After nearly a three months hiatus, I came back to TQQ optimistic. Even though I didn’t remember details from vol.9, the premise itself managed to keep me hooked up. However, after this volume, TQQ lost me for good.
I guess this volume made me lost faith in TQQ because I just can’t stand any of these characters. They’re way too flat to carry a story like this. Nothing can’t convince that someone would compete for Fuutarou’s attention. He has no charisma or charm. The Quintuplets were nice to follow, at the beginning, but now they were reduced to unidimensional love interests.
I also would like to point out the terrible setting Negi Haruba made so far. It has been very hard too buy some of this mystery bits due to how uneven the quintuplets relevance are. So, when it comes to who will end up with Uesegi, it’s difficult to believe that the girls all have the same amount of chances.
Anyway, didn’t like this and I’m not enjoying TQQ anymore(for awhile if I’m being honest). Nonetheless, I’ll make it through because it’s only four volumes left to wrap it up. Gave 2/5 because I like the art style.
So, the school trip... We get a bit of forward momentum with plenty of confessions. I'm hopeful the girls will all stay made up, especially Ichika. She went just a taaddd too far, but she did try to make up for it. I agree with Nino- Their relationship is just as important as the chance to be woth Futaro. I'm thinking the bride is Yotsuba, Miku or Ichika. Yotsuba and Ichika because of the past and Miku because Futaro can tell if another sister is imitating her. I am enjoying this a good bit!
every volume gets more and more complicated 😭😭 pookie which one of yall were the mystery girl??? Bc it cant be all five 😭😭 you all lie and manipulate too much, but i will finish the series bc im stronger than that 💪💪
I've finally reached the point that I left off in the anime. Everything ahead is still a mystery to me.
This middle section of the series has felt different in some ways than the first portion. It remains a romantic mystery under the guise of romantic comedy, but some elements have shifted. The suspect that was most suspicious at the beginning has turned into one of the least likely culprits. That could, of course, be to shake us off the trail, which I would still consider to be a cheap move (particularly since certain events would seem out of character in that case). But it seems like we may end up with a proper twist ending.
More important than that, some of the themes briefly shifted partway through. Initially, the bulk of the series was about the sisters and their interactions with themselves and each other. Futaro was an important element but, arguably, secondary.
That changed a bit when the dad entered the picture. For several volumes, the story shifted to the standard high school tale of freedom. While I wasn't a fan of the execution in regards to that particular aspect, I can recognize the necessity of certain parts of the story being addressed. After all, when five high schoolers are living on their own, it does force the question: what sort of parents do they have?
That arc seems to have been resolved, and we're now back to the sisters dealing with each other. Previously, the story asked, "what happens when multiple people want the same thing, but in different ways and are coming from different perspectives?" Now the story instead asks, "what happens when multiple people have conflicting desires that can't overlap?"
The story, while still often lighthearted and comedic, has also taken a turn towards being more tense as these conflicting desires play out, often without regard for who gets hurt in the process.
I am hopeful that, despite everything, the mystery will conclude with a happy ending. Four more volumes to go, so let's see how this plays out.
Seeing Ichika get called out by not only her sisters but Futaro himself was soooo satisfying. Having said that, Ichika's reaction to said callouts only made her more unlikeable than ever. Rather than admit she did anything wrong, her instinct was to pull a "Who are you to judge me? Like you're any better." On a character who objectively IS better than her. Ridiculous. Can this woman get any worse?
Yes, she does eventually show a little remorse but by then it's too little too late. I don't believe her. And neither does Futaro which is what's important.
Miku takes up a lot of this volume and the results are mixed. I do like Miku, she's my second favorite sister, but the way everyone else treats her can be really frustrating. So many characters freely rag on her for being the quiet, shy one. Like it's something she has to apologize for. Why? Can everyone stop bullying the quiet girl for being quiet? It's not funny, cute, or helpful. It's mean.
The last-minute twist reveal isn't something I particularly care for since the mystery of which girl Futaro met as a child is something I never was invested in. However, the answer given is still fairly interesting even so.
I'm only giving this a 3/5 instead of a 2/5 because Ichika getting karma was so sweet and I am nothing if not vengeful.
Ah this series. It started off really wobbly but I gave it a couple volumes and it became something really fun. Now I tear through them as they get released.
I will say, the art is weirdly inconsistent - some pages it’s hard to follow what the heck is going on, then others are just amazing (there’s a two page spread shot in here that juxtaposes two perspectives at once and it was just the best).
The dialogue also goes a bit wonky at times too. Still, it has it where it counts and you can follow the plot easily enough. Poor Futaro. He’s also made great leaps from the jackass he came off as during the start of the series. Course of true love and all that, but mix in squabbling quintuplets and it goes completely haywire, though it finally pays off a long story arc in very satisfying fashion.
Oh, and then the ending pulls out a revelation that was just jaw dropping, (most mystery novels wouldn’t have pulled it off so well - an amazing long con of misdirection here) and I honestly didn’t see coming (but made so much sense in retrospect, argh) - big kudos for that one.
I enjoyed this volume! I really like the chapters where we see the individual attempts of the girls - especially because we get to see more into their heads and find out what they're thinking. The characters have a lot of depth to them, in my opinion, and I think they're genuinely realistic. They've all got flaws and, even if it takes a moment or a slap up the head from a fellow twin, they are aware of that fact. Love this series and am so close to finishing it!
CAWPILE: 7.79

Bittersweet, & too many secrets. This one's a tear-jerker.
So, they've all declared their love to him. They went all-out to get Miku & Futaro alone... and then... man... how sad yet exciting. So, it seems Futaro isn't as much of an airhead when it comes to love as he presents himself to be. What a rollercoaster ride! Four more volumes to go. Who will be the bride??? I can't wait to find out. Art, excellent. The girls are simply gorgeous. Dialogue, bittersweet at times, very emotional. Characters, believable, likeable, relatable, loveable, adorable.
Okay, now this is probably my FAVORITE volume of the series yet.
This volume showed the culmination of the Kyoto Field Trip and how at the start of this, each girl wanted/plotted to get Futaro by themselves, however; what should be noted about this is the ending of the trip and the ending of the volume itself.
I don't wanna sound like a broken record, but this series honestly continues to exceed my expectations and continuously makes me want for more. I CANNOT CANNOT wait for the next volume. :)
Oh, how the consequences of our actions come back to bite us in the ass. So sad, isn't it?
That pretty much sums up this entire volume, but make no mistake-this was a great volume for the drama alone. It's a shame drama is not a natural resource because the drama in this volume ALONE could power the world's energy for generations to come. And I loved every second of it.
Not gonna say more because I feel like anything past this can be considered a spoiler, but damn this was an entertaining and emotional volume. Love, love, loved it.
I really enjoyed this one. After being severely disappointed in the last volume, this one finally seemed to make some headway in moving the story forward. Not by leaps and bounds because there are volumes to come, but enough to make me happy. And that ending...
Verdict: Better than your average harem manga by far, if you haven't started QQ, you should!
The whole thing is somewhat ok, but full of cliches and too far beyond belief. There's some good character development towards the end, but for example the main character is pretty close to the same kind of idiot he was at the beginning.
Makes as ok thing to read while waiting for something.
Another really good volume. It was great to see sisters fight and then make soon after, just like real siblings do.
One concern that I want to say is that I’m starting to not understand Ichika’s character and her motivations. It seems like she’s contradicting herself a few times now.
So much drama amongst the girls and a surprising revelation at the end. I’m still confused on exactly who met Futaro 6 years ago since 2 different sisters spoke about it. I’m very curious to see what happens in the next volume though.
I finished watching season 2 of the anime and I just can't get enough of it. I just had to find out what happens next. Upon a quick Wikipedia lookup, this volume is latest one animated as of season 2 of the anime.
I just love it. Excited to find out what happens next!!!
This one had some very effective panels. We really see the quints relations strained and how they deal with the animosity. With four volumes to go I really hope this can be concluded in a satisfying way as this series has really become a strong read.
The twists!!! The turns!!! The messy drama!!! The heartwarming!!! Perfection. Also love me some Kyoto. And good on a certain someone for not being as oblivious.
I was in tears reading this volume ;( I couldn’t wait so I read the rest online. The next three volumes are too far away and now I won’t have to die waiting HAHAHAHA
