment I could clumsily grip a crayon. Where I go, stories follow, like glitter on concert night. I see potential in things both strange and normal, am struck by inspiration in often unlikely places.
I believe in writing to the best of my ability, breathing life into my characters, always pushing the proverbial envelope, and dragons.
Ever since she was soulmerged with Caelum, a dearken who speaks (and he speaks his own mind pretty often!), Arcana has been unable to find a place among her own people - or indeed anywhere. But then she meets Fenris, an injured Guardian from the Timeless Kingdom. Arcana's unusual magic may just be the key to saving Fenris' home - and maybe even the entire galaxy.
This reminded me of retro space/fantasy adventures - and that's a good thing! I've always had a soft spot for magic and stars sharing the same setting. Arcana is the snarkiest, kick-arse heroine since Aelin Galathynius (but a lot more mature!) and I adore Caelum. He had a particularly touching journey that I won't spoil, because it was really quite lovely. The storyline also took some delightfully unexpected turns.
I do think, however, that this might have been better as two books instead of one.

Sorcery and stardust is AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed falling head first into this book. I struggled to pull myself away to cook dinner on a few occasions! The depth of the characters is fantastic, Caelum had me literally laughing out loud (which has never happened reading a book before). I feel like I’m suffering withdrawals thinking about all the ‘what if’s’ for what could happen next and gearing up to re-read it to see what I may have missed the first time through! I’m currently very impatiently waiting for the next instalment to follow the adventure.....
What an enchanting and fantastical read Sorcery and Stardust was. I’m not usually a Sci-fi/Fantasy Romance kind of person, but this book really captivated me.
While this book is longer than your average romance, the world building and imagination was amazing and kept me hooked. I love all the characters Samantha Marshall has presented, and am really looking forward to reading the next instalment of this series.
This was so likeable, the story, the characters and the setting. So much happens that it seems to explode off the page and there is so much magic. All types, almost too much to keep up with but it works, and is fun along the way. Loved it and was so disappointed I have to wait for the next book. Rest assured I will be reading it as soon as it arrives.
A surprisingly fun romp through space. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Not because I didn’t think I’d like it, but just because at first glance I thought it might not be ‘my thing’. Looking forward to seeing what Fenris, Arcana and Caelum get up to in the next book.
A fantastic book that keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense yet belly laughing at the things characters say! Very well written. Now waiting impatiently for book 2.
Sorcery and Stardust is an epic tale. Samantha Marshall has an incredible imagination and is a readers delight. The characters and their back stories are solid and complex. I loved the depth of detail on the worlds too. I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy and I have had so much enjoyment reading this book. As I was getting closer to the end I realised I would need book 2 straight away because the story hasn't finished yet. I need to know what happens next so badly. I'm emotionally invested in the characters and hope they get a HEA
I was fortunate enough to be a beta reader for Samantha, and l have to say that l consider myself lucky to be so chosen. Sorcery and Stardust is a thoroughly engrossing and enjoyable story. I was glued to it and simply cannot wait for book two in the series. The characters are a delight, and l have to complain that l don't have my own certified spacedeer! Go team Caelum. #certified spacedeer.
