To Elise I was transparent. That’s the kind of thing I would write in my journal, if I was the kind of pussy that kept a journal.
Ed Grey lived the most during the summers, when he can be with Elise - the one normal thing in his life.

He's had a hard life - his parents were rather absentee, school was never a place to look forward to and even now, when you'd think things would finally get better, life has taken a serious turn for the worse.
The screen read mom. “Hey is everything ok? It’s 2:30

When Holden Caulfield said that “people are always ruining things for you,” it wasn’t just the rant of some disaffected youth. It was an accurate assessment of certain parts of our world. Too often characterized as a tale of immaturity, immorality, or even juvenile angst, The Catcher in the Rye is really a portrait of a young man who struggles to make sense of his life and understand the role of compassion and human agency in the midst of a Kafkaesque nightmare.
But, not everyone outgrows Holden’

I liked this book because it could hit close to home for a few people. to me this book had mystery and thriller and a little suspense as well. Boys can be creepy sometimes but girls can be too. This book kept me reading all the way through. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

This is my first book by Rue and it won't be the last. Her writing is raw and gripping. I felt like I was inside Ed's head and boy, let me tell you, it's creepy. But it's also real. Ed talks like we talk. His inner dialogue was so funny that I literally LOL'd a few times. We see Ed's past through flashbacks and begin to realize why he's as messed up as he is. It's actually a sad commentary on how many children and teenagers fall through the cracks and end up unable to lead normal lives as adults ...more

A really great read

This is my first read by Rue, and after reading My Summer Friend, I am a fan. Rue writes an interesting and raw story, bringing intriguing and facade building characteristics to Ed. He's one of those characters that has a lot of layers to him. He is rebuilding his life, but not necessarily in a good way. He starts on a thrilling path of obsession and lies. It's a great novella that tells an intriguing story. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This was an intriguing read told in a back and forth manner that kept me guessing and interested right up to the ending that I never saw coming. It was told in a gritty fashion that made the main character seem very real, allowing you to feel everything he felt. I really enjoyed it.

Amazing! As close to a modern Catcher in the Rye as there is.
