14-year-old Jack lives with his mom in Brampton Ontario and is best friends with Al McMann, an elderly man in the neighborhood. When a stray dog turns up, Jack and his mother have a blow-up over whether to adopt it or call animal-control. She wins, and Jack finds himself dodging the dog-catcher. Ducking through a fence, he discovers he has somehow slipped back in time to Juneau, Alaska, in the mid-thirties. His mission is to help his friend Marshal McMann, now “young” Al, to clear the name of an innocent man.
