Family Flip Flap

Family Flip Flap is a re-issue of a limited run book from 1982 (previously entitled Family Scramble), illustrated by classic children’s illustrator, Maureen Roffey. The tops and bottoms of faces are bisected so that they can be mixed and matched to uproarious effect; Aunt Helen sucks a pacifier, Tiny Tess mends a car, Mommy makes a mess and Daddy does his homework. Whilst there are other flip-flap face books on the market, the family element makes this uniquely hilarious, and children ages two and up will delight in subverting traditional adult-child roles. Clear, accessible illustrations maintain their vintage feel whilst being further revived by the use of pantone printing.

Książeczki dla najmłodszych bywają różne, ale najlepsze, to takie, które jednocześnie uczą i bawią, a nawet rozśmieszają - "Przekładkiewiczowie", to właśnie taka pozycja, idealna dla malucha i do pracy z maluchem.
Maureen Roffey wpadła na genialny, prosty pomysł, który zrealizowała i podarowała dzieciom i rodzicom materiał do przepracowania. Ważne jest, że to naprawdę prosta konstrukcja, w której łatwo się połapać od pierwszej chwili. Dziecko nie będzie miało trudności w zrozumieniu : ale o co chodzi? tylko zacznie się z miejsca dobrze bawić. Ja sama miałam wielką uciechę, bo trudno się nie uśmiechnąć, gdy widzi się mamę, która zapuszcza brodę... a może to był Bartuś? Hmmmm... jednak nie, pewnie to Piotruś? Och nie, Piotruś przecież naprawia samochód... ależ skąd! Piotruś nie ma zęba! Bzdura! Piotruś ma wysypkę i kropka.
Ciekawa jest ta rodzinka Przekładkiewiczów, ale jedno jest pewne - dzielą się obowiązkami i czasem nawet Bartuś pudruje pupę bobasa... tylko, że Bartuś jest bobasem... Całe to zmieszanie dostajemy dzięki zwykłemu podzieleniu strony na pół i mamy możliwość przekładania na prawo i lewo, jak nam się podoba, na śmieszno i na poważnie.
Książeczka jest bardzo ładnie wydana. Ma tekturową okładkę i strony, jest tu trzynaście plansz z wizerunkami poszczególnych członków rodziny Przekładkiewiczów. Format do kwadratu, przyjemny dla malucha. Całość niezwykle uroczo się prezentuje. Jeśli macie bobasy, to kupcie koniecznie.

This perfectly-named board book will provide much amusement for young readers. Because it relies on pages that have been cut in half horizontally, readers can flip both pages at the same time or the one at the top or the one at the bottom. This results in plenty of amusing and gender-shifting images as Brother Bill puts on his makeup and an elderly aunt drinks milk from a baby bottle. It all starts innocently enough with a boy working on his homework and ends with a grandmother knitting a sock, but the flaps make for different images to consider. Originally published in 1987, this book might spur some conversations about the traditional roles of certain adults as well as providing some humor. I was particularly impressed with how well the top half of the illustrations on each page fit the bottom page.
