I sat down with an early ARC of The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany on a lovely sunny afternoon and couldn't stop reading. Needless to say, dinner was late at our house... When Emilia and her cousin set off to break the curse of loveless second sisters under the guidance of her great-aunt, she discovers far more about her family than simple curses. Lori Nelson Spielman's deft and tender touch illuminates a glorious journey through Italy, and the heart. The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany is

With lush descriptions of Italy, poignant writing and intriguing family secrets, The Star Crossed Sisters of Tuscany is as effervescent as an Aperol Spritz and written in Lori Nelson Spielman’s signature heartfelt style. Emilia’s journey of self-discovery transported me to Venice’s enchanting canals and the striking beauty of the Amalfi Coast, while Poppy’s story—set sixty years earlier—wove in the lasting impact of the Berlin Wall. I didn’t want to leave Nelson Spielman’s lovably flawed cast of

I hate to start a rave review with a negative but I kinda loathe the title and here's why: this book title conveys nothing of the depth of emotion, story, and change that occurs in this awesome novel. This title sounds frivolous and silly and this book is anything but that. This is, on one level, a sweet romance but it is also so, so much more. This book literally made me sob, I was so invested in the characters and their stories. There is some deep brilliant advice in here. Advice I had to stop

This is the perfect Spring vacation read!
This a delightful story about family, myths, and love. It follows two incredible women, Poppy and Emilia, as they reflect on the past and push for a better future. In their family, second-born daughters are cursed from finding love. While all the ladies of the family pretend they don't believe it, the truth is that it's sort of become a self-fulfilling prophecy for them. Poppy is determined to break that though on her eightieth birthday when she must ...more

From my blurb for this gorgeous book: “In The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, Lori Nelson Spielman has created a stunning, heartwarming, multi-generational story of family secrets and self-discovery, spanning the globe from New York to Italy. Emilia, Poppy, and Lucy’s deeply emotional, life-changing, and life-affirming journeys instantly captured my heart, broke it then put it back together. Spielman will make you believe everything you want to be is possible.” I received an advanced reader

Review to come

I ADORED this.

I LOVED this book! I am a huge Lori Nelson Spielman fan and this much anticipated novel did not disappoint. From the first page until the last, a story evolves that is vividly narrated and creatively written and kept me engaged until the very end. There are beautiful words of wisdom sprinkled throughout - with my favorite being; "Life is better measured in friendships, not years." A delightful read that - leaving me to want more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley/Penguin Random House for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I can unabashedly say it was charming.
I loved the characters, the settings and the story. I love how the main plot line of the book was interspersed with a subplot line of the past that explained what happened that led up to the present time frame of the main storyline.

“The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany”. A truly beautiful Fairy Tale starts when Filomena cast the curse upon her sister more that two hundred years ago. Since then, not one second born daughter has found lasting love. Now it is present day and Great Aunt Poppy {Paulina} calls Emilla Fontana along with her cousin Lori, all second born sisters, to go along with her to Tuscany. There, Aunt Poppy will once again meet the love of her life on the steps of the Ravello Cathedral on her eightieth

Oh boy; not sure what to read after finishing this as it definitely had me in a book hangover and whatever comes next will have big shoes to fill. What a beautifully written book. Hopes and dreams and family and forgiveness and throw in all the beautiful places in Italy; who could ask for more! I loved this book and the characters were nothing short of amazing! I laughed and cried. Oh boy did I cry! Highly recommend that you don’t miss this one. Thanks to Goodreads and the Publisher for winning

I won this book on Goodreads Giveaways and I am so glad I did. I absolutely loved it! Aunt Poppy takes her two nieces to Italy for her 80th birthday. She promises to break the curse that every second born daughter will never find love. Aunt Poppy gives them each such wise advice and reveals little by little her life story. The book just fascinated me and I truly got involved with the characters, this author has a true gift.

What a great inter-generational story of a curse perpetrated on the second sister of an Italian-American family. The novel begins in NYC then moves to the Italian countryside around Florence down to the Amalfi Coast. I felt the pleasure of being back in Italy. My favorite character who showed such strength of character was Aunt Poppy.
This dual story line is inspired by true events from mid-twentieth century.
I look forward to reading more from Ms. Spielman.

Really enjoyed so much about this book. I loved the travel aspect and the idea of finding the place you are meant to be, even if it’s not where you started out. It was entertaining to see the growth of the characters throughout the book, and the story provides for several different emotional responses (some aspects are heartbreaking). Will definitely be taking a lot of Poppy’s advise to heart. Great book overall!

Received this book from Goodreads giveaway. A lovely well told story. Alternating points of view between Emilia present day and Poppy in the past. The past covers the story of Poppy and her sister Rosa. Emilia hears of this story from Poppy as they travel to Italy. Lots of secondary characters really pull this story together. Recommended
