This is a fantasy on some imaginative land. My kindle version started with a map. Hint: detailed maps on a kindle with lots of small writing don't work. You would be much better to have a number of maps of smaller areas that work with a given chapter so you can give more page size to the specific area. Anyway, we have the usual suspects: elves, dwarfs, humans, orcs, giants, dragons and a few extra. The story mainly follows Faolan, and nobody is sure what he is, but he has been raised by two elve ...more

Dragons, elves, dwarfs, angels, giants and many more mythical creatures inhabit the world of Verdunmull. There are prophecies, curses, romance and so many other tropes.

Story centered around the prophecies made by this mages/creatures written centuries ago. 3 Angel's fall from grace one betrayed and deceived by his 2 brothers, the other two punished for their sin. One by one we are introduced to the players or the people on whom the prophecies are about.
Faolan is a scout who has lost memories a

Angels, Demons and Prophecy

Verdunmull: Book 1: The Ikalreev Prophecies by Jared Zakarian is a fantasy with a different cadre of mythical beings. Some of those beings include dragons, orcs, elves, humans, angels, etc.

A battle in the heavens has occurred between three angels. Two of the angels, Zauvek and Waremasu, have managed to overcome the other, and subsequently cast the third angel, the righteous one, Razbijen, to the land of Verdunmull.

Subsequently, the overcome angel, Razbijen, has become

This is a fairly long book, at 446 pages. The language is stilted and the action can get a little slow at times. Despite all of that, I found myself drawn into the story and caring for the characters. Many of the characters have secrets that even they don't know. We know that Faolan, the main protagonist, is more than he seems. We get glimpses of that as those around him occasionally have visions of him in another form. Other characters also have secrets and untapped power within them that they ...more

An exciting story full of adventure and fantasy.

This is the first book of the Ikalreev Prophecies series, I believe there is only two books to the series. After reading this one I am excited to see what happens in book two! This is a fast paced adventure fantasy, mixed with a little magic. It has a little bit of everything, humans, elves, dragons, monsters, dwarves, giants, sorcerers etc. I will be honest I wasn’t expecting such an eclectic story! You are pretty much guaranteed not to get bored

Verdunmull is described as a fantasy book and I could not agree more. This was my first novel from Jared Zakarian but it certainly will not be my last one, especially considering that there are two other books of this series sitting on my e-bookshelf waiting to be devoured.

I've read this book extremely fast. I picked it up so I could read the first chapter and when I realized I was already halfway through. I was immediately caught up in the book within the first several pages.

Jared Zakarian, born in Livermore, enjoys writing about epic fantasy. He debuted with his first series Verdunmull, published in 2019. It consists of two books. His primary focus as an author is to expand the series and develop it in detail.

In the story, monsters, dragons, elves, dwarves, angels and demons hit in a battle. Everything is about the conflict between good and evil. In general, the reader comes to a novel to be entertained, to spend time, to lose himself in a world completely differen

Verdunmull: Book 1: The Ikalreev Prophecies by Jared Zakarian was quite an unexpected adventure fantasy book. It truly was something unique, and it felt very different from the other adventure and fantasy type of books that I have recently read. The story is all about a magical world where there is both good and evil. But when good and evil collide, a war takes place. But this is no typical war among mortal enemies. No, this war is an immortal war and is unlike any normal battle. The author does ...more

This story starts off with some great colorful maps. I was impressed. Then there was a prophecy that was extensive and convoluted and overwhelming right at the beginning of the story. I think if the prophecy was spread out a little it wouldn’t have been so overwhelming. There are fallen angels on a journey of redemption that just don’t make sense to me. The seals protecting Ikalreev are in danger of falling. There are dragons, elves, ogres dwarves, demons, warriors and other fantastical creature ...more

“Verdunmull Book 1: The Ikalreev Prophecies” by Jared A. Zacharian is a novel depicting a race between good and evil. It’s a fast paced fantasy novel the likes of which readers haven’t seen in decades. Prophecies tell of an evil about to awaken when seals are broken and an ancient race of immortals that are trying to stop the creatures from taking over. Five mages control the elements, but mortals keep getting in the way. They are trying to prevent the seals from opening, following Cardmom, the ...more

Verdunmull follows the typical pattern of many fantasy novels (at least since Tolkien) where a small band must come together on a quest to save the world and help the world avoid, or win, an epic battle between the forces of good and evil. It contains plenty of magic, creatures, mystery, prophesies, and intrigue. It is epic fantasy in its highest form. If you love fantasy, then you will absolutely love this one. If you don’t love fantasy, this is still a great book but you may have a harder time ...more

It was the title that drew me to “Verdunmull: Book 1: The Ikalreev Prophesies” by Jared Zakarian. Something about the hard to pronounce/spell title made it extra intriguing and I have to say, I was not disappointed. This first book established the tone and introduced readers to the characters and the fantasy world. As an epic adventure, this has all the elements that get readers hooked—mythical creatures, immersive plot, carefully crafted world and conflicts that evoke emotions. The illustration ...more
Exhilarating read

I loved reading this book. I really enjoyed the adventure that this story took me on. I’m so excited for this story because it is a series that I can totally get lost in. This is a fantasy and magical world that has been beautifully created to make you want to be part of it. I found myself drifting off while not reading the book thinking of what was going to happen. As soon as I was done with it, I knew I needed more! I need more continuations of this! Do yourself a favor and pi

“Verdunmull” is the first book in “The Ikalreev Prophecies” book series. I read this book with a completely open mind as I was told it was really good, but it is not necessarily my type of novel persay. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with what I found in these pages. This book is loaded with adventure, a great plotline and excellent characters that are so highly-developed it is hard to believe that they aren’t real people. I am super excited to read and take on the next book and ...more

This is a fantasy story built around prophesies, which are avidly read and believed. The Ikalreev prophesies have become a legend and the time they are prophesying seems to be now. Mythical creatures are awakening and a terrible evil has been able to pierce the veil between the realms. An unlikely hero is discovered. He, himself has no idea of his destiny or that he is special in any way, but he rises to the terrifying challenge. This is the first book of a series and I am looking forward to the ...more

I love how the book starts. The prophecies add depth and mystery that really hooked me into reading the rest.
I was never bored or disappointed. There are mysteries, mages, dragons, and epic battles. I think my favorite part was not knowing what was going to happen next.
In my opinion, I've just found the next Lord of the Rings series. I'm looking forward to more.
I'm excited to say I'm starting the second book this week and gave my copy of Book 1 to my friend. I've gotten a whole bunch of reque
