With her large divorce settlement, Bernadine purchased the small town of Henry Adams, KS, on eBay. (Can you do that?) The town, started by freed slaves in the 19th century, was going downhill, but now it seems like a very pleasant place. (This is #10 in the Blessings series, and since I hadn't read 1-9, I was a bit confused by all the characters at first). There is to be a mayoral election in Henry Adams; Bernadine's nasty ex is backing a shady candidate, and there is a woman running, too, ...more

I received a copy of this novel courtesy of LibraryThing Early Reviewers (giveaway) and the publisher.

I am a big fan of Ms. Bev's historical romances, but had not yet had the occasion to try her contemporary work. Winning a copy of this novel was a big and very pleasant surprise, but I knew I'd be walking into a series at Book #10, so I did go back and read the synopses of the previous books so I wouldn't be going in *totally* blind. I needn't have worried - there is enough background here to

This a good bet since it's by a prolific and successful author. This has interesting characters and the right amount of drama/conflict, and a satisfying ending.

I really appreciate the copy for review!

Welcome back to Henry Adams, Kansas. It's time for an election now that Trent July, the current mayor, has decided to pass the reins on to someone else, anyone else as long as it's not former mayor Riley Curry. This small-town may not have much to offer in many people's eyes since it doesn't have any big-box stores or franchise restaurants, but it does offer a strong sense of history, family, and community. To that end, Barrett Payne, current VP of Security for the town has decided to run for ...more

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I had never read any other books by this author, so I was nine book behind in the series when I read this one. It did not matter at all. Jenkins gives plenty of "insider information" about the cast of characters to let readers know the relationships between characters, their misdeeds of the past, and any other information that could be obtained by following a gossipy woman around the small town in which she lives, ...more

What a quirky group of characters inhabiting this small town in Kansas. Bernadine, following her divorce and settlement from her husband, buys the town off of E-Bay. Since she owns the town, and most of everything in it, it can be run the way she wants it to be. Her ex-husband returns to the area, ready to scam the next bunch of unsuspecting victims. Bernadine has other ideas and has the resources to put a wrench in his plans. A mayoral election, which should have been cut and dried, turns into ...more

Beverly Jenkins is one of my favorite authors. I love the town of Henry Adams. Reading a new episode in the life of this town is like sipping rich chocolate. I savor every moment. This is the tenth entry in the Blessings series and every time, I hate to see the book end.
No spoilers. I will say that few strings were tied up and a few new seeds planted. I can't wait to read Book 11.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway - the first giveaway I ever won. Thank you Beverly Jenkins and Goodreads.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was fun. I wasn't familiar with some of the characters and relationships as well as this beautiful town, because I hadn't read the prior nine books, but it is good as a stand alone as well. Some things didn't make sense, like purchasing a town on eBay - sounds like something one could do with Craigslist, but it's still sketchy purely because of the legalities behind a town "ownership" as if it was a business. Political intrigue, bitter enemies, sketchy ...more

This was such a cozy read. Even though I didn’t read the description carefully enough to realize that this was part of a series (since it was my own fault, this did not affect my rating), I felt like I got to know all of the characters really well. This is a great pick if you’re going through a stressful time or a period of transition—it’s a warm hug of a book.

It's the first book I read in this series and won't surely be the last because it was such an entertaining and engrossing read.
I liked the small town feel, the great cast of characters and the well crafted plot.
    A good read, recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Interesting cast of characters, with a lot of drama. Satisfying finish. I won this from a Goodreads Giveaway. Now I'm going to have to read the whole series if I want to know all the stories wrapped up in this novel.

I so much wanted to like this book, but from the beginning I thought that it was a bit boring. The characters names, attitudes, and lives were not what I expected from the reviews and summary. Probably just me.
Thank you to Goodreads, William Morrow, and Harper Collins, for the uncorrected proof.

I truly enjoyed this book! Highly recommend this book .. What I refer to as a " nice clean read".

Bernadine probably thought she had seen the last of her ex. Regular Blessings readers probably thought so as well since we haven't seen him in a couple of books (at least that I remember).

I received On The Corner Of Hope And Main from Goodreads Giveaways. Great book. Believable characters. I didn't know this was #10 in a series. I have some catching up to do.
