Lily, her brother Paul, mother and baby brother were all in the apartment when security forces broke their way in, focusing immediately on Paul. But Lily knew it wasn’t her brother and to save his life, she yelled to them that it was her. The next months for Lily were horrendous, locked in a cell, interrogated daily, beaten and given no food or water. She wondered if she would survive in this Chinese hell…
Luke Frankland, junior intelligence officer and just home from the Iraq war, was stunned when he was ordered to London to join a team working on cyber espionage, hacking of a level not seen before, and although Luke didn’t have much in the way of computer skills, he would be the leader to wage this war. When a malware attack downed all the computers in his area, and other areas in London, they decided to call in the top guns from the US.
In the Best Interests by Tim Hind is a cyber thriller with menace rippling through the pages. There were a lot of characters and I had trouble keeping up with who was who, but the tension and pace was electric. The terrorist attacks involving suicide bombers in London were so realistic as to be frightening on the pages. Based on real life experiences, the author took me on a chilling journey which had me shuddering in places. Recommended to fans of the genre.
With thanks to Ian from Leschenault Press, WA for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

So so so interesting, just the right balance of real world and fiction to create a read where you’re unsure where fact starts and fiction ends!
