Coastal Cousins is an intriguing novel with elements of suspense, romance, and family secrets set against the backdrop of the marina and coastal life. The story revolves around Marlin Denton, a fishing guide and outdoor writer, who hides the fact that he has a billionaire uncle from his friends in order to maintain his simple, uncomplicated life. However, when his uncle passes away before revealing a crucial family secret, Marlin becomes the target of someone willing to go to great lengths, even murder, to protect that secret. Kari Albury, who manages a large real estate project on Virginia's Eastern Shore, becomes involved in Marlin's life and the dangerous secret surrounding his family. As their relationship deepens, Kari's own life becomes in jeopardy as well. The two must rely on the support of their fellow live-aboard residents at Mallard Cove Marina as they race against time to uncover the truth and stay alive. With its coastal setting and a mix of romance, mystery, and suspense, Coastal Cousins is a compelling read. It is the second installment of the Coastal Adventure Series but can also be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Hi! Glad you took the time to read about me, though my Coastal Adventure Series is really much more interesting. But hey, click my "Follow" button and see what kind of trouble I get into. It beats reading the newspaper! (I try to stay out of those these days...)

I was born in Palm Beach County, Florida, and escaped in Y2K, 40 years and 1.1 million new neighbors later. I hate crowds, and by then the lines at the boat ramps on the weekends were hell... Anyway, in my early twenties I crewed on sportfishing boats. I started flying when I was old enough to see over the instrument panel and got my license at 16. I've logged time in over two dozen types of aircraft. I got my start as a real estate investor in my latter 20's. I've owned retail stores and was even a small-town mayor once. Why? I'm still asking myself that question now, several decades later.

When I moved to Virginia, I fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore (VA & MD), as well as the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and that's why my books are set in this area. I write books because it's fun. I create characters that I enjoy 'spending time with' because I write every day.

So far I really enjoy the characters in this series. I love that the business minded people are honest, work with their friends, and help lift up other intelligent people. The relationships seem authentic. For me, this series is so easy to pick up and get immersed in even when I read it in small bites. And then there is the people almost getting killed, the action, the worry, and again friends who know people with a security company. It sure does help knowing the right people. The moral of the story is to surround yourself with good people who believe in friendship and honesty. Look what happened to the guy who surrounded himself with people that cared about money more than friends and family.

Where I Grew Up

That area of Virginia that we call "the tidewater" including the bay side of the eastern shore is perhaps the most beautiful and bountiful area on earth. The only other comparison might be to the Outer Banks of NC. These books touched the salt water in my soul, and brought back many great memories of this area. It was great to go back to Mallard Cove and pick up where Coastal Conspiracy left off. I also liked the interesting new twist with Marlin "Shaker" Denton as the narrator. Lots of twists and turns in this book and I highly recommend it.

Love interest combined with a little attempted murder

I like Don Rich has taken mystery, intrigue combined with love interest and some behind the scenes high dollar family dispute turning it into, in my opinion, a book that is a page turner not to be put down until the end!

This is the continuing story of the characters who have been brought together by a purchase and master renovation of a Marina. It involves potential assassin, exploding boat, murder, billons of dollars in play due to surprise family identity.

Set at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, Don Rich provides a glimpse of Watermen and Charter Fishing in the area. Throw in some local humor, intrigue and competition and the story was one I finished quickly.

This series takes place primarily in a marina and out on the water. In other words, a fun atmosphere. The main characters are hard at work developing marina properties and seemingly making a lot of money. Somehow they still end up getting shot at and bombed. Book two focuses on charter boat owner Marlin, who has a secret about his family. His uncle has been keeping a secret of his own. Lots of fun and romance with big business and danger thrown in.

I really enjoyed this story about Marlin Denton and life as a waterman around Chesapeake Bay and surrounding waters. As he meets and gets involved with Kari Albury and more interaction with the owners and developers of Mallard Cove the story becomes more interesting, and conflict arises. Interesting characters, lots of action and plenty of descriptions of the area and boats in general. A definite read for anyone who enjoys being on the water!

Rich is 2 for two and this is shaping up to be a great series. This time Marlin is the centerpiece. His Uncle Jack is a multi-billionaire and he is dying. Jack Jr. has seen the will and is afraid a secret might get exposed and he would have to share $7 Billion with Marlin. Now that is a motive for murder.

Never a dull moment

Thank you wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book. Have to admit I loved it. So many twists and turns weaved into it made it hard to put down. Some areas I may have changed just a bit but you tied them all together great.
