Forever Ventured

Rate this book
Wyatt Davies is faced with a hard choice: give up being a veterinarian or give up the family horse racing farm he inherited. He has one chance to save the farm and that chance lies with horse trainer Camila Callahan.

Camila was raised by the United Kingdom's greatest horse trainer, and he taught her everything he knew. But everyone always saw her as the cute girl in pigtails riding on her dad's shoulders instead of the great trainer she could be if given the chance. And then she saw an ad about an opportunity in the United States.

Camila leaves everything behind to go all in with Wyatt Davies only to discover Wyatt has a horse with huge potential. And with that potential comes a lot of danger. Wyatt and Camila are in a race to uncover the threat as both of their careers and lives are at stake.

After all . . . nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Kathleen Brooks book just keep getting better. I have read everyone and I have to say, this one is my favorite. I have always had a special place for Wyatt, as he is always the one to help everyone but doesn't ask for help when he needs it the most.

Chamila is trying to make a name for herself that doesn't have any ties to her father. When she answers the ad that Wyatt put out out for a trainer, both of there lives charge for the better!

I love the team Wyatt puts together to help run the farm to his jockey on top of Ruth's Gent. I also love of he held the memory of his grandmother, Ruth in most of the thing he did, Like putting that lipstick on every evening and kissing all the horses!

Love this Bluegrass series

I absolutely love this series and I make sure to preorder a new release and I patiently wait for it drop in my kindle. This book was no different. All the stories are based around a small country town that has some interesting characters. I love seeing these characters show up in each book. I fully advise reading this series in the correct order so you know who belongs to which family.

Wyatt inherited his grandparents farm and with it came lots of responsibility. Not only is he trying to keep a large farm afloat, but he is also the towns large animal veterinarian. Camille has showed up at his farm and wants to be his new horse trainer. After figuring out a deal, she was hired. They entered some smaller races to get points so they can compete in the Kentucky Derby. Many things take a twist at the races and this is where the well written suspense of the story comes in. To add to the drama, Wyatt hires a new jockey named, Mike. There is a lot of family dynamics that come into play for both, Mike and Cami’s families.

Order this book if you are familiar with the series and enjoy watching Wyatt mature further as you read and watch him get his HEA. If you just found this series, order the first book and keep going....enjoy the world of the Bluegrass series.

Ruth's Gentleman

Wyatt was truly a gem. The quiet hard working cry won me over with his determination and grit. He took chances and made a team of underdogs in truths. First with Bud, his ranch hand. Next came Camila, her fierce determination and love for horses and proving her self sealed it for me. Michaela the hockey who was blackballed ended the quartet that is Wyatt Farms.... Together they brought the farm out of darkness and into a light and happy snicker and red lipstick marks.

Forever ventured is the twelfth book in the Forever Bluegrass series (Bluegrass Book #26) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm.
A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up.
Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read.
With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all.
The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter.
But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating.
I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed.
Happy reading! 📚💙

Forever Ventured - Forever Bluegrass

This was an amazing addition to the Forever Bluegrass series with Wyatt finding the love of his life, Camilla, a horse trainer who saved his horse farm from bankruptcy and got it out of debt by training Gent and making him a true winner. This was his destiny when Nanna Ruth left him the horse farm when she died. Wyatt veterinary practice was busy and their horses started winning races under Camilla's training and their new jockey Michaela, everything was falling in place just as his grandmother predicted. After a development at the racetrack that was threatening Wyatt's reputation Piper stepped in and worked her magic and got to the bottom of the threat to their horses from a new synthetic drug some horses were being killed by that was almost undetectable to the tracks testing. It was an elaborate money laundering scheme and Piper had to devise a test to detect the drug in the horse's blood stream before more horses were killed by this new drug named popular that they were mysteriously being given by unknown dividuals. As the town worked together to take down these people, Wyatt and Camilla were falling more in love everyday as they worked together. It was an exciting suspenseful story as they took down this syndicate and Gent won the Derby and Wyatt won Camilla's heart. It was a fantastic book in this incredible series. I cannot wait to read the next release.

A wonderfully sweet romance

Wyatt is about to lose his beloved farm..he’s worked so hard years and his last hopes are pinned on getting Grandma Ruth’s baby ready for the races, but he needs a trainer. Poor Camila had to cross the pond to the US to find a rancher willing to give her a chance to prove her skills. She learned everything she know from her father and even he didn’t have faith in her abilities..maybe the handsome Wyatt will give her a chance. Together, maybe they’ll both get what they need and as a bonus..something more.

Kathleen has done it again. Wyatt and Camila are a perfect romantic couple. As the grandson of Beauford, Wyatt is a gentleman through and through, but watching he and Camilla build their relationship was the stuff romance novels were made for..we got a chance to see some babies being born..ushering in the next generation of Keenestonites...we got to see new romance bloom, welcome new family members into our Southern fold, and it wouldn’t be a Kathleen Brooks novel without some gun toting, face punching, and anything from our beloved Aniyah.

This book is a wonderful addition to out Keeneston family..you’ll laugh, cry, holler, and fall in love all over again.

Bloodlines = Family

Where to start? This is one of my favorite books so far in the Bluegrass/Forever series. Wyatt and Camila are absolutely perfect for each other!

The grief felt at the beginning of the book had me reaching for the tissues. That wasn't the only time that I was grabbing for something to wipe my eyes but the other times were in sheer joy and sentimentality.

Wyatt, Camila, and jockey Michaela all had something to prove to themselves and their families. Even though their struggles were similar, they were each uniquely different. By joining forces, they were able to overcome many obstacles and, even though they were competing against many outside forces and their own families, they came through stronger and more secure in the love of their respective families.

The descriptions of the horse races were so vivid that you could almost feel the groundshaking hoofbeats and see the dust flying from the horse's hooves! The mystery woven throughout the story was both intriguing and frightening. Sadly, another family felt the sting when the wrongdoers were exposed.

Kudos to Kathleen Brooks for another breath-taking love story from Keeneston. I can't wait for Jackson's story!

And the winner is.....

It is almost starting to sound like "old news" when I say that Kathleen Brooks has done it again with another winner of a story, but telling the truth dictates it.

A story within a story is what you get. A story of talented women being held back in a male dominated field, proving themselves, a son shouldering the burden of continuing a legacy, and love smacking someone right between the eyes.... A perfect storm and an even better story of small towns, the large family, and a supportive community.

Wow! This review probably lacks the finesse of others, but it makes sense when you enter the small, yet mighty, town of Keenston, Kentucky, told by Kathleen Brooks. While all stories can stand alone, it is more enjoyable if read in succession. Start with Bluegrass state of mind and go from there. I guarantee you that you wish the little town really existed and that the characters were real. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will have too many book boyfriends to count. Highly recommended and if I could.... It would be 6 stars.

Going to be broken...

Budget that is, Ms. Brooks! What can I say that I haven't already said in all the Keenston, Shadow's Landing, Women of Power...well you get the point!

If you haven't, how could you not, read Kathleen Brooks novel, you are truly missing so much! Humor. Intrigue. Danger. and so it goes, and of course Killer heroines, and super strong gorgeous heroes!
All can be read alone, but to truly appreciate, check out her website on Amazon, or other Sellars, and they're listed in order of publication date, newest to oldest, go to the beginnings with each series, the fun is completely worth it!
The writing is entertaining, enthralling, and frankly, my account is going to be broken ...yet I have already pre-ordered Shadow's Landing third book, and Jackson's story from Keenston cannot come out soon enough! Did I say, broken, as financially...lol
Love your books, and am always waiting for whatever is coming!

This is easily my favorite of the forever series. There was minimal interaction with the Rose sisters (who drive me absolutely insane), and the parents all came across as real people instead of caricatures of themselves. There is no begging the parents and family to be nice to the new significant other, everything just settles in nicely.
I was VERY excited that June & Julius came back. I’ve been waiting for an reappearance from them since the very first book, and was always disappointed that they seemed to fall off the face of the earth.
All in all, a quick fun read that had me laughing and a crying a little, and Never once during this book did I find myself thinking about how much I despise a character.

Another wonderfully written story for the Forever Bluegrass series. I can never get enough of those loving and hilarious citizens in Keeneston, Kentucky. Wyatt and Cami are a hot and sexy couple who deliver the steamy love story in this book. My other favorite thing is a good romantic suspense and Ms. Brooks delivers here with an interesting story of drug use in horse racing. It was a page turner and I had a hard time trying to figure out who was the culprit. I was surprised which is always the sign of a well written suspense! I also had tears when the family and friends of Keeneston come together to save the day. I also had tears just reading of all the romance Wyatt gave to Camila. Add some great laughs and man, I want more. Great epilogue of things to come.

Another glorious and hilarious read...

I never ever tire of this series! This time around it's young Wyatt Davies that ends up falling in love. The path to it is rather interesting...starting with a strong fiery, big hearted Irish woman out to prove her worth as a horse trainer out from her famous Da's shadow. Taking Wyatt's job offer on faith alone their lives are about to get interesting. Horses mysteriously falling ill on the track with no proof of tampering. Yet everything in Wyatt screams tampering. Danger once again comes to Keeneston, and their town is out to find who is being this horrific plan. Suspense, humor, and a town filled with well meaning busy bodies...and maybe the birth of a baby or two along the way!

ANOTHER EXCELLENT STORY!!!!

I love Kathleen Brooks' books. You always know you are in for a really interesting and riveting read and this one is no exception. As usual all the support, Love and caring displayed by all the different families and townspeople is heartwarming and touching. I loved Wyatt and Cami together, theirs was a lovely romance with no angst which made it all the sweeter. The mysterious happenings at the track were suspenseful and I enjoyed learning about all the ins and outs of horse racing. All in all it was a very enjoyable addition to the Forever Bluegrass series. I loved the epilogue and highly recommend the book if you are looking for a nice satisfying story that grabs your attention from the first words to the last!!!!

Dream and believe

I was surprised, it took me a little to get into the book but once I did, it was OMG and lots of laughing and suspense. This is Wyatt's story and we are introduced to Camila. Camila is a horse trainer and Wyatt was in need of one if he was going to save his farm and legacy. The chemistry was instant between the two but both were so intent on proving they had what it took, it took a while for them to acknowledge it! As with any Kathleen book the suspense and drama was there. Not like the other books but the town enveloped Wyatt and Camila to solve the mystery. Of course it is always nice getting updates on all your favorite characters too. Now bring in Jackson!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!

Forever Ventured follows Wyatt Davies, who faces the tough decision of saving his family’s horse farm or his veterinary career. He finds an ally in horse trainer Camila Callahan, whose expertise may be the key to saving the farm. Together, they uncover a dangerous threat that could cost them both their careers—and their lives.
The chemistry between Wyatt and Camila is undeniable, and their shared journey is full of suspense and heart. Brooks brings the thrill of horse racing into the story, weaving a tense, high-stakes narrative that keeps readers hooked. The emotional growth of both characters is a highlight, making this book a standout in the series. Forever Ventured is a fast-paced, gripping read with a perfect blend of romance and danger.

Forever Ventured

This is Wyatt's story, taken place when Nana Ruth passed away. Wyatt is trying to run the family farm, be a large animal Veterinarian, and not disappoint his Nana Ruth. He places an ad for a horse trainer but not sure how he is going to pay them when he is broke. Camila is determined to be a horse trainer and prove to her father that women can train horses just as good as men. Wyatt and Cami are falling for each other, but she is not from Keenston so how will that work ? They are trying to find out who is drugging horses to make them win ? Can Cami prove that she has what it takes to be a horse trainer and has Wyatt found the one ?

So so good!

Ill be honest I preordered this book! But I could start reading it. I wanted to read it I just didn't want Wyatts story to end!! I needed him to get a happy ending. Thank goodness Kathleen Brooks didn't disappoint. Amazing story, love the series, families, connections, history, everything about the series and this book. I laughed out loud, I sobbed real ugly tears for Nana Ruth, and cried again at the end. So did I enjoy this book, definately, would I recommend the book, tenfold. Should readers consider reading the series, with a doubt. Action, intrigue, love, romance, family, suspense and excellent writing - not to be missed.

I was looking forward to Wyatt's story and it didn't disappoint. I loved his kissing the horses with the red lipstick to honor his great-grandmother. The intrigue and mystery surrounding what criminals will do to try and win at gambling on horses was interesting. It was sad that people were willing to kill horses to further their agendas. Felt Wyatt and Camilla were well suited for one another. He was a stand-up guy throughout. Loved how all of the town got involved. Was especially fond of Ruth's Gentleman and what a great personality Kathleen Brooks was able to give him. Their ending was perfect for them.

Back to Keeneston and the races

In this twelfth novel of the Forever Bluegrass series, Brooks focuses on Wyatt Davies and the horse farm he inherited from his great-grandmother, Ruth Wyatt plus Camila Callahan, the Irish trainer he hires for a very special horse. I am always intrigued at the ability of this author to bring in new characters and situations to her fabulous fictional town of Keeneston, weaving a storyline that is suspenseful, romantic, and timely. I continue to urge fans of romantic suspense to visit Keeneston...you’ll be glad you did.

Wyatt and Camilla story was awesome. Wyatt’s great grandma died leaving him the farm the house and the race horses. Wyatt places an ad for a trainer. Camilla an Irish girl grew up with her father training horses but couldn’t get a job in Europe because she was a woman. So she flew to United States and applied for job to train Wyatt’s horses and mange the barns. As usual, there is plenty of excitement and laughs. Suspenseful trying to get to derby and eventually the triple crown, but someone is trying to drug the horse. Nice stories. Kathleen Brooks never disappoint.

Another Amazing Read

I bought Bluegrass State of Mind, on November 24, 2013 and 6 years and 26 books later I can't wait for the next family members story. At least once a year I start at the beginning and read all of them again. They have excellent storylines. The characters will make you laugh and cry and wish you lived in Keeneston, Kentucky. I recommend starting at the beginning to get to know all of the quirky characters. I would recommend all of Kathleen's series . They are all excellent. She is one of my favorite authors. I know I won't be disappointed.

Author Kathleen Brooks composes soul touching stories that will have you addicted and wanting more. Each book gets better and better. I love all her books and will continue to read them over and over again. I highly recommend this additive story.

Romance, suspense (but not dark), and sucking you into a world you wish was real!

Keeneston, Kentucky would be my first choice to go live if it were real. Kathleen sucks you in where you feel like you are part of the story. Wyatt's story was amazing and wonderful and brought a whole new group of people who fit right in. I loved the horse racing piece and learned some things. And I am all about "proving oneself" as this occurred throughout.

Really Good

It’s finally Wyatt’s turn! Wyatt is trying run the family farm while running all over town taking care of large animals. He is trying to keep his head above water but if he doesn’t get a horse trainer he will v]be sunk. Camilla needs someone to take a chance in her and let her train their race horse so she can prove herself, she hoping Wyatt is that person.

This two are meant for each other in so many ways. You won’t be disappointed with this story.

Triple crown of books! Characters, plot, and direction!

Kathleen Brooks does it yet again! With her distinctive ability to weave love with subtle mystery and suspense, she takes you on a journey with Dr. Wyatt Davies as he tries to understand sudden changes in his patients, all while keeping his struggling farm afloat and falling for his beautiful trainer Camilla.

Worthy of not five but 10 stars !!!

I absolutely love Kathleen Brooks and her made up town of Keeneston. The characters feel like friends and the stories are filled with suspense, humor and romance who could ask for more. Forever Ventured is no exception. Wyatt and Camila struggle to save Wyatt farm while there are some rivals at the racetrack that turn dangerous. All that said I only gave 4 ⭐️ because I found that there were a lot of typos which is my biggest pet peeve when reading. She’s still my favorite author and I will continue to buy her books. Hopefully the next will have better editing.

Fantastic read

I absolutely love Keenston and all the brilliant characters who live there. This is a gem of a book and really cheered up my day, any scene that Aniyah is in is hilarious. I have read all of the Keenston books from Bluegrass State of Mind to Forever Ventured and they all offer something different. Wyatt and Camilla were made for each other. I am really looking forward to Jackson 's book.
