Odd Blend of Japanese Martial Arts with Business

By the way, in case you're curious, the single word title is not the English word “do”; rather it is the Japanese word meaning way. I had some issues with this book. First of all, it seemed like it took a bit to actually get to the book proper. There are several forwards (though one isn’t marked as such) and a long introduction, and everything seeming to hype what was to follow rather than just getting to the point. Once I got to the actual chapters, I thought that the author spent too much time sharing stories and client examples, not making the ideas universally applicable. I do like non-fiction books that have stories, but there has to be a balance in a book like this that is supposed to be about action. It is also super intense, almost strident in tone. I found that a bit much. I also thought the blending of Japanese martial arts and business didn't quite work for me. I guess I was hoping for a more personal self-help book, but this wasn't that. All in all, I found myself disappointed with this book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
