If you're a cat fancier and lover and want to know more about the history of cat's and facts this book is for you.

It goes all the way back to Egyptian times when they would make them into mummy's. How they were respected and even buried with the dead. Then going through history Greece, Vikings, orient, witch and modern times.

All types of interesting information don't want to spoil it all for you.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

amazing cat facts

What a great little book of cat facts! I knew some, but others were new to me. They definitely have minds of their own.

I absolutely loved reading this book. I am a big animal fan in general, so maybe it's just me. But this book is a great book for cat lovers out there to learn more about their feline friends! There are 365 amazing facts in this book which help you understand more about your whiskered friends. There are also some facts about spaying and neutering your pet, and some facts about historical cats as well. If you need to find something about your cat, this book is a great reference! I also like how Scottsdale categorized the facts and put the different categories into different chapters. That helps to find the fact that you're looking for really easily. I would like to thank Peter Scottsdale for providing a review copy for me!

This was another free Kindle pick-up at the time and one I thought was going to be a fairly interesting read.

First of all the book starts off with an Introduction that explains the title of the book has nothing to do with the subject of the actual book itself. Instead the number is a reflection of the amount of days within a given year as that is something that the author fancies nor did I even attempt to try to count the facts in the book to see if there is more than the suggested amount. Furthermore at least this author did acknowledge that there is more or likely the chance a reader may know some of the included facts in the book.

The few things that stood out to me was the fact that the author did choose to put the facts together in organized sections thus allowing the reader to skip around if there is any one particular subject they may want to learn about. The book starts off with a history of cats, especially focusing on their place in Ancient Egypt before tackling other places for cats. It then progresses from there into exploring the various components that help to make a cat a cat, their behaviors, the need for spaying/neutering and a finish by looking at both cat records plus their place in folklore and belief thus making for a rather rounded view altogether.

What I didn't like about the book is there isn't really a clear delineation of facts from one another and they aren't brief thus when taken as a whole the author may have been better off writing an essay rather than trying a bulletin-like approach. At the same time there are lots of facts that are repeated although with some of the information worded differently while these repeats aren't even that far from the original stated fact.

The inclusion of small comments from the author's own Siamese was also quite confusing. The words should have been tacked under the provided facts or maybe put into Italics thus giving the reader a chance to skip these additionals if they wanted. I didn't find most of the comments funny either but then again my humor is a bit off.

All in all it was a rather decent book and one that cat-lovers may enjoy poking through but there are definitely more interesting as well as better put-together cat books out there for those who are truly interested in the material.

Interesting Facts

Well organized and consistently interesting. Worth going through if you like cats. Most of these are historical facts and some are quite gruesome so be warned if you're very sensitive. Good read for children.

A light hearted read with a myriad of information about cats, their owners, their physiology. It includes a amount of history about cats, the lore that surrounds them, and the myths. I am a big cat fan, and even I learned things I did not previously know.

Just the facts please

Facts only.. No useless fluff involved. This book has lots of fun facts about our feline companions. Nothing too detailed, just lots of factoids. Kinda fun, to be honest. On to the next book.

When I read the title of a book that claims to contain "Fascinating Facts" that is kind of what I am looking for. The book started out with theories of cat origins and behavior which were sometimes contradictory [so NOT facts] and often not fascinating. I almost quit reading (my wife did quit) but I persevered. I am glad I did as the book eventually become fascinating and factual. So... recommended with advice to cover the first part [maybe 15-20 %] liberally in your litter and enjoy the last part with purrfect abandon.

This is a great little book filled with all kinds of information. It is a very quick read, and though telling lots of informative information and facts, statistics etc. it was not boring at all. If you are a cat lover and like trivia or simply want to know more about where your cat came from and how they came to be domesticated animals, then this quick little book is for you. Quick, easy to read, never dull or boring, facts, myths and some humor thrown in make it a delightful read. I have just downloaded the sequel to this called "More Fascinating Facts You Didn't Know About Your Cat" and will read it tomorrow. Until then have a purrfect day!!

Wonderful

I truly learned something today...
It was not completely over my head...
Was a joy to read. Keep up the good work. There's a Towne Crier in Emporia Kansas, or used to be. You should promote this book there. It might help keep the cat circle going and going strong.

Nada como leer datitos sobre gatitos

Es bastante entretenido, y me encanta ver como se trató al gato a través de las diferentes culturas, aunque los datos random siempre son la mejor parte

I found this book interesting, more than facts, I found the history of these lovely creatures, which have become members of our own families. Maybe what I expected because of the title and the short description was different from what I read. But I admit I learned more about this little tigers 🤍
