This is my first read from Nika Dixon and it was a stunner! Everything you would want from a story tucked neatly into a hypnotic plot and insanely well written characters. The story unfolds slowly as we get a glimpse into the life of Emma who is on the run, wearing no shoes and only the clothes on her back and how she ended up in the aptly named town, Absolution. When she meets this tiny towns well known pleasantly demented woman who can hot wire a car by the way, thinking she's getting a ride, ...more
Devil’s Way Out starts with a woman who has been held prisoner for years against her will that manages an escape to run half way across the country only to be bamboozled by an elderly lady who has a pension for stealing cars. And then it gets really interesting from there…

This is my first read by Nika Dixon but it won’t be my last. Dixon impressively juggles that fine line of dark and evil, fun and flirty and all that good stuff in between while creating a slow building, smoldering attraction –

Rancher, Marshall Boyer is still angry over the death of the woman he loved and wants nothing to do with woman or love, but when a mysterious woman drops into his life, barefoot, broke and running scared, he can’t let her go. Emmaline Katz is an artist with a dangerous secret and she’s on the run from a ruthless criminal who exploited her for years. Out of money and options, she finds an unlikely have with a handsome cowboy but time is running out and cold-blooded killer has to come town.

This was such an amazing, surprising read - absolutely enthralling and fascinating so I can't recommend it highly enough. It is brilliant, with elements of kidnapping, mobsters, small town families, art and even paranormal ingredients so carefully mixed to produce this delicious recipe for a totally unputdownable read.

The characters are well developed, there are some fun parts to bring a smile to your face but there's also plenty of intrigue and suspense to keep you guessing. The romance is slow

Devil’s Way Out by Nika Dixon

I loved, loved, LOVED this book. It had so much to offer! There was a woman on the run, her mysterious past, her drawing skill, men and animals that seemed taken with her, an evil man chasing her and another man that might be her safe place to land.

I loved Emmaline, the woman on the run...everything about her resonated with me. I was so hoping she would find a happy ending after so much time in a horrible situation. She was a very special person. I loved the animals

I liked the plot, but I felt like way too much time was spent on how scared and anxious the h was. It dragged for a while there. I really enjoyed the paranormal slant and the ending.

I received a copy of “Devil’s Way Out” by Nika Dixon from my friends at Net Galley. I haven’t read anything by Dixon in the past but I have received copies of other ARCs from Entangled Publishing.

I really enjoyed this read and I’ll start with some of the basics that everyone looks for in a read. Grammatically, I did not see any errors and if there were editing issues I was not able to locate them. Often times, if a book has a multitude of spelling mistakes it can take away from the narrative, b

A-mazing! Simply amazing! Such a masterpiece of a story!

Emmaline Katz has the gift of foresight. She can draw things that will happen in the future. Her talent was discovered when she was still a kid by an evil man, who "adopted" her and kept her locked in a cage to use her skills only for him. But now she has escaped - and she will do anything in her power to stay free. On her journey she meets Marshall Boyer, who takes her in and helps her not only see what life is really about, but also who s

I'm a first time reader of Nika Dixon. And I'm so please to say I was pleasantly surprised. This book was tempered completely different from most contemporary romance books, Where most books are an immediate jump in the fire, 'Devil's Way Out' is like a smoldering embers kind of book. You really have to settle into this book. Don't expect flashbang military action or wild drama. It's a cowboy kind of book anyways :) Expect some horses, small town banter and a slower-pace. Settle into this book l ...more

DEVIL’S WAY OUT will draw you in quite easily to a well-layered story with some totally unexpected twists along the way. While this is definitely a Modern Western Romance with Romantic Suspense aspects to it – there is also just enough of a touch of the Paranormal Romance genre to grab my attention quite firmly.

This is also an emotional story on several levels as you get Emma’s backstory, slowly over time, and come to understand the horrors she’s been through to get

Although the summary was intriguing, I had no idea what to expect from this book or this author. I am so glad that I was chosen to receive this book…it is GREAT! The characters, the story, the danger, the romance – this book has it all! When artist Emmaline Katz is able to escape from the restrictive-life she has led for the past fifteen years, she ends up in rural Montana. She has no place to go, although she is heading west with no money and no friends. Rancher Marshall Boyer distrusts Emma at ...more

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Published via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This author is new to me and I just have to say that I so thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was just so much going on that I couldn't put it down. The last 15 years for Emmaline (Emma) had been so difficult. She escaped her life in the city and along the way ended up in Absolution. Marshall rescues her from a ditch. Marshall has returned to the family ranch after being away for

Fabulous characters, a few laughs, a sweet and sexy romance, danger and suspense. Right from the opening scene you know this is going to be an intriguing story with a lovely young woman and her handsome cowboy rescuer. Emma is running from a troubled past and deadly criminals when she lands in small town Montana with wonderful residents and country values that demand coming to her rescue. The town’s folks are terrific along with the fantastic Boyer family. The slow build romance between Emma and ...more

A fun and unique romantic suspense that I could not put down! This town has a fantastic name and one heck of a colorful group of townsfolk. I can’t figure out who is my favorite outside of the main characters...a doctor who looks like Santa, the individuals at the diner, or the deputies. All of them are extremely well developed and engaging. The Boyer family is perfection in that they are the picture perfect family but also realistic because they gripe and pick with each other.

The writing is vi

We have Emma and Marshall, he’s a rancher just barely living his life in his ranch with his family; and she’s a lost girl he and his brother find after a car accident.

To say she’s intriguing is putting it lightly, guys. She’s kind and lovely and overall a mysterious woman. I loved Emma like whoa, and the paranormal aspect of this was great. Obviously I can’t tell, but it weaves perfectly with the mystery of her and bad guys and all the action that happens here.

I loved this, and it was more t

I received an e-arc of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, and definitely recommend it. I can't wait to see if the author branches out with more books that include these characters.
I found the writing to be emotionally stirring and extremely engaging. Marshall and Emma's chemistry was clear from the beginning and I rooted for them the whole way. I liked the slight supernatural aspect of this book and it didn't take away from the budding romance and stor

Devil’s Way Out by Nika Dixon a five-star read that you won’t want to get out from. This was sublime, I wasn’t sure what to expect as I don’t always like a cowboy romance but had heard good things about this one so thought why not. Do you know what it was so much more, it surprised me with the depth and drama and just the mystery of the story. I don’t know what to write as I really don’t want to give the game away, there is so much going on in this story and what an amazing town Absolution is, I ...more

While Devil's Way Out may have been my first read by Nika Dixon, it will definitely not be my last. This is a story packed with creative writing and fabulous world building that draws the reader in from the very beginning. And while the chemistry between Marshall and Emma is undeniable; there is also an intense emotional aspect to this intriguing and totally addictive read. I truly hope this is only the first book about the residents of Absolution, MT, as the author has paved the way for so many ...more

Loved this book!!! This is a quickly moving romantic suspense that I found myself completely engrossed in and turning pages just as quickly as possible. The author has crafted a tightly woven romantic suspense that fans of the genre will love. However, more than that, she has taken a familiar trope and twisted it into something unique and thoroughly entertaining.

The characters were likeable and with enough depth to make them interesting. I found myself hoping for them to get their HEA ending. Th

Devil's Way Out was a great read. That really drew me in, thanks to extremely likable characters and a storyline that was different and interesting. Not to mention, engaging, suspenseful, intriguing and enjoyable to read. And even though it was hard to get into due to the fact it's quite slow to start and it does take a while for the story to build, I loved it and I'm so glad I stuck with it. As it really surprised me, and I would certainly recommend it to others.

Wow! It starts out slow and funny: thought it would be a cute story. Boy was I in for a big surprise!

Once the story gets ramped up and you've been introduced to all the Boyers and the rest of Danny's staff at the Sheriff's office, you're in for a wild ride. It's non-stop thrills and excitement until the last page.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher for my honest review.

This is my first book by Nika Dixon and I am very impressed with her writing style. This story has wonderful characters with a heroine with a unique gift who is on the run, a rancher who wants nothing to do with women, his family. Danger, suspense, and a slow burn romance combine to make this a real page-turner. I would love to read more from this author.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The Devils way back is the story of Marshal and Emmaline. All in this book was good. Emma has been found by the Boyer boys as she and an older lady stole a car and crashed it. It’s nothing but an adventure from running from a killer, awesome pictures, crazy pets, and insane attraction.

Just simply good to read.

You get into the story from the start and it's never boring!

With a beautiful cover too! That's what caught my eye first.

A wonderful story. Marshall rescues Emma from a wreck and she ends up rescuing his heart. A small town story filled with intrigue and danger. Emma’s character is complex and fascinating. The author designed the plot twists to heighten the uniqueness of her talents. She is truly pure and good which makes her a great addition to the small to setting and the Boyer family. The animals are a great addition to the story as well.
