When Gus the cat finds out his beloved owner has had something very sacred of his go missing, Gus smells foul play and is ready to investigate. What Gus isn’t quite prepared for is just how difficult and downright dangerous it will be to get it back…
Courageous cats, revolting rats and gullible guinea pigs feature in this fun, thrilling and ridiculous children's book for readers from ages 7-11. Complete with footnotes defining tricky words, here is a book which all readers will enjoy and learn from without even knowing it.
I’m a reader, a writer and a teacher. I’ve always loved reading, held a passion for writing and think that being a teacher to young people is about the best thing you can do on the planet.
I moved up to Yorkshire last summer with my lovely wife, and decided it was finally time to give the writing thing a real go – the result: my debut book, Raid of the Ratskull Rodents.
Having taught in KS2 classes for the last five years, first in Essex, then in North London and now in Yorkshire. I felt that my passion for writing and knowledge of young readers would allow me to write in a way in which I knew my students would enjoy and be inspired by.
I’m already working on other ideas to follow my first book, and when I’m not doing that, you’ll most likely find me hiking through the Yorkshire Dales, or cuddled up with my wife on the sofa with a good book.
This is an amazing book filled with action! I laughed so much and enjoyed it throughout. The characters are well constructed, it’s a beautiful story that not only children but adults like myself can enjoy. I loved how it kept the suspense at all times. I can’t wait for the next book on these series!
I also enjoyed the illustrations, drawn by hand, they made you feel like someone had done them exclusively for you.
The storyline is entertaining, the characters engaging. A book most 8-10 year olds would enjoy reading. An excellent first novel. I look forward to the sequel.
I really enjoyed this book. Even if it's targeted to 7-11 years old, it was full of adventures and suspance that any adult can enjoy. I especially liked the footnotes because I learnt a few words and expressions myself! You really never stop learning! Highly recommended.
