Idk, I feel like it resolved very abruptly but it also wasn't a nonsensical resolution either

Another Conard County: The Next Generation installment that focuses on nurse Haley McKinsey when she returns to her grandmother's house, which she has inherited, to clean it out. Will she stay or go back to Baltimore? She isn't sure, but is leaning toward staying until she wakes to catch a glimpse of a peeping Tom in her window, an event that sends her mind whirling back to when she was 5 and was kidnapped.

As she continues to go through her grandmother's things, Haley gets to know the neighbor boy, now a man, one Roger McLeod, whom she remembers from when she used to visit her grandmother. They become friends and he worries about how much that peeping Tom has wrecked Haley's sense of safety.

When she drives to an airport to visit a friend, however, she is run off the road and almost killed. When the sheriff concludes it was no accident, no one knows who it might have been until the perpetrator delivers something to the door and Haley hears his voice: the same voice of the kidnapper.

How this all plays out is face-paced but predictable.

Haley McKinsey returns to Conard County to settle her grandmother’s estate. She lived there as a child and was kidnapped. While she was found, the trauma left a lasting impact on her and her family. Her return has Haley confronting the issue again with the support of her friend Roger McLeod. The kidnapper had left town, but returned on his retirement and sees Haley as a threat to his place in the community.. it was enjoyable with twists and turns. Being a fan of the Conard County series it’s fun to see and hear about characters from earlier books.

I love the Conard County series by Rachel Lee. This one started a little slower but picks up the pace as a stalker makes deadly plans for the heroine. Haley has to work through flashbacks, trauma, and tensions of something that happened when she was a child. Our hero, Roger, is there to help her deal with her feelings of being a coward.

Good read but a major editing issue

I do love visiting conard county. And this was a good read. A major edit problem though. Early in the book we hear that the hero's dad is living with his brother. Later in the book it says he died of a heart attack
