This was the first book by Rachel Hauck that I read and even though it was years ago, I remember how much I enjoyed it. She has a way with creating fun, real characters that are likable and those you want to have a HEA.
Macy Moore is excited to be moving to Florida from her hometown in Georgia. She has everything she wants until she doesn't. Going home seemed her only choice and she finds out that might be the best choice.

I am really into a genre informally called "Christian Chic Lit." They are funny, modern and clean. I especially liked this one, because it is about a girl in her 30's that lives in Florida but is contemplating moving to Georgia, and when I read it, I was in the same exact boat!

If you didn't catch that this is a Christian/religious read, let me tell you it is, although it's not to heavy on the scriptures (but there is some). Good pace, funny character, yet not sure if I was going to like her in the beginning when she was very materialistic. The story follows Macy her daily life and those few GF's she hangs out with.

This has been on my Kindle for AGES. Finally got around to it.

I think that this was an early book by this author. Because while it was good, it wasn't the quality/depth that I've come to expect from her books. Still I enjoyed it. It was a quick read.

I know when I start reading a Christian Fiction book what I'm getting into. That's why I love this genre. But oh my GOSH! The author lays it on soooo thick. Maybe it's because I'm dealing with my own faith issues that I found it annoying or maybe it just truly was annoying. Plus the heroine of the story? She totally got on my nerves, how many signs and how many times does God have to show you something for you to listen? Maybe I found her annoying because I see me, who knows but I had to force myself to finish this one. Glad I only paid $0.99 for it...

Georgia On Her Mind is another fabulous book by Rachel Hauck. I always know that when I pick up a book by Rachel that I am going to thoroughly enjoy it, and I am not just going to read the book, I am going to live it. Georgia On Her Mind is so much more than just a good book. It is full of godly truths, that we should all learn to live by.
Macy Moore has it all by the world's standards - a well paid job, a new car, designer clothes and a nice flat. But somewhere along the way up the corporate ladder, Macy lost sight of God. Macy was unaware of this, until her friend told her. This can serve as a warning to us all, in the words of The Casting Crowns song, "it's a slow fade"...people often don't set out to walk away from God, they just drift away, as other things in life take over. Macy needs to renew her relationship with God. Her worldly self battles against her godly desires. Which one will win out?
Within the novel, Rachel Hauck explores relationships in general. They come in all different shapes and sizes. Macy has a nodding relationship with some of her neighbours but a much closer one with seventy seven year old Mrs Woodward. Then there is the relationship Macy has with her parents, work colleagues and group of girl friends. In all of these, Macy pursues a slightly different role, but she is always kind, compassionate and caring. Rachel Hauck has drawn Macy as a woman after God's own heart... by no means perfect, but doing her best, and as such the reader cannot help but like her.
Georgia On Her Mind is written in the first person of Macy, so the reader sees the world through her eyes. And as such the reader knows her thoughts and dreams, and this all helps to cement the reader's bond with Macy.
All the characters are realistically drawn, and I loved the bond and rapour between Macy and her group of girlfriends. The love and support that they showed each other was truly beautiful.
A major theme of the novel is searching - searching to fill that God shaped hole that we each have inside of us. It cannot be filled by stuff or a job or people, but still everyone tries. Macy is looking for that role that will fulfil her, but until she realises that the hole is God shaped, she will keep looking.
The novel is also about choices and dilemma's, we all have them. Macy has to weigh up what her heart, God and the world is telling her. Which voice will she listen to? In a world where there is so much competing noise, how easy is it to hear God's whisper?
I always enjoy books by Rachel Hauck. They are very readable, amusing, with a Biblical message that is powerful and would also be a wise path to take. Her main female characters, in this case, Macy are always likeable and well drawn. If you have not yet picked up a book by Rachel Hauck, I urge you to do so, as you are missing out!

Good Sweet Read

Ya know when th e exact book you need to read shows up at the perfect time, well this was that book for me. There were several parts i could really relate too and stopped to pray about my own crossroads in my life. It's not that life turns out perfect but recognizing that God's plan doesn't always look like ours is important to see and seek His answer instead of our own and I think Rachel does a great job of depicting that in this fun romance! And it's always a pleasant surprise to read books about women reinventing themselves later in life!

I tried this book. Got a few chapters in but just wasn't enjoying it. The characters all seemed almost crude, and it was told in first person present tense which I always struggle with reading.
I also found out there was a gay person in this "Christian" book.
Choose not to even attempt to finish reading.

I may try another book by this author, but I don't recommend this one.

I liked this book so much more than expected! It seemed a typical small town girl returns home and her unrequited high school "love" finally loves her kind of story, but it hits deeper levels. Between her parents, job dilemma and Single Saved Sisters, it all felt real. What really impressed me is how author Rachel Hauck doesn't shy away from the characters talking about Jesus. The scene where Drag asks Jesus into his life gave me goosebumps. A lot of Christian fiction I've read only seems to fall in that category because a character goes to church or prays, but this raised the bar. I hope you are encouraged by this book like I was!

For a 'Christian' book, it took an anwfully long time for the main character, Macy, to actually reflect any Christian qualities. She was such an annoying and self-centered person that I was tempted many times to forego completing my reading of the book at all.

The last chapter was the best part of the whole thing. However, it did not make up for the disappointments that lead up to that point.

I choose this audiobook because it was narrated by Amanda Ronconi, my fav! I had no idea that it was a "Christian Chick Lit" book, but if other books by this author are similar, I will hunt them down to read them. Ronconi does such a wonderful job with the various voices that it is easy to keep everyone straight. The main character, Macey Moore, is a young 30-something who is being pushed out of her Director of Sales position with a software company the same day that she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her. What to do? What to do? This was a good read following along with an intelligent woman who is reaching out asking God to help her along the way without being too preachy. Good listen!

Hilarious and Heart-wrenching

The description is hilarious, but I admire I'm Macy's commitment to GOD despite her pull in the opposite direction. Drag was hilarious; the SSS was both hilarious and heart wrenching (Their commitment to each other is true friendship). Dylan is every girl's dream. Macy had me sitting on the edge of my seat. She claimed to be listening for GOD, but she wasn't exactly listening to GOD. Atilla is symbolically corporate America. You get to live your dream, but there's a high price to pay.

First book of the authors I’ve read. Frankly, I found Macy hysterical. Her whiny demeanor a sarcastic, self-deprecating way of handling humbling smack-downs life threw her way. She realized through these circumstances that if God isn’t in the plans they’ll crumble. I liked seeing the growth in her Christian walk. So relatable. It’s a great reminder to stop believing the lies the world says will make us happy and fulfilled. I loved the comical character interactions and the self-talk we all can be guilty of at times.

I have been on a Rachel Hauck kick recently and this book did not dissapoint! In fact I thought the depth of the Christian message in this book was spot on and shows a Christian woman growing in her faith and when she finally trust God she receives that contentment that she was searching for. The actual story/plot was nothing too special or exciting but I loved the character growth and seeing Macy go through trials and situations that shows God's plan is His, and we can't control and micromanage our lives. But if we are honoring him no matter what our circumstances we can be content.

Macy finds herself pushed out of her job and dumped by her boyfriend in the same horrible day. She tries to make the best of things with the help of her friends, the "Single Saved Sisters," and worries about her upcoming high-school reunion. She doesn't want to return as a failure to her hometown. After several false starts, she finds a way to make it, after all. Believable characters and situation. I really enjoyed this story.

This story is fun, light, and full of moments that make you question your own ability to make choices and how you rely on God. I enjoyed the main character and her relationship with God. The book isn’t overly religious- I was never preached at, but shows how the character uses God in her life to guide her and her choices.
The southern culture and way of life is always a refreshing subject and I enjoyed the way the author weaves in the culture into a narrative of a girl trying to find herself.

Another great book by one of my favorite authors. A couple of things that I really appreciated in this book. 1. As the main character seeks God’s will in her life, she discovers it’s not always clear. Sometimes we need to make a decision and God will show us if we need to change course.
2. Although there is a love story in this book, it is not the main focus. I love how the author puts value on life giving friendships and seeking God in our general every day lives.

An excellent book about a girl who's life suddenly seems to fall apart when she is laid off and her relationship with her boyfriend abruptly ends. Where does she go from there? Thankfully she has a relationship with God but her life is still confusing. Follow her journey.

A very relatable story if you're at a crossroad in your life. God led me to read this book at this particular time, which validated a message God gave me on the same day. Isn't God wonderful!
