Exactly what I needed

I have been reading a lot of just so-so books recently. I wasn't sure if it was because of the quality of books or if maybe my head has been in a funny space as a result of quarantine during this pandemic.

After reading this, I have to assume it was the books I was reading. Because this one had me hooked and invested. It was one of those where it is really inconvenient when you have to do things like sleep, eat, or log into work.

Eve owns her own marketing company and also has

4.5* – Who doesn’t love an ice queen? Eve Marlow has good reasons to protect her heart, and herself in general, and that no-nonsense you-do-what-you-have-to-do quality has come in very handy in her job as a TV personality helping faltering small businesses flourish. Not even the iciest of ice queens, however, can leave newborn kittens to die in a trash can on the street. Yet there’s a difference between not wanting them to die and taking responsibility for them, especially when she has to focus ...more

If you’re on Kindle Unlimited (UK) do yourself a favour and download this now. It makes the monthly subscription worthwhile! Why?

1. Chill Queen with broken heart (she’s not cold enough for Ice)
2. Kittens rescued from a dumpster bin
3. A lovely woman who might just thaw an ice queen ;-)
4. A reality TV backstory that is a whole lot of fun

You need more? Really? Well, there’s a lovely connection between two very different people who are both very loveable. Genuine hurdles to overcome with a sad back

I’m in a weird headspace right now. Idk if it has something to do with my mood, but I didn’t love this as much as most people did. Maybe I’m noticing the wrong things 🤷🏻‍♀️

First, I took longer than expected to consume this. I struggled with the entire first half of the book enough for me to debate DNF-ing it. But I wanted to know why a lot of people liked it, so I pushed myself to continue until I finished it. Nothing in the business arc stimulated me despite it occupying majority of the book. T
I wondered why the love scenes in this story felt off. Then I noticed that this author is a writer of mostly male/female romance and probably does not get the connection two women have together. She gets an 'A' for effort but only 3 stars from me for the story. I just didn't feel any love connection from the MCs.

From the blurb I was expecting a light fluffy romance with kittens involved. What I got deflated me a bit while still fluffing me up at the end. I just really wasn't expecting it!!!

Possible spoiler ahead _ This book does deal with spousal death and the death of an unborn child from the same tragic accident, so I was blubbering like whale at the heart wrenching discovery of that, which I was not anticipating.

However the beautiful tale told with heartbreak combined with the healing of new love an

I liked this book, a lot and I wasn't expecting it. I think I judged the book by it's cover and that cover didn't inspired me to read it, the reviews did.

So, lovely Josie runs a bar and a kitten rescue thing. Reallity tv star Eve finds kittens and after a youtube search finds Josie. THEEEN Josie helps Eve with the kittens and begs Eve to take her on her show. Eve says no and Eve producer decides to take Josie's bar anyway.

Received an ARC for an honest review.

This was a really enjoyable read. The chemistry between Eve and Josie was off the charts and the entire premise was just enjoyable. The two come together when Eve finds a litter of abandoned newborn kittens and a google search sends her to Josie. Before you know it, Eve is helping Josie renovate her bar, despite the fact that bars bring up the very worst kind of memories.

Lacey wrote real characters. They were fleshed out and I found myself feeling for them.

Really enjoyed this story. Through the writing you felt right there in the story. Rachel Lacey was able to capture all my emotions. Honestly this is not my typical read but it kept me engaged and routing for the characters and don't forget the kittens. Definitely a story I think you will enjoy. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review

I don't normally read f/f romance, but I do enjoy this author's work, so I thought I'd give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised by this book!

Love is worth the risk

Eve was so heartbroken and afraid to ever fell that kind of loss again that she closed her heart to love. Josie is full of love but no time to find the one to give it to. Kittens bring them together and the sparks fly. This story is full of emotion and passion. I will definitely be reading the next book.

This f/f romance grabbed me from the first paragraph and didn't let go until the very end. Eve Marlow comes across as an ice queen, showing no emotion at all especially in her professional persona. But once you find out the reason for that, it makes you connect with Eve all the more because if anything Eve feels too deeply. Then pair her up with Josie and you have all the ingredients needed for another great read from Rachel Lacey!

I never write reviews, but I had to this time. I read this on kinlde-unlimited.

Lately, every lesfic romance I start(and don't finish) is insanely cringey to me, so this was a breath of fresh air. The cover wasn't my favourite and I tend to stay away from series, but I'm so glad I took a chance with this book.

It was absolutely fantastic. The writing was wonderful, a perfect balance of dialogue and description. It gripped me from the first line. I sometimes dislike lesbian romance books written in

Don’t Cry for Me is the first book in a new series titled Midnight in Manhattan by Rachel Lacey. It is an opposites attract contemporary romance that features an ice queen tv host/marketing consultant and a bubbly, charming and free-spirited bar owner. It is a slow burn romance that will tug at your heart strings.

Josie is an adorably sweet character. I liked her immediately. She is kind, caring and compassionate. She is also trusting to a fault and wears her heart on her sleeve. I admired that a

I have followed Rachel Lacey from her first book and she still is on my favorite list. From her first foray into writing books starting with “Unleashed” to “Don’t Cry For Me”, she had an amazing span of genre that I totally loved reading.

First in her Midnight In Manhattan Series, Rachel introduces her readers to the petite, strong, professional Eve Marlow, who owns her own marketing company as well as a TV Show. A show that needs some uplift and a new lease of life. Who would have thought that f

Love when they least expect it! With the first book in her new lesbian romance series Midnight in Manhattan, Rachel Lacey takes us on a delectable journey of healing with DON'T CRY FOR ME. It was emotional and super satisfying!

Eve Marlow is the first to catch a reader's eye as she discovers a batch of abandoned kittens that she needs to find help for. This puts her in touch with Josie who turns out to be so much more than she ever expected. She has an emotional back story and a wall

This is the first romance novel I've read in a long time, but I'm so glad I got a chance to delve into the story of Eve and Josie. Rachel Lacey is a great f/f modern romance writer. The story is sweet, sad and hot! The characters are so real and beautifully drawn. After this, I'm anxious to read the rest of Rachel's stories!

Both of the main characters are fully realized from early on in the story. And I felt like their attraction to each other was immediate. But these two really developed a real

Rachel Lacey is a phenomenal author. She writes stories guaranteed to capture her readers hearts. Her characters are very realistic. She creates magical worlds.

I loved Don't Cry for Me. I will admit I was a bit uneasy about reading a f/f story. Rachel Lacey wrote it perfectly and in the end I was no longer uneasy. I found myself invested in their story and lives. It was a heartwarming story. I loved the way you get to see the real Eve after the layers were peeled back. I loved how both Eve and

I've got one word for this book, HOT. Josie and Eve's chemistry is off the charts. It shows that love is love no matter who the course is. Rachel Lacey shows the very real struggle of a business owner and a woman who loved deeply and lost it. And how a new love, even one that is forbidden, can heal. In my opinion this is Rachel's best book yet. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the adorable secondary characters in the book. That of the two and four legged type. I HIGHLY recommend this book. ...more

This book held me captivated and I FELT all the emotions in this book. That, my friends, is the sign of a good writer. While I don’t go looking for FF reads, if it’s written by Rachel, then I’m in! Her characters are realistic, the emotions real and the chemistry HOT! I liked the uniqueness in the way Eve and Josie meet. And that meeting set forth a new path for both of them. These women are total opposites but they worked! I couldn’t read this book fast enough and I can’t recommend it enough!

Amazing story! Full of emotions! Fully enjoyed! Very captivating!

“You’ve lost so much… too much. I’m so fucking sorry.”“Don’t cry for me,” Eve whispered against her neck. Josie swiped at her cheeks. “Someone should.”

Very highly recommend. Can not wait for next book.

Wonderful sweet love story

It takes a while after losing the love of your life. It does sneak up on you at a time you least expect it to. Don’t Cry for Me by Rachel Lacey was the first f/f romance I have read, and I have to say, I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed it!

Eve and Josie come together in a very unique and different way; they both need help from the other.

I loved this story line and love how Rachel shows every side of romance! 5 stars, cannot wait for book 2!

A delightful surprise!

What do rescued kittens and saving the ratings of a cable TV show have in common? This book connects those dots in a very sweet way. Gotta love the characters (the main ones) - feel their joy, feel their pain - well developed, authentic, believable. Well done!

What an amazing love story! A fun, unique, but wholly believable way for two people to meet. An interesting way to keep them in each others orbit for a while. Tragic backstory, and just enough spice to keep it hot. What more could a reader ask for?
