Two best friends vie for the same role in a ballet recital in the humorous sequel to the popular All Tutus Should Be Pink, designed for oral reading by children verging on independent reading. Original.
Best Friends Wear Pink Tutus tells the story of two best friends auditioning for Nutcracker and becoming angry at each other for wanting the same part. They eventually realize friends are more important than roles, so they purposely mess up their auditions in order to save their friendship. Neither of the girls get the role, but they find that they enjoy their friendship and their pink tutus much more than they would having a lone role in a white dress. This book is very cute and has pretty, lightly colored illustrations. The book is a second grade level book, so I don't think I would teach it to children, but I can at least have it in my classroom and available for my students.
I remember when I was little going to ballet class and I would always have to match my sister and our best friend Delaney. Children love to dress up like their best friends and be involved in the same activities. This book is about two little girls who are best friends and do everything together. They end up getting into a little fight in the middle of the book, but then realize that their friendship is more important than ballet. This would be a good teaching book, that if you truly care about someone do not allow pointless drama break you two apart.
Two best friends wear their tutus everywhere. They are practicing to be in a Christmas ballet, "The Nutcracker", and both girls wish to be the star, Marie. "If I get to be Marie, then Emily will be sad, and that will make me sad. If Emily gets to be Marie, then I will be sad, and that will make Emily sad." So when they try out, the girls make sure they do something wrong neither will be selected for the lead. So they are both happy! This is a really cute story!
First sentence: I'm Amanda, and this is Emily. We're best friends, and we were pink tutus.
Premise/plot: Amanda and Emily are excited that their ballet class will be performing The Nutcracker. Both Amanda and Emily want to be Marie.Even though Marie doesn't wear a tutu for the show. But knowing that her best friend wants the part really badly makes life difficult for both girls. What should they do?
My thoughts: I liked this one. I did. I think it's a very good early reader. I like the story. As I've mentioned several times this year alone, I do love the Nutcracker!!! So this one works for me!
This is an adorable book about two best friends that want the lead in the ballet class's performance of the Nutcracker. At the tryout they both throw the auditions so that their friend can get the part. The part goes to an older girl in the class and they are happy because they get to be the first snowflakes to where pink tutus.
My daughter loves this book and it is great to read with both of my kids because my son's can read some of the words.
I would recommend this book to anyone with their own little ballerina.
This book would be a wonderful addition to any classroom library. It teaches that sometimes friendship can be a difficult thing. It also teaches sometimes other things aren't as important has having a best friend.
When best friends Amanda and Emily both want to be Marie in their upcoming production of the Nutcracker it causes dilemma for them. A good book about empathy, friendship, and finding the positive in a situation.
A wonderful book that teaches young ones that friendship can sometimes be difficult. This also teaches us that sometimes, other things aren't as important has having a friend.
I just read this book to my 4-year-old brother, who declared it "an ugly book" (he is a boy), but I thought it really cute! :) I used to read this books when I was little. :)
