3.5 HEARTS--Being a city girl and raised in a family filled with females, this premise is like a deepest nightmare wrapped in horror filled kisses - being kidnapped at gunpoint in your vehicle. I know this is fiction because Ben would have failed my family's tests of traveling alone 101 - lock the fucking car doors especially at night. He made a lot of questionable decisions throughout "Northwest of Normal".

Then again he shouldn't have parked where he parked in the first place. *sigh*

I really liked this and honestly was like HOLYSHITBALLS how can this possibly work out. And jaysus I spent the whole book wanting to hug Murphy and squeeze him and keep him forever. And wanting to back hand him. For heavens sake.

Only reason I can't give it full 5 is cuz I REALLY needed to see more of their HEA, some of how they were gonna make that crazy week become a stable relationship after all their shit.

That being said, I recommend the heck out of this if you want the bite your nails AND h

Through all the angst, grit & drama something beautiful evolved. I love that Murphy got his Wolfie !

Waking up on the back seat of your car to discover you’ve been hijacked by two wannabe gangsters might be the stuff of nightmares, but it certainly makes for an explosive opening to this novel. Laura Gomez pulled me right into the midst of the action from the first sentence and kept me there until the end. Much of this had to do with the fact that Ben is such a sympathetic hero. His zest for life and air of wholesome innocence captured my heart from the outset, so that I identified with his roll ...more

3.5 stars

To enjoy this book I’d say you have to accept it’s a work of fiction and that not every little detail is realistic. The characters don’t always react how you think they should. This book is about a captive falling in love with his captor. So if that’s a no no for you I’d just step away now. It’s maybe not my favorite trope but I thought this one was pretty well done. I understood how Ben could fall for Murphy. I thought there was plenty of re

Premise is intriguing. But instead of being terrified for a single second after being carjacked, kidnapped, punched, burned by flicked cigarette, Ben is staring at Murphey's (kidnapper #2)rear as he leaves him behind to be beaten by kidnapper #1. Then, minutes later, he stares at his lips, wondering if it's the same color as his ****. Forcing an attraction that belies human nature is

A Joyfully Jay review.

I was drawn to this story from the blurb — I love a good prisoner and captive story so I was intrigued by the setup here. Overall I think the writing was smooth, the story fairly easy to read, and the set up and conflict interesting. However, while the writing worked fine for me, I had a lot of issues with the story itself, which really affected my enjoyment of the book.

So like I said, I was drawn to this one from the start for the idea of the prisoner falling fo

Murphy and Ben were cute. I was left wondering about some things at the end though, important things.

This book was definitely not your typical read. I have to be honest I view this book as more of a Stockholm Syndrome type book because one of the lead characters is kidnapped by two brothers. Somewhere along the way he falls for one of the brothers that has kidnapped him. So for that reason only, that is why I view it as that type of read.

Ben just graduated college and has decided instead of flying back home to instead drive cross country in his heap. After a long night of driving, Ben decided t

There are so many things that I love about this story and just as many that I dislike quite a bit so I really don't know where to start. The writing is excellent, the characters are complicated and intriguing even when I don't like them, Ben's family is amazing and the bond that develops between Ben and Murphy is wonderful and awful at different times during the story. There are a few scenes t
