I have to admit at about a quarter into this book, I couldn’t figure out what was businesslike about the marriage of this couple at all, because quite frankly they seemed to have fallen quite thoroughly in love with each other while exploring Florence (and where better?) However, as the story went on, I came to realise that Aidan was in absolutely no fit state to have his heart engaged, no matter how well he and Estelle suited each other. Aidan’s past is a very slow reveal, with a dead first wif ...more

4.5 stars as reviewed at Roses Are Blue:

Estelle Brannagh is in Florence, enjoying the beautiful city, and pondering her uncertain future. Her two sisters have married, and she has left her aunt’s household to travel. She sees a handsome gentleman, and they play a game of covertly looking at each other while trying not to meet the other’s eyes. After a couple days of this, the man, Aidan Malahide, finally approaches Estelle. Aidan is Irish, a widower, who has taken a one year sabbatical
It's always a treat to pick up a book by Ms. Kaye. I've been on a tear of crime/noir books lately, but I didn't want to go back to romance until I had her latest in my hands. (It's too early for Christmas - I'm saving the duet for next month, while I'm anxiously awaiting the final book in this series!)

This is the third of the Penniless Brides of Convenience series, and stars the third and final sister, Estelle. Estelle is wandering around Florence when she spots a striking man, to wh

The third instalment of Marguerite Kaye's penniless brides of convenience series finds Estelle Brannagh travelling in Italy when she meets troubled Aidan Malhide and proceeds to enter into a convenient marriage which will change both her and Aidan's lives in ways they could never imagine.
Interestingly, the book starts with a mysterious prologue in which Estelle worries about finding out the truth about her husband, and this cleverly pulls the reader into the action and leaves you wanting t

The Truth Behind Their Practical Marriage is the third book in the Penniless Brides of Convenience series by Marguerite Kaye. It can easily be read as a standalone story.

Miss Estelle Brannagh considers herself an independent woman and making the most of her independence sees her enjoying the male equivalent of a European 'Grand Tour'. It is when she is in Italy drinking a cup of coffee in an outdoor cafe that she first spots Aidan Malahide. She doesn't know who he is but something ab

Absolutely fantastic read, an emotional roller coaster if emotions and a happy ever after most definitely hard won by our hero and heroine, brilliantly written as always and Aiden and Estelle make a fantastic pair. Each with demons to be sure but as always I say love is the best medicine.

Thank you Ms Kaye for another brilliant book

For me this is a book in two halves. The first half is fairly light and filled with images of Italy. Estelle meets Aidan in Florence and they share meals, walks and lovely views. Eventually the times comes when our heroine has to decide whether she’s going to carry on travelling and the hero needs to return to his estate. Instead he comes up with the idea of them marrying. This is the stage where it’s useful if you’ve read the series. Normally it doesn’t matter but to understand why

The Truth Behind Their Practical Marriage is book three in the Penniless Brides Of Convenience series of historical romances.

This is Estelle’s story―so far she has seen both of her sisters settled in happy marriages, while she is still searching for her calling. While travelling alone on the Continent, a rarity for a woman in the 1800s, Estelle meets Aidan. He is a mathematician from Ireland who is studying in Florence. They spend idyllic days together away from the outside world. Se
The Truth Behind their Practical Marriage is the third book in author Marguerite Kaye’s "Penniless Brides of Convenience" series. This story focuses on Estelle one of the twin sisters that we met in the previous two books in this series. Although this is the third of a four-book series, you could easily read this story as a stand-alone. But to truly appreciate this story and series, I highly recommend you read the previous books!

Estelle Brannagh is traveling around Europe by herself.

This is book 3 in the penniless brides of convenience series. The first two books in the series are the earls countess of convenience and a wife worth investing in.

Miss Estelle Brannagh is the twin sister to phoebe from the second book in our penniles brides of convenience series. After both her sisters get married and make something of themselfs, Estelle is determined to do the same. She decides to go travelling on her own and was quite content, that is until Aidan Malatide catches

A dark gothic romance with a tortured hero, but a strong beautiful heroine.
Meeting in Florence, Aidan and Estelle grow closer as friends. In just a few weeks they strike a bargain, marriage as companions with no intimacy. Everything falls inline with their expectations, until they reach his castle in Ireland. Their fragile relationship starts to fall apart when Aidan's secrets concerning his first wife and her death build a wall between them. Desperate to keep their marri

I loved the beginning in Florence, and I liked Aidan's tortured soul. The stories of these 3 sisters are very good, all the three rose from their ashes and found true love.
I'm waiting for Aunt Kate's story.

Excellent! I loved the Irish connection in this book. Starting in Florence, with gorgeous descriptions of the city, we follow the story of Estelle Brannagh & Aidan Malahide through the streets and sights of Florence to the lush, green countryside of Ireland. As usual Marguerite Kaye's attention to detail draws you in and captivates you. A real page turner.

The Truth Behind Their Practical Marriage is the third book in the Penniless Brides of Convenience series. We join Estelle Brannagh and Aidan Malahide in this story of finding love after swearing never to succumb.

Estelle and Aidan meet each other whilst they are both in Italy and they connect instantly. The attraction they share leads them to spending some glorious days together in the Italian sunshine as they gradually get to know each other. Unable to part ways at the end of their
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This is the third in the series of the Penniless Brides of Convenience books and focuses on sister Estelle and her convenient husband Aidan. I recommend reading the other two books first to give some context but the other sisters only have a short cameo in this book and it can be read as a stand-alone.

I should start by saying that I couldn’t really take to Estelle or her twin. This is not the fault of the write
