I want to start this review by stating that I received a free copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way changes or affects my review.

This book drew me right in from the start and dug it’s claws into me. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what would be revealed next. This is how you do psychological thrillers right! I felt like my mind was being played with and I adored every second of it! I can’t wait to see what Davey comes up with next!

Lily has managed to make it to her thirties without getting the proper medical treatment for her mental health. During a casual conversation with her friend Zayan, Lily informs Zayan that she wants to be his first official patient once he’s a licensed psychologist. Zayan realizes this is the opportunity that he needs to get real experience for his doctoral applications, so he offers Lily the opportunity to start now since analyzing his stuffed animals isn’t really all that promising. Lily agrees ...more

My first psychological thriller. This is such an incredible read. I’m impressed with the writing style and the story itself.

The characters are well developed. The main character is Lily who is struggling with her mental illness. it has a slow beginning but it became more interesting chapter after chapter and you just can’t put this book down. The short chapters really kept me turning the pages. And the most interesting part is the therapy scenes.

I felt like the ending was a bit rushed though I’

I have to admit, I've never read a psychological thriller before.
I just decided to give it a try. I love to read in different genres and this one was a first for me.
This book begins very slow and describes all acts in very psychological way and without bigger emotions. It describes the days, months and years of a girl and later a woman with borderline personality disorder, that tries to survive and behave like any other normal person. She plays her role like in a theater and hopes it's enough. I

I received a free copy of this book from the author via voracious readers only.
Although this book was a quick read it was also a slow burning pressure cooker you know is heading to a climax that you don’t see coming.
Lily is dealing with a lot mentally but unwilling to seek help until a friend from the past steps in. As they talk over her issues her past and present collide with leads to a conclusion I didn’t see coming. A quick and enjoyable read.

I received this book as a free review ebook from the author. I enjoyed ride through lily's fragile mental health roller coaster. I like that it focused on the decline of her mental state making it a true psychological thriller. I do wish it were a little more in depth. The glimpses of her past were gripping but could have been expanded on a bit more to add to the story and her issues. The ending also felt a bit rushed, but it definitely surprised me so I guess it worked well for the pace of the ...more

Full Disclosure; I recieved a free copy of Honey Talk from the Author for an honest review.

Lily lives a simple life that reveals some terrible secrets. She knows she needs some help but who can she trust to help her unravel the chaos in her mind, heart and past?

The first thing that was impressed upon me with Honey Talk was the incredibly rich prose; the almost lyrical writing style that marks Davey as an incredibly talented writer. I can imagine, based on his style, having an entire collection

Honey Talk is the debut novel by author Declan Davey and I have to say it’s a great start.

Short, crisp chapters which flow with the ease like that of hot knife on butter, Honey Talk will make you question your own sanity. As I followed Lily trying to solve her past problems, I felt like I was stuck in quick sand. The more I tried to make sense of what Lily is battling through, the more I was pulled into the sand. At one point I just left everything and let the narrative take me where it wants me

As a former clinical therapist Davey goes down into the rabbit hole with his main-character. The downward spiral of an unique personality is described in a really immersive way, and it gives the reader a totally different perspective on living with undealt trauma and disease.
While having the potential to be a wake-up call to some readers, it is certainly an absorbing read for anyone that likes psychological thrillers!

This psychological thriller was a slow warm up with a fast pitch. The characters were well-developed & I was fully invested. As the story built, so did the pressure, like a powder keg about to explode. And then it did. The ending was a huge "What just happened?!" 😵😳
