All of England thinks Major Phillip Camden a monster—a man who deliberately caused the deaths of his squadron. But he would have preferred to die that day with his men rather than be recruited to the Admiralty's codebreaking division. The threats he receives daily are no great surprise and, in his opinion, well deserved.

As nurse Arabelle Denler observes the so-dubbed "Blac

This book was a-ma-zing!! I adore Roseanna M. White's books and if you asked me to pick a fave, I'd go into an intense bookwormish sort of analysis paralysis. lol! But truly, this one would be right up there at the top. I. love. Phillip. Wounded heroes are always my favorite, but there's something extra enticing and intriguing about this fallen pilot called Black Heart. And Arabelle is a fantastic, strong, and sympathetic heroine. The plot moves at a great pace - fast enough to keep me turning p ...more

Author Roseanna White never disappoints, I'm not sure how she does it but each book seems to top her last one. This is the second book in her Codebreakers series and WOW!
The author's writing style just blows me away, I don't know how she pens such a marvelous spellbinding story each time but she does.
There are tie-in characters from the first book but if this is the first book your reading it's explained very well so you'll be able to get right into the book.

I just need a second to gush! Y'ALL THIS BOOK WAS AMAZEBALLS! So stinkin' good, and such a great way to start off the reading year!

Roseanna is a crazy talented author. I don't think she has written a book I haven't liked. She writes such unique and REAL characters, they're just so easy to fall in love with!
Not many authors can take the risks she does and pull them off.

This book was no different! I loved every one of the characters! They each played their part perfectly! The villains, the leads,
It’s intimidating to write a review for a book you love so well...I had super high expectations for this book and it blasted through them all in the best way possible. The layering of the story elements is masterful and reminds me of some of my favorite vintage writers. I don’t know how she does it, but the characters are rounded and polished and hop right off the page. The way Ara meets the Black Heart is just so interesting and sparks off a very unusual alliance between the two when Ara’s fian ...more

From the moment I met Philip Camden in Number of Love, I knew he was something special. He bursted bitterly on the scene with a fantastic hook of a past and basically threw cold water of Margot and Drake's burgeoning relationship and I loved it. Inspy fiction so RARELY gets a Philip Camden. In On Wings of Devotion, we see the more vulnerable side underneath the steely exterior of a man awaiting court martial and probably firing squad for the elimination of his entire squadron. He bides his time ...more

Yes, those read dates are correct for this book. I literally finished the audiobook, then started it over again and listened to it a second time right in a row. It's that good.

Roseanna M. White is one of my auto-buy authors. She's one of the top Christian historical fiction writers I know for writing such a great blend of slow but swoony romance, great historical details, enough action and adventure and danger to make the books fast-paced and interesting, characters that have a real depth and l

Dang. This series and these characters just keep getting better!

I loved Arabelle and could relate so much to her. And Phillip is her perfect match. I can't say I adored Phillip, as he isn't usually the kind of guy I like, but his character was nonetheless fabulous and I loved him, even if I didn't love him, ya know? ;)

White's writing style is as beautiful as ever. I instantly feel like I'm living in the time period with the authentic and historically accurate dialogue and descriptions. The hist

what a wonderful story and the hero? FANTASTIC! White does an amazing job of making this hero raw, real, and completely redeemable, and the heroine can handle him, perfectly. She was steady and, oh so good, but not a weakling at all. In fact, she gets the chance to give a deserving someone a shiner, and that made me love her all the more.
The storyline, complete with adventure and espionage, kept the pace moving forward and the romance sizzled between the two of them as their very unexpected fri

"Everyone always chose something - or someone - else.

Seemingly underestimated, unnoticed, and underappreciated, Arabelle's Denler's broken engagement gave one more indication that she was never going to measure up. After all, her nursing career could provide fulfillment; it could, it absolutely could . . . .until a pilot with a broken spirit lands on her doorstep and opens up an infinity of possibilities.

On Wings of Devotion is the second story in The Codebreakers series, and oh my word is it amazing! Confession here, I’m not much of a re-reader of novels, but after I reached the satisfying ‘The End’, I had the overwhelming urge to flip back to page one and devour the book all over again.

The interactions between the brooding, mad-at-the-world pilot, Phillip Camden, and the tenderhearted, Jesus-loving nurse, Arabelle Denler, were brilliant. Their witty banter made me chuckle while their heart-to-

Roseanna M. White has talent for writing characters that are so beautifully developed! Each and every character in this book has a distinctive personality. Phillip Camden is one of the best heroes I've ever read. First I love "bad boys" who know how to charm the ladies. Camden does that from the first chapter. Oh, the first chapter is adorable! Second, he has a heart of gold. I just about melted to the floor when he professed his love and when he brought Ara a gift (No spoilers here). The histor ...more

What a SPELLBINDING read! This book had more twists and turns than an Ozarks road and was enthralling read from start to finish. Ara was quite a likable character and don't even get me started on our tortured hero/villain Phillip Camden...which will he turn out to be?!?! Roseanna wove quite the tale of romance, mystery and intrigue. Be forewarned: once you start this book-putting it down will be nearly impossible. Can't wait for more of this series!

Two lovely leads in this second novel of The Codebreakers series. Major Phillip Camden is surly and disliked by his nation for causing the death of several pilots. Underneath all of that is a gentleman of high character with a delightful sense of humor. Arabelle Denler is a nurse that is incredibly wealthy and kind hearted.

The plot at the beginning of the novel was delightful. A purely enjoyable read throughout.

Fantastic! There were so many things that I absolutely loved about this book! First, the storyline immediately drew me in, held my attention, and kept me guessing until the very end. Roseanna White is such a talented writer and has a way of making history come alive within the pages.

Second, I loved the characters, especially Phillip and Arabella. Phillip Camden is one of my favorite all-time heroes. I loved how he was so protective of Arabella. Although they weren’t perfect and were broken in t
Great googly moogly…..THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!!! As much as I loved the first one, I think I may have loved this one slightly more. I could hardly stop reading I was so in love. The first two books in The Codebreakers series was just what I needed to start this year off.

Eeep! Squeal! Eeeepquealll!!! I have permanent creases on my face from all the nose-dive swooning onto my fainting couch. Phillip Camden is not a monster, y'all! Tortured soul? Yes. A bit sullen and brooding? Definitely. Running from God? You bet. But none of that makes him a monster and Ara knows that right from the start...and, of course, so did I. :-) Hence all the swooning. I loved this book! The characters, as usual for Roseanna White, are one-of-a-kind, robust, passionate people with flaws and strengths that make them utterly human. In this novel, the hero and heroine seem like polar opposites at first but they end up being the perfect match. Arabelle Denler has a strong moral compass and faith but isn't pretentious or judgmental. Phillip Camden, nicknamed Black Heart, is angry and riddled with guilt but tender toward those he wants to protect. The scene where he ...more

I'm so excited to have discovered a new author whose books I love! Roseanna M. White! She writes historical fiction which is one of my favorite genres. This particular series is set during WWII and it really is amazing. The whole story just came alive in my head. I could picture the characters, the places and all the things going on. This is White at her best!

Roseanna White's expert pen transports her readers to WWI England, her stellar research immersing us into a fictional world that is filled with espionage, danger and romance. In my humble opinion, Ms. White pens some of the most touching moments that will tug at your heart. And some of the most romantic moments that will have her readers swooning. The thread of God's love and grace is not forced but woven seamlessly throughout the story.

What can I say? It's Roseanna M. White, so of course it's good.

Now did I have qualms with it? Yes. It wasn't her best work, in my opinion, but it was good.

1) Philipppppp. Rip my heart out, why don't you? He's a bit iffy on the physical contact front (*cough* stopkissingplease *cough*) but otherwise I love him. He has so many layers to him and is such a kind soul at his core. I just really loved how White developed him.

A fantastic read! From the first intriguing lines to the promising last words, this story swept me up and rushed me directly into the halls and streets of WWII London. The characters were so well developed and consistent all the way through. I laughed at so many antics and cringed at others, loving how the author's descriptive style made me feel like I was there with them! Y’all, if you just read one book this year, let it be this one! Honestly, I don’t have enough good things to say about this book and Roseanna M. White’s writing in general. She is the most phenomenal author ever!

That being said, what was it that I enjoyed about this book? Everything! From the very first page, I was pulled right into the pot and I didn’t want to put this book down until finished. The plot wasn’t fast-paced like a suspense novel, bu

"You'll either be a villain or a hero, Phil. Try to pick the right one, will you?"

On Wings of Devotion is an incredible story of compassion and redemption! White has significantly raised the bar in Christian fiction with this one. Even with a tad slow start, it didn’t take long for Phillip and Arabelle to take purchase in my heart. Both so different and yet so in need of the other; their love story is one that I will long remember.

This book has a strong Christian theme expertly woven throughout

Once again, Roseanna M. White does not disappoint! On Wings of Devotion, her second Codebreakers novel, delves into the scandal and mystery surrounding Major Phillip Camden, also known as “Black Heart.” Yet, even the blackest of hearts does not lie outside the realm of redemption, and though first introduced in The Number of Love as quite surly and unlikable, his story proves quite endearing and likable after all.

The British public believes Phillip to be a scoundrel and monster. However, as he f

Epic! I know I must say this about Roseanna’s every release, but this is her best book yet. The heroine being tall and gangly and an heiress ... contrasts with the hero being a rogue blamed for a crime he didn't commit ... or did he? The banter is unbeatable, the plotline unguessable, and this book un-put-downable! ...more

I have been a fan of Roseanna M. White’s writing since discovering her earlier Culpepper Ring series and she never disappoints. Oh where to even begin with this absolutely amazing book?! Roseanna M. White has done it again and has delivered a stunningly beautiful story that has it all! I don’t know how in the world she does it but her writing always blows me a way and there are countless times that I find myself stopping to reread a sentence multiple times just to appreciate how brilliantly crafted each word is!
