The second installment and conclusion of the story of Alice and the zombie Charles Dodgson, A.K.A. Lewis Carroll; DeAnna Knippling's The Knight of Shattered Dreams was a little more psychedelic, a little darker, and every bit as intriguing as the first. Go back and meet Alice as a child in The Queen of Stilled Hearts to learn about her earliest experiences with the looking glass Underland and Mr. Dodgson. I asked to read a review copy of this book, and I greatly enjoyed the experience (it was my first time doing this sort of thing!). The story continues from The Queen of Stilled Hearts. Alice is older, the story is darker. After suffering two great losses in a row, Alice agrees to be told Mr. Dodgson's latest story as she rests. The whimsy of the tale makes up for the seriousness of the main plot, though I DO miss the childish interruptions from the first book! It can't be helped; the characters ...more
