The old saying is true. Knowledge really is power, especially when angels and gods play the game.
The original Immortals, masters of magic, once reigned over every world in the known universe—until they suddenly vanished. The gods and demons have been fighting over the remains of their fractured empire ever since.
Millennia later, new angel Leda, a soldier in the gods’ army, is recuperating from her transformation. Her recovery is cut short, however, when a curse strikes New York City, a spell targeted directly at the Legion of Angels. Even as the Legion’s soldiers succumb to wrath, jealousy, and fear, the beasts on the plains of monsters are growing in numbers and power. And the longer Leda and her archangel lover Nero investigate these phenomena, the closer they come to the ancient secret that destroyed the Immortals—and that now threatens to tear the Earth apart.
Ella Summers has been writing stories for as long as she could read; she's been coming up with tall tales even longer than that. One of her early year masterpieces was a story about a pigtailed princess and her dragon sidekick. Nowadays, she still writes fantasy. She likes books with layered plots, lots of action and adventure, and a touch of romance. When she is not busy writing or spending time with her two young children, she makes the world safe by fighting robots.
Originally from the U.S., Ella currently resides in Switzerland. She is the author of Sorcery and Science, a fantasy adventure series set in a world splintered by magic and technology.
I can't believe there are no more books out there! And the author gives us no details about the release date (3 more weeks for 2019 to end, when will we get this book?!).
With this sort of ending, this series could get much more than 1 final book (or maybe a related series?). I'm sad to see it end on such a big cliffhanger, it's definitely not fair.
Anyway, I hope this next book will be out soon. I can't wait to see what happens.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Wow, the best book in this series for sure! So much has happened and I'm obviously not going to spoil anything but let me just say that this story is so worth reading the previous seven books. This is like the after party with tons of famous / important people and amazing drinks. It just can't get any better than this. OK, maybe it can but not by much, that's for sure. Leda, Nero and all of their friends and loved ones, except for her brother and biological mother were a part of this story. If that doesn't convince you to read the book, then I don't know what will. It's just epic and awesome. I absolutely loved reading every minute of it.
Yes I can' believe I'm giving this 4 stars either, but you know what? It felt rushed. I couldn't savour these moments that have been building for 7 whole books because it kept skipping from problem to problem from one page to the next. Instead of leveling up, Gods and Guardians have made things complicated and shifted the focus of the book.
I think my enjoyment peaked at book 7 and now it was a little downhill.
On the plus side we were introduced to the most genius character and naturally it was the most awesomest of creatures...a kitten. I'm in love. And as always Nero was swoon even when he wasn't doing anything.
There was a lot to enjoy but it came and went far too fast.
Ok, I hope in the next book I will find out when this series is going to end. Don’t get me wrong, I like this series very much, but it got too long now with few scenes were recycling from previous books and the story seems on and on and going nowhere..
I read long series with the same characters all the time, gosh! Eve Dallas and Roarke’s story more than 50 books and I read them all! However they’re all a stand alone book, and you don’t feel annoyed waiting for the next one.
Even the fantastic Kate Daniels and Curran’s story had an end, sigh.
Oh well, I will read the next one, if still haven’t a clue when this series will end, I will stop reading until all the books published.
Actually, you can finished after this book too, read it to find out what I mean:)
I can't pinpoint why this book doesn't get more than 3.5 stars from me. Leda and Nero's relationship was as strong and steady as ever (which I really, really appreciate btw). Leda was still her snarky self and Nero still the arrogant and sexy hero. Their flirting was on a whole nother level and I loved that (seriously, I was squealing my lungs out haha), especially because only Leda can bring out Nero's playful side *swoon*. The kitten was an awesome addition to the cast. Really badass lol
Even though there were so many things that I liked, I somehow caught myself drifting off way too often, playing Candy Crush or scrolling through social media. I think the events in this installment just weren't as engaging and exciting as in the previous books. I was 100% there for the couple but only 20% for the story. Bummer...
***
Side note: long series are so difficult to review. I find myself less and less interested, the more books come out. Charley Davidson for example, Kate Daniels, Crossbreed series, Bloodline series ... All on hold right now and I can't bring myself to continue them. Is/was it the wait? The plot? Me? Probably me... which is a shame because all of them are really, really good.
Well, the trend continues: this book was the best so far in the series. So much changes in this one, and I really can’t talk much about anything or I’ll spoil them all. Needless to say, Leda and Nero have to fight a villain bent on taking over, and who also wants to get rid of Leda. Poor Leda, though, is having a rough time because of the events of the last book, and they are doozies! LOL! If you are a fan, you will definitely love this one. If you haven’t read the series, what the heck are you waiting for?!? It’s a must-read! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
It is getting harder and harder to talk about the book without spoilers, so here goes my best attempt.
The book picks right up where it left off. Those who doubted Nero, shouldn't have. He is who we thought he was. That said, what he DOES have to say has very big implications that give you a hint to the rest of the book. Nero and Leda are devoted to each other and will always act accordingly
In this book we get to see Leda back with her friends after being separated last book and their interactions and jokes are as wonderful as ever. Nero gives Leda a gift for when he is away from her that adds solid humor to the story. I also suspect it isn't exactly what we think it is. These interactions are some of the things that make the book stand out for me from others.
In this book Ella explores what it means for Leda to be an angel with her unique heritage because as we have seen through out the books, Leda is not like anyone else and that has lots of implications and challenges. There is also an issue as the number of angels at any one time is capped because they have territorial instincts and only one territory was open and there are two newly made angels. We also get Leda's angel name.
Now for the plot, I like how Ella plays on our expectations. The dangers seem to be two fold, the strange emotional outbreaks among the Legion solders and the beasts/monsters are acting up. The cause for each were very interesting with huge implications and changes in our character's lives both large and small ways. It also gives more history of the world and the current factions and what some of the power players are up to. I enjoyed watching Leda really grow and come into herself. Her growth over the course of novels has been great and I love the choices she has made about who she wants to be and what she wants to represent. I also loved getting to see more of Nyx and other more powerful characters as Leda approaches their power level. No one is immune to Leda's brand of chaos and influence.
As for the end, wow. I'm not sure I'd call it a cliffhanger, but Leda's next mission (and therefore the likely plot of the next book) was assigned to her and WOW. I cannot wait to see how that goes.
I enjoyed this series so much that I have read nothing else for the past couple of days. There were obviously some spell woven into this book, that's how good it was. There were things I did not enjoy, it is eight books long after all but the plot more than made up for it.
Ughh! This series was going so great, and then this book suddenly all became about Leda's pregnancy! Angel's children have always been shown to be very important, but this book takes it too far. I don't hate the world building; I hate how Leda and Nero handles the situation!
First, if Nero was serious about her, he should have had himself tested ages ago if he was compatible with Leda. Any warm feelings I had for him takes a nose-dive when he marries her because she is going to be fertile!! And they never even have a serious talk about marriage or children.
Secondly, why the hell are Leda and Nero taking the entire stupid rules of procreation at face value and not fighting them?! Being what she is, Leda might be the only angel that has a recourse of fighting the system and standing up for the abhorrent practice of breeding in such cold, calculated her. She has the advantage of blackmailing/threatening Nyx, since even the gods want her alive! So why does she just take it whatever Nyx dishes! Later, she might say that she would have left if it didn't go her way, but why go through the entire song and dance in the first place?
Thirdly, my opinion/feelings for Nyx tanks at her behavior in this book. The author tries to make Nyx likeable and dynamic (with her own book), but her actions in the beginning are terrible. While her backstory and her character do make sense, I find what she allowed to happen unacceptable. The practice of such kind of breeding almost borders rape and is way into non-consensual/coerced sex. She basically guilt-trips Leda into having a child with a man of her choosing with excuses like it is to save Earth.
Fourthly, I would have liked Leda to immediately realize that though she signed up her life for Legion, but by no means did she sign up her child's. With her and Nero's unique parentage, the child would be a weapon/tool of epic proportions for all the big hitters in the world that Summers has created. It was only near the end that she shows apprehension of having a child in these circumstances.
And last, I didn't care for the cumulative effect of this - the contraceptives being a secret. And such a huge secret that Narissa is afraid of being killed if it got out. This is just chapters after the big speech of sharing and trust. I don't know which is worse - that Leda feels she has to take contraceptives in secret (even from Nero) or that she takes them in secret despite trusting others. This is just setting up a stage for major blow up in the next book in the series!
Also, if Leda is becoming a deity, isn't having children with mortals (including Angels) against the unwritten laws? Isn't that the entire reason that Stash is being punished?
Plus, not having sex before the angel peaks didn't make any sense. What happens to the angels that take months and years to peak? I guess, that bit was for comic relief...
The series is becoming worse than soap-opera. I liked it before when it more action and less drama. The book still has humorous moments, excellent world building and enjoyable characters. And the author does end the book on high note, the confessions and truths softening the entire situation leading up to the wedding. But I was still mad and annoyed the first half of the book. Overall, it could have been handled much better.

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book series to me. This was an incredible read, and quite possibly my favourite book of the series thus far. Leda and Nero are my favourite characters still, and as each book shows another layer to their characters, my love for them grow. In this instalment, Leda Pandora, aka the Angel of Chaos and Nero Windstriker fighting side by side against the evils in the world. We see some strange occurrences in the Legion office and Leda as an Angel for the time. Also, we find out more about Nero and Leda and how their relationship was formed. However, my favourite part of the book was the last 25% of it. The action, the love, and everything in between was brought to life in those final chapters. I can’t wait to find out what happens in Ghost’s Whisper. I think I need to also read Cadence and Damiel’s love story. I think it will be interesting to see how everything unfolded for them. Overall, an amazing read.
Apart from the tacky dress & glitter 💣 decor the story was amazing. Even the wedding served to move the overall arc forward. That ending was 🤯. 5 stars
I head a lot of good thing about this book. The series was recommended to me many times (#cakeeaters thank you). I never picked it up, because I was scared that I won't like a well loved series. But I finally did, because I put it in a clear your tbr challenge and it was called.
I started the first book Vampire's legion last sunday, when the number was drawn and I only stoped once to finish another challenge but otherwise I read the whole series in only seven days! I really binged it.
I loved Leda and her lovely chaotic ways. She really got things done, even if the Angels thought that her ways were inappropriate. But she always thought out of the box and her actions lead to results. Nero is a good counterpart. He gives her stability, rules and has her back. But he also knows how to bend the rules properly. Which leads to creative rule bending Leda styled.
The series was so much fun. I rarely read a series that long, where I wanted to have the next book like yesterday. The audiobooks are good too. I like the narrator. Most of the time I read and listened to the series changing from ebook to audiobook and back.
Five stars recommendation!
Heads up: I'll just copy this review into all the other books of the series. Also most of the audiobooks (one to eight) were free on audible at the end of 2023. For the first four book there is one audiobook available, but it's not free on audible.
There's a lot that I love about this series, though I'll say that I'm ready for Leda to tell the gods to go fuck themselves - Faris is particularly tiresome. He just doesn't have the power over her that he thinks he does, and I don't get why Leda doesn't get the last bit of juice she needs to embrace her power fully, and tell them to eat a bag of dicks.
The same is true of the Legion and their rules, honestly. The forced mating ... it worked out fine in this book for Leda, but the whole practice is gross and I don't like that she was going to be bullied into it if it didn't work in her favor. The Legion's rules, the gods (with just a couple exceptions), they all need to fuck right off already.
But she's an awesome character, as is Nero, and their relationship is just so beautifully done. No bullshit drama to create conflict, and I love that. This series also has a fantastic secondary cast, and an overall plot (with the Guardians) that I've really enjoyed as it unfolded.
I'm so bummed that I'm almost caught up to current. One book left and then I have to wait with everyone else. :(
The old saying is true... Knowledge really is power, especially when angels and gods play the game...
Holy hell! I finished read this book after midnight and I am stunned! I am still reeling from all that happened in this book! Whoa. Wow. Utterly speechless and fascinated and addicted and so freaking happy because I always wondered when this particular event would happen and IT DID!!!
I just cannot say enough good things about this book and series. I definitely recommend this series and I cannot recommend it enough!
The characters' growth is amazing - love watching it and experiencing it. The writing is phenomenal.
Full of gods, powers, action, adventure, angels, secrecy, demigods, surprises, truths, danger, manipulation, trust and love.
Perfect for readers of paranormal romance/urban fantasy.
Another great installment, I really do love this series, just a few minor things that stopped me from giving it 5* Leda was a bit preachy in this giving one too many grand speeches to God's and archangels - then she turned around and did the exact opposite. She outed herself like it was no big deal when it was supposed to be a big deal no one found out. We have the entrance of a new/old character that was totally glossed over. We do however get some info on the Guardians and I'm excited for the next book
How did I miss this????? I'm so freakin excited....I love this series
I am still loving this series, and each book unravels a little... but its all baby steps.... Its starting to feel a little dragged out in places (Although the ending opens a whole new scope) just this book dragged a bit, still a huge 4 star though....
Some amazing parts huge spoiler so i wont say, just wish i could have had more Nero time....
Leda still survives on the lowest form of wit, but i love it!
me four years ago: is this series a guild hunter rip off? you four years ago: no no, way different me looking at this cover: 👀 me looking at you: 👀 me looking at this cover: 👀 me looking at you: 👀
I am enjoying this series, and since it’s finished, I can binge the entire thing in a week. This one didn’t quite live up to the previous installments, but it added well to the meta plot.
There are only a handful of series with couples I adore: Kate and Curran, Cassie and Pritkin, Chess and Terrible and Mac and Barons. But the newest addition to my list are Nero and Leda. I love them so much that I don't even care too much about the overarching plot, I just want page time with them. They are amazing together and this just continues in this newest installment.
This book moves at break neck speed with some pretty huge game changing revelations along the way. In fact, I do almost wish the pace had been a little slower.
There is a pretty huge development between Nero and Leda, and whilst this was awesome, I would have liked more being made of the moment itself.
However, this book had all of the brilliant qualities of the previous installment: amazing couple, great secondary characters, great world building and lots of humour!
The set up for the next book should be pretty interesting!
Thank you Ella Summers, along with many others this series captured my heart and I laughed (actually out loud not just snorting quietly) and I felt tension and excitement for the characters. I loved the world/s she created. I am excited for the next book.
I Really Enjoyed This Book.⭐️😍 Angel's Flight: (Legion of Angels, Book 8) By: Ella Summers 🎧 Audiobook Narrated by: Cris Dukehart Length: 9 hrs and 32 mins (Read Using Kindle Unlimited)
A wonderful audiobook to compliment the books!🎧👏
Leda, Nero, and their friends and families, all face threats from many different places in this book! One of them is very close to home and is inescapable!😳
As Leda wasn't 'chosen' by the God's to become an Angel but had it thrust upon her, by Athan, at the Crystal Falls Trial that Faris convinced the God's to usurp. She hasn't been given an official Angel name yet - everyone has taken to calling her Pandora 😃🙈 Her Angel wings change colour, like her hair, she really is unique!!👍🌈
We learn more about the Guardian's who have her brother, Zane, & Nero's Mum too!😞 Are they going to be Earth's & The Universe's saviour's?🙏 Or their complete downfall??💀 Many truths are discovered or revealed throughout this story, some we knew but others are complete shockers!😱
The Legion of Angels series has been building and building. Every one has been more exciting for me as the challenges and tribulations for Leda and Nero continue to materialize. So much happens in each book it is hard to review without spoilers.
Leda must adjust to her new status and the Legion does not give her much time to do that. It's a whirlwind for her. There is definitely a mystery that needs to be solved, but the answer to that mystery is not what you expect. I guess that is why it's a mystery, right?
I loved the pace of the action as well as all the twists and turns. Nothing is easy for Leda and Nero, but obstacles sometimes come with rewards. But, we also have to look and see if those rewards are actually rewards and not more obstacles. This is always in the back of my mind while I listen to this. Something always happens to turn things into chaos for Leda.
Once again, I'm so glad I waited for the audio. The narration by Cris Dukehart was as great as I always find her. My issue is that book 9 has yet to be made into audio. So, I sit and wait again. I am confident it will be worth the wait!
Leda finally has her wings, now she just has to figure out how to use it. But learning to fly is the least of her worries, as things begin to go haywire at the Legion. Is this a new attack from the demons or will the source have even more dire consequences for Leda? Luckily, the source of the Legion’s troubles soon becomes apparent and Nyx is around to help keep the problem contained.
The previous book left us with questions about Nero but they are soon answered in this book and his relationship with Leda becomes stronger than ever. Leda really embraces her angel side in this latest book and it’s great to see how her character grows and develops after her change in circumstances.
The latest book in the Legion of Angels series was a wild ride that will give you some answers that you probably anticipated and also a lot that you won’t have. Prepare to be glued to the pages.
This book will leave you completely satisfied but also aching for more.
This is the first time in a while you've actually continued with a series. #proudofyou
But, now I'm getting bored. The series is still good but it feels a bit inception-y?
So, now she's an angel (not technically a spoiler since the cover...duh) who's a child to gods and demons, who are linked to the guardians, who were designed by the immortals. Ffs when does it end? Now I might be pulling at strings here but who's behind the immortals? Leonardo Dicaprio?
Please stop. I don't want this series to be ruined but while the "meat" of each book might be getting drier, the ending seems to sucker me in to one more book. Le sigh.
Sincerely,
Mile's dream subconsciousness begging for someone to wake her up
Wow Wow Wow....I can’t say enough great things about this book. Angel’s Flight picks up were Fairy’s Touch left off. Since Fairy’s Touch left was with a major question to be answered it was nice that Angel’s Flight picked up there and didn’t leave us hanging for too long.
We get to see Leda interact with her friends again which was nice since they were missing from the last book. We also lean Leda’s angel name, which is so her lol.
I loved that we learned a lot about Nero’s origins as well. It answered a lot of questions we have had since the beginning. Nero and Leda’s characters have developed so much and they are so strong together.
While the book ends on a small cliffhanger I’m glad it wasn’t like the last book lol.
The fact that Faris at the end became the King of the Gods does not bode well for our Leda.
Nyx dream will probably come true since now Leda will have to go to the Demons to form an Alliance for the Gods. The Demons already know who she is, we know that from the prior book, still I'm hyped to see what will happen in the next book.
Finally Cadence is back so Damiel is sooooo happy and Leda has a new family member that can help her a lot since she has dual magic. Same goes for Nero.
Would Nero go with her to the Demons? Let's wait and see!
