She doesn’t want to fall for love again… Especially with an ex-member of a full-fledged racist organization. So when she starts to feel things she doesn’t want to feel, she runs away at full speed. One year later, she walks right into the arms of the man she tried to escape. He’s not willing to let her go so easily this time around. The hidden hate culture in his small town won’t deter him. His family member’s opinions about her only make him want her more. His willingness to protect her will make him go to the extreme.
They both have a complicated dilemma… Will a new season of love prevail for two people seeking a Safe Place to love?
This girl loves a good book--especially books that suck you into the pages and take you to new worlds, providing a much needed break from the everyday hustle. I'm obsessed with happily ever after and feel good romances that serve up a strong dose of reality.
I loved Tameka’s and Jeb story. The development of the plot was awesome! Tameka and her stubbornness had me wanting to bust her upside her head. But overall this was excellent book😭😭😭waiting patiently for the next book in the series.
Kenya's sister Tamara just would not let herself openly admit her attractions to her sister's husband's cousin Jeb Holloway. She'd heard about his playboy rep and was not in line to be used by anyone, especially after her divorce from her low down former husband Rodney. She had enough on her plate with dealing with him and being a good mother to her two children Eva and Kevin. She was constantly having to run interference with her child when Rodney failed to spend time with their children and opting to be with a girlfriend instead.
Jeb was at a point in his life where he was tiring of that ladies' man life. It was time to settle down and he had his eyes on the spicy Tamara. She was stubborn, out spoken and fiercely loyal to her sister and her children. So, when the opportunity presented it self, he'd make her his. He had to tread lightly and take his time on the advice of his cousin and Kemara, letting Tamara come to the realization that their relationship could work.
Shani wrote an easy read sweet romance about a stubborn woman coming to the realization that she could take a chance on love again, and the man patient enough to let her come to that realization and accept her just the way she is!

"Safe Place" Dangerous Bonds Book 2 by Shani Greene-Dowdell
My Thoughts....
I enjoyed the story even though it was a little predictable. However, it was still a good sweet read where you find Tameka had a horrible marriage and coming out of it with two children she definitely had reason for trust and heartache issues especially what she had endured from that crazy ex. I will say karma is something in what call comes to that ex.
It was great to see by the end Tameka finding someone like Jeb who went after what he wanted and even having his cousin Channing and his wife Kemara behind him was definitely good.
So, from heartbreak to truly happiness...."Safe Place" would be a good read to see how it all happened.
When I first started reading this story I thought this was going to be so good considering how the first couple gets together. My first problem is that we don't get a description of what the main characters look like or any character for that matter. Also the writer mentioned in the beginning of the book what kinda of life the Jeb lived,I can't believe that you leave that just Scot free. Also the heroine comes off so childish that are awhile you just get tried of even reading. This was an okay read could have better,I think a rewrite on the dialogue is needed.
Tameka was a difficult person to like Jeb was always honest with her, especially about his feelings towards her. The Rodney character as written was a joke and his actions towards Jeb was juvenile and puzzling. Not even sure why the author felt it was needed . My rating is really 3.5 stars but no way to indicate a half star and 4 stars would be misleading.
The Safe Place Series are the first two books I've ever read by this author. Overall, I liked the story. Fundamentally, I love 'a love story', which is why I read the romance genre. There are, however, some clunky parts in these books. The main male character, Jeb, is a white man raised in the deep south by white supremacist parents, but his conversion to accepting, interacting and even loving a black woman happens in what seems like record time. The fact that he could abandon his racist views so quickly and fall in love with this black woman, Tameka, seems just a bit inauthentic. Just before Jeb falls for Tameka, his cousin also raised in a white supremacist household, falls for and marries a black woman. While I believe in the power of transformation and releasing negative energy to arrive in a more positive place, this story just feels a little far fetched. That being said, some of the conversations taking place between Tameka and her circle of black girlfriends had me laughing because the dialogue was funny and had a ring of familiarity. I'm always rooting for love so the fact that loves wins out in the end had me satisfied. This will not be the last book I read by Shani Greene-Dowdell.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"Safe Place Series 1 & 2" by Shani Greene-Dowdell
My Rationalization:
This turns out to be quite an interesting story as Jeb and Tameka finally will get there HEA. This author did a wonderful job of giving the readers a good story with 'relatable problems, hope and some well-meaning characters that will keep you turning the pages to see what is coming next in this racist aspects read. Along with an ex who seems to may have changed his way of thinking his children and ex-wife, however, it seems like it may be too late for a part of this now. I want to thank the author for giving the reader not only part 1 but also part 2 so we get the whole read in on setting. I love that! Anyway if you are looking for a good multicultural interracial romance read you have come to the right place for "Safe Place" will give it all to you. Definitely, Jeb was determined to keep Tameka safe and that was what he did.
Safe Place is a very lovely read . I enjoyed the characters and how they responded to one another . I enjoyed the rhythm of the story . I enjoyed the top notch descriptions and I was able to picture them ! Tameka and Jeb are two unlikely people thrust together at a wedding . Tameka , a single mother of two , is the Brides sister and Maid of Honor . Jeb is the cousin of the groom, and Best Man . As such , they are required for the 1st dance. As soon as Jeb has her in his arms , he can feel the chemistry !! Tameka can too, but refuses to act on it. But what would happen if they Did act on it ???? What follows next is a lighthearted story with a few twists and turns and just enough excitement to keep it interesting 😁😁😁 I will definitely read more from this Author !!!
Jeb had a hard time getting with Tameka because of her Stupid Ex Husband and how he treated her. I'm happy he stuck with her and her kids got along with him. They needed that male influence, thier dad was a Mess, Espescislly when he left them home alone and had the Nerve to get an Attitude cause she was taking them home. What a Dork. And to try to run Jeb off the Road, Ha Ha Jokes on him. He got hurt and Jail time. Dummy. Glad the sisters Both got thier Prince Charming .
Tameka was harsh to Jeb. Though fighting her feelings for Jeb, the running was starting to get to me. You'll never learn to move on if you're constantly running. I do like a persistent man. Jeb loved her even with the Rodney situation. Good riddance Rodney! I can't say he deserved what he got but needed to act right when it came down to his children.
Tameka was a bit much for me. For her to be the oldest sister she really conducted her self as the younger. The book had potential but lost some of its umph along the way.
Tameka and Jeb's story was so good! The plot was well written. With the current state of America's racial issues, it's so refreshing to read something positive. Their story was truly amazing.
Tamika's attitude was a true turn off in this book. The saying enough is enough.....well she went beyond that. I couldn't finish reading this. It was to petty for a grown ass woman to act so immature. Was truly disappointed with this book. It was really a 2 1\2 Stars story
Ok, Tameka’s attitude is pathetic. I didn’t like it from the start of the book.
Tameka told Kemara that she and Jeb slept together. They was giggling and talking about it like school girls. She was saying she felt something for him but wasn’t sure about it. Ok, it’s fine to be apprehensive; that’s normal. She didn’t call Jeb and Jeb gave her the space he thought she needed. Jeb shows up 2 weeks later at her home, she gives him the worst damn attitude. I’m like, what in the world is all that attitude for? What really got me was when they went to Aruba. The first night, they had dinner. Jeb asked Tameka to dance. He pulls her in closer and then she steps back. It’s just a dance!!! Get yourself together...DAMN!! Tameka wants to leave and she approached Channing and Kemara, while they are dancing, and says that she “wasn’t feeling well”. Channing and Kemara had to end their night because of her childish and selfish behavior. Yea, it’s a no for me. I don’t know any grown man, with self respect/worth, that would put up with that mess.
Having a wall up, being scared is understandable when it comes to opening yourself up to someone (trust me, I know) but to be disrespectful is on another level.
The author should have added another character for Jeb because he didn’t deserve stank attitude Tameka.
Miss me with this book. And all of the 5 starts?! Yea, no. 😒
I love all of the books in this series. I think my favorite part of all of these stories is that even though children are brought up around hate and bigotry that they can grow up and change that hate to love. Even though Jeb's character grew up in a White Supremacist group , he fell in love with Tameka and her children. I love their chemistry and how hard he had to work for Tameka's love. Tameka is a beautiful and complex character. I really connected with her. I understood her hardness and desire to not only protect herself, her heart, and her children after being in an abusive relationship. I love all of Shani's books. Her characters and story lines are beautifully written and are relevant to what is going on in our country right now. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. You are one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read mote.
I love the story of Jeb and Tameka. I think Tameka could have been a little more mature anout things in the beginning as she was in the end. But being that she was with Rodney at an young age, it was understandable that she would deal with somethings as someone young. Rodney needed his behind beat. A part 3 is definitely needed, to show how Rodney dealt with them getting married in between his memory loss. A good twist will be if he beleived that him and Tameka was still married, but her and Jeb has gotten married and she is pregnant. How would Tameka and Jeb deal with it. Just a few thoughts to consider. Really enjoyed it. MUCH LOVE !!!
Sometimes we have to step outside of our safe places and walk open hearted into the unknown. We use those lessons learned, have faith and courage and keep moving forward. It took Tameka awhile but she did just that & wound up with a winner in Jeb and a second chance. It was very good to read up on Kemara & Channing. I read their story months ago. There was no mention of Jebs' Dad and his reaction to the interracial union. But overall this is a saucy sweet relatable story with great character development in the H&H. And it's great how the relationship developed over time. Bloody well done!💞
At the beginning I was having a difficult time keeping to the story because Tameka was behaving in such an immature manner. I was so sure that Jeb was a the point of telling her about herself and letting her go! She would have deserved it! He is such a great and patient guy and I was really feeling sorry for him especially when they went to Aruba. But, I am glad that she realized (even her sister was losing patience with her immature ass) that she had a good man in her life and he wanted to be a part of her life. It ended well and now I am anxious to read about Bruiser and Alise!
This was a very nice read. TAMEKA & JEB had a good chemistry, but she had difficulty in letting go of her trust issues which is understandable for a person with her past relationship issues. However, Jeb was not going to give up. They both longed for the love they witnessed their family member had and wanted to strive to have that type of pure love.
That ex husband is a piece of work. I am curious to what he will do next.
Safe Place was really enjoyable. Tameka and Jeb definitely have chemistry. That tension is in every scene. Tameka wants a loving relationship but she is jaded. Thanks to her Ex husband, who was a cheater and abusive. Jeb is determined to be there for Tameka and her children. I am enjoying the Dangerous Bonds series.😊
That was a good read,I like it... We still have some unanswered questions such as the reaction of Jeb's father and the "brothers" to jeb and Tameka as a couple and now engagement. Waiting for book 3!!
Tameka was beyond frustrating and I found myself annoyed with her. Jeb was great, loved him. This book seemed rushed at the end, would have liked to see Jeb interact with the kids more.
Good read... Kept you in enough suspense. The love was sweet unrelenting inescapable. I like the voice of the writer. She really illustrated the scenes. I just couldn't get with Rochelle, that character a little more grimy elements... She was one of the real villains.
I loved the family dynamics the sisterhood relationship cousins. And the importance of family. Tamecka was truly heartbroken but had to put on a strong face for the kids. This was a great. Read from the first book truly enjoyed
I'd read this story beforehand last year and never finished. I decided to finish it and find out what happened. The story was nicely detailed with a good conclusion.
Wow!! This story had so many elements to make it interesting. Jeb was determined to no longer live by the racists' views he was taught and therefore choose his love for Tameka and her kids over hate. Tameka had to deal with an unfaithful ex-husband and her uncertainty of loving a white man who once belonged to the brotherhood. I'm happy that Jeb's dad is willing to take the 1st step in meeting Tameka because she is the woman his son loves. These 2 will face a lot of challenges, but they have Love, faith, trust ànd support from family and friends. So they got this. 👍👍
This book was just ok for me. I enjoyed the first one a lot more. There was passion and an ok storyline, but I felt like the relationship was a little forced. I was hoping for more drama with Rodney and was kind of disappointed. I am a fan of Ms. Green-Dowdell and will continue reading her books.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Jeb and Tameka it was smoking hot 🔥! I enjoyed the story line it prevalent to issues of today and how people deal with these issues. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed with this book.
I loved Jen and Temeka their characters were so loving and encouraging that people can change. I love that changing and kemara were still the book as well. Can't wait to read book three....
