Gray and Rohan Parker have been through one hell of a year. A mating that started out with both life and death, they’ve held on tight to one another for months, just trying to survive. Needing some alone time, Rohan plans a lavish vacation to paradise for Gray’s next heat—the honeymoon they weren’t able to take. Now that their twins are fifteen-months, they hope to finally connect again and share an intimacy they haven’t been able to since the toddlers were made.
But a mix-up with the bags threatens their little piece of paradise and brings up old fears and buried emotions. They face up to the loss, the love, and their future together—and have to decide if they let nature take its course.
International bestselling MM romance author Kelex lives in Hampton Roads, Virginia with her twenty-something slacker kidult and two senior grandpups.
When not being a pain in her daughter’s ass or writing under various pen names, she also loves to create stained glass, paint, crochet, bake gorgeous breads, and host game night with all her kiddos, be they born or adopted.
I know that in this he sort of redeems himself by saying multiple times that if Gray wants to wait to have another baby then they'll wait, but I can't get over how he was in the previous book.
Even though he had extenuating circumstances. I'm petty, sue me.
Hated how much time his now dead omega took up in the first book and hate that even now, they're potentially having another baby because 'it's a sign from Jamie'.
Jamie's dead. Fuck Jamie.
*I don't actually hate Jamie. But only because he's dead. Will forever hate a now dead good spouse in romance because they remain a spectre over the new romance.
Even worse in this one because Jamie literally handpicked Gray for Rohan so that he wouldn't 'stay alone, needs something to live for'.
Then married Rohan fucked Gray, impregnated him, then they both played happy families SEPARATELY with Jamie before he passed.
Literally both hand holding the now dead guy, while Rohan pretty much ignored pregnant Gray because 'he felt it was disloyal to Jamie to feel happy about it'.
Sigh. Should have just written a hate review for His Surrogate Omega when I'd just read it.
Because now I don't remember everything but I remember hating Rohan.
Still do.
Remember feeling sorry for Jamie. Was way too young and naive to get caught up in a couple's 'saw your vibe from across the bar and I liked it and think I'd like you to have my husband's baby so he has something to live for when I'm gone.'.
Seems like even while dead, Jamie's still calling the shots.
That said, Gray saying, AFTER SEX, mind you, 'It felt dirty. I feel like I just slept with my best friend's husband.', had me dead.
That's what you did, boo. Whether or not it's actually dirty is up to the 3 of you. You, him, and the dead guy.
Who kinda wanted you to fuck his husband.
Honestly, what even is this. Imagine leaving a whole ass husband as an inheritance to someone.
Makes gives us and inside look on baby Jasyn was created. The epilogue in Book One talked about him being around but we the reader didn't know when he was conceived.
I really enjoyed this little novella. Can not wait for Book Two.
3.5 ⭐️’s. I loved the sequel to His Surrogate Omega! That was such a heartbreaking book I’m glad Grey and Rohan had each other and we got to read some of their happy times together. I know I’m a glutton for punishment but I want to go back and listen to the first book on audio before I go any further in the series. 🤗
But there’s an intimacy that extends beyond the flesh that we’ve had little time to cultivate. This is a chance for us to bond in a very different way.
Sweetie little story. Since it was just a short story there wasn't much plot development but I enjoyed seeing the process of their third child, Jasyn. Horrible name btw. It was a surprising jump at the end of #1 to have 4 children so I like having a little more back story. They are both so sweet and I really appreciate their love for Jamie and wanting to keep his memory in their lives. "Gray turned his head and looked at his alpha. Their alpha. A part of Rohan would always be Jamie's, and Gray completely accepted that. Wholeheartedly." Also love the afterthought that they should have all had a threesome, facts take me backkkkkk. Gray being obsessed with pregnancy now after being like so strongly against it when he was single is, ill say it, a little disappointing. So excited to see where Wilder and Avery go, I know they will be such a vivacious pairing!!
Yay!! More time with Rohan and Gray! Ok so I’m kinda biased since I brainstormed with the author and came up with the idea to get some happy times resulting in their second pregnancy, but I think this is JUST what us fans of HSO need. Happysexyfun time that these two rightfully deserve.
This takes place in between the last chapter and epilogue from His Surrogate Omega, so you definitely want to have read that story before this one.
I loved all the sweetness between Rohan and Gray, and that Jamie could be included too. Read it, love it, and get ready for more hopefully soon in this series.
I enjoyed this a lot, but considering that I hate threesomes, the constant references to Jamie are not something I liked. This was supposed to be this couple's honeymoon, their chance to enjoy a heat without guilt, yet Jamie's ghost is ever present, turning every happy moment into a bittersweet one. Personal preferences aside, I can't deny that it's very written and emotional for such a short and sexy read.
Meh. I'm not really a fan of these little codas authors seem to be so fond of writing, so I should have gone with my original plan to skip it.
I don't really think this added anything to the story or ended things any better than the book already did.
And then there is the fact that from the first book to this coda, an omegan pregnancy went from 10 months to 9 months... though Gray's first pregnancy was cut short at 8 months, with his premature delivery. A little consistency would be nice is all.
2.5 rounded up. It felt more like a short fanfic than the real thing, not because it was a novella and not a full-fledged book, but because it really felt unpolished.
My main issue was the lack of continuity with the heat, because in book one, they clearly consummate the claim during Gray's first heat postpartum, and they use condoms and they don’t mention any issue with it. And here they pretend like they haven't had a heat together since that first one for the surrogacy. And like, Gray couldn't use Heat Repress while he was chestfeeding the twins, (they don’t mention that the Heat Repress had stopped working on him anyway) so he was just locked in a room alone in full heat during all of these full moons until now. I mean, I'm sitting there and I'm like, no, that's not how it works, that would be just awful and cruel. At least try to mention that they did share one heat or two together with condoms but that the instinct to breed and the lust were so strong that they almost messed up and decided that abstinence was the only way… I wouldn’t agree but at least it would feel like some thoughts were put into the issue. And so the whole thing with them losing their bag and Gray not having his pills, but they still have condoms and Rowan is able to use one when the heat starts. So I'm like, okay, but that just doesn't sound like the true story. And it’s all a moot point anyway because Gray is like Jamie sent us the sign that we should have a baby so let’s not use the condoms. So now Jamie’s ghost comes to tell you when you’re ready to have new children… okayyy
And then the other thing is Gray having his moment after they fucked and being like, oh no, it feels like I'm fucking my best friend's husband. And sure, but also it's been over a year and you're married, so you can miss your friend, but not have that existential crisis just right after. That felt a bit icky.
And the last thing was that they mentioned that if Jamie had survived, they would have made it a threesome. And I'm just like, what have I been saying all this time? I mean, that's just cruel to mention it like that. All of book one was showing that love and attraction could happen between more than just one alpha and one omega. They had Tensen who was a beta being infatuated with Gray, they had Avery finding his classmate Brett who was a beta to be attractive. They had the whole history book saying that omegas of a same alpha could be in love and have intimate relations. And still we had to watch Jamie die before anything could really start aside of pain and yearning and more pain. I mean I loved book one, I cried, but I don’t appreciate having my ideal happy ending being thrown in my face like that. I will pretend this novella doesn’t exist thank you but no thank you
I still need more Gray and Rohan, I'm not done with these two characters yet. I really love them so much and this was a perfect addition to their story but I still need more.
This story is actually set before the epilogue of the last book and it was so good to see more of Rohan and Gray, especially with their twins, Jamie and Silver. Also, this extra has everyone so not only do we get Gray and Rohan and their kids, but we also have Avery, Lake and Auggie and even Wilder makes an appearance or two.
It's a peek into Gray and Rohan's life about a year after the birth of the twins and Jamie's death and it was incredible to witness these two make their lives with each other while still coming to terms with the things and the person they lost and the things and people they gained.
This story is short but not too short which I loved and thinking about the ending puts a smile on my face but I totally wouldn't mind more peeks into their life. Also, can we please get Avery's story now?
✔ Letto!
This is such a fantastic follow up to the heartbreaking/heartwarming story His Surrogate Omega! I loved the first book so much and this story of Grey and Rohan gives them a little time to acknowledge to each other how much they both loved and miss Jamie. The devastation of Jamie’s death and birth/care of the twins never gave them a chance to acknowledge their love and learn more about each other. Cried at each happy and sad parts, what a great book to follow their story!
This novella takes place between the main part of "His Surrogate Omega" and its epilogue. We catch up with Gray and Rohan about a year and a half after the death of Jamie, Rohan's first omega. This low-angst story is focused on their tropical vacation getaway and Gray's first heat after the birth of their twins. It's feel-good catch-up on everyone's lives and fills in a bit of what happened prior to the previous epilogue.
Yea, A wonderful jewel of a little short story featuring Gray and Rohan, Who we met in "His surrogate omega". I was so happy to read this little slice of life story about the beginnings of their 2nd pregnancy after the twins are about 15 months old. It was sweet, sexy, sultry and just a fun quick read.
Given the synopsis and the fact that this is a short story, I honestly expected this to be basically an excuse to write porn. But this was actually a really sweet and cozy glimpse in Ronan and Gray's future and I adore them so much! Their relationship is just precious and those baby boys get me all mushy inside .
OMG! What a great short story for the novel! Rohan in full-Father mode is amazing! I love them talking about choice, about Gray's free will to choose pregnancy or not, talking about Jaime and memories. It's so cute to see Avery low-key primping for Wilder.
This novella was really enjoyable. Gray and Rohan Parker are mated but still getting used to the idea. Going on a vacation seems like a great idea, but problems arise. Loved the way they worked through them. Will be looking for more from Kelex.
This was such a cute short story of Rohan and Gray. Their story continues 15 months after Jamie’s passing, and it was such a joy to the heart to see them slowly healing and being a happy family.
Loved the quick check in with Gray and Rohan. It was nice to have an extended check in with these two in happier moments. Must read epilogue to the first book.
