Rate this book

Julian Worth isn’t a man with time to spare. Ruling his billion dollar empire with an iron fist, work is the true love of his life. Which is why when it comes to marriage, a strategic alliance matters more than love. Julian is more than ready to sign on for a little superficial dating and a marriage of convenience if it allows him to take his company to the next level. What he wasn’t ready for was the woman who shows up as his prospective bride.

Holly Abbott has spent her whole life coming in second. Being born four minutes behind her twin sister has defined her life. But when her headstrong sister refuses to go along with their father’s plan to marry her off into a cold business arrangement, Holly has to step up. Knowing the infamous Julian Worth will only entertain marrying the Abbott heir, Holly sets her identity aside to transform into her sister. It’s an easy enough plan. A few dates with a man who isn’t hers won’t hurt anyone.

Except Julian is nothing like the ruthless tycoon she expected. Soon she’s left to wonder, what will happen when her sister comes back and worse, how will she ever be able to give up a man who doesn’t even know her real name?

My love for writing started young. Luckily I had a family who encouraged believing in magic and embracing imagination. From stories quickly scribbled in bright pink diaries, my love of storytelling developed. Since then my characters may have evolved and my plots may have grown decidedly more steamy but I never lost my love of the written word. Writing is not only a way to silence the wonderful voices in my head, but it also allows me to share my passions with my readers. Hope you enjoy my titles!

Betraying the Billionaire was a sweet, intense and joyful read. I've read my fair share of "arranged marriages" books, but this one was in a league all of its own! Holly was a very relatable character. Despite being born with a silver spoon in her mouth, she was down to earth, kind and real. I found little pieces of myself in her and I love being able to connect to the heroine on that level. Julian was unlike any other billionaires that I've read. He wasn't illustrated as a manwhore and disrespectful. He was lighthearted, flirtatious, and sweet. I really enjoyed seeing him and Holly fall in love. I loved the idea of the twin swap and thought it fit perfectly with the storyline. Nothing was too farfetched. I didn't get the best read on Hollie's sister Lillian, but I do look forward to reading her story and finding out exactly what happened in San Fran.

Thank you Entangled and Netgalley for the ARC of Betraying the Billionaire in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

2.5 stars - I wish I liked this one more. The hero was great, honest, fair and generous, with a soft center he rarely shows. The heroine, her I just couldn’t like.

***MILD SPOILERS FOLLOW***
She was all woe is me, I’m the second rate/second best gorgeous identical sibling. My sister is vivacious and has a few million waiting for her when she marries. I’ve always been chosen last, left behind, why doesn’t anyone see me. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Give me a break! She’s beautiful, grew-up wealthy, with every privilege. Okay, she didn’t win the lottery in the parent department but she has a loving sister, great friends and by all account employees who respect and value her. She even finds a man she’s falling in love with. So why choose loyalty to her creep father and employees over the man she says she loves. She doesn’t even know the facts as it relates to the health of the company and she doesn’t ask any probing questions. She knows her unscrupulous dad is lying and hiding something. I kept thinking, you’re a smart girl, get to the bottom of it (at least try) investigate, figure it out. Have some personal integrity, why don’t you? She’s well intentioned (as it relates to her employees) and not purposefully malicious. However, as she is very cognizant of her constant manipulations and deceptions, it’s impossible to see it as anything other than being blatantly careless with the hero’s feelings. Sadly, for me she seems whiny, spineless and pretty pitiful. Wow, I think I actually dislike her character even more than I realized.

Betrayal is in the title, so it’s not a surprise, yet I thought the reason for the betrayal would be more compelling, the father less despicable, the deception more truncated and the heroine possessing more integrity.

Unless you like women who are more puppet than powerhouse, the first 85% of this one is going to make you want to throw things. Sorry, I can’t recommend it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was light and fluffy, just like I wanted! There were parts where the logic seemed a little flawed, but overall, it was sweet and adorable. Exactly what I needed after a heavier read!

Three and a half stars.

Julian Worth is a foster-child turned self-made billionaire. Let down by people he loved in the past he has determined never to be hurt again. He feels that he is looked down on because of his humble origins so he decides to enter into a marriage of convenience, a strategic alliance with a rival family.

Holly Abbott is the quiet, bespectacled less glamorous of the Abbott twins, born shortly after the heir Lillian. But when Lillian disappears at a crucial moment Holly's father blackmails her into taking Lillian's place and pretending to be her sister to ensure the marriage, and the merger, takes place as planned.

Julian and Holly go on their first date with low expectations but neither finds the other to be as expected, can love survive deception?

Gah, I tried to change the edition in Goodreads and the computer ate my review! Anyway, although this felt quite old-fashioned to me, with the billionaire with a heart of gold and the overlooked younger twin, I have to say it is exactly what I was expecting based on the blurb and it delivered in abundance. Definitely one to read when you want to escape reality to a simpler time.

Good lord, did I love this novel. I quite literally devoured it in the space of less than a day - even when I was supposed to have been doing work. But honestly? It was worth it - I've read one other of Victoria Davies' novels (which I also loved), but this - I truly have to say, has probably become one of my favourite novel (at least for the time being). Is there anything better than a gut-wrenching novel about two people who are so perfect for one another, yet so in the wrong time and place? This novel made me smile, made me swoon and also made me tear up (just a little). Ooh! And it also left me wanting a Julian in my life - and also Lillian and Dominic's story (I did a little sleuthing, and I think there must be a second story - Lillian's - coming soon... Here's to hoping!)

Holly is nothing like her twin Lillian - apart from the looks and the DNA that they share. But other than that? Totally different. So, when Lillian, who had been essentially arranged to be married to Julian Worth - a sharp and cruel billionaire, refuses to take part in this paternally-arranged business deal and flees, Holly knows she has to step up. After all, it's just her pretending to be her sister until Lillian comes back, right? No harm, no foul. And besides, its for the good of some others, right? What she didn't count on was the fact that Julian, beneath that suit, is more than just a CEO - he's a foster kid with the biggest heart, and a mile-wide long loyalty and honourable streak. So, as you can imagine, this causes more than a few issues for Holly and Julian...
Characters:
So, if you couldn't tell already, I am slightly infatuated with Julian. But perhaps, more so with his and Holly's love story. Holly is an amazing heroine to get behind - she's sweet, kind, a bit quiet, but so, so strong. I think the way Davies has portrayed her is, actually quite nuanced - she clearly has some issues of her own surrounding insecurity, etc. but she does grow so much as a character, finally being able to stand up to her father.
As for Julian? Ooft. Let's just say I swooned - hard. Especially given how genuinely good of a guy he is - particularly for Holly. Tall, handsome, compassionate and loyal. What more could you want? Add in his love and chemistry with Holly, his relationship with his foster parents, and you've got Holly (and readers) captivated.
Storyline:
Let's just get this out right away - you don't necessarily pick up a novel like this because you're expecting wild deviations from the general expected direction. That's not to say that the writing or the plotting was bad or too cliched (but note, by the way, I kind of love cliches - there's nothing wrong with a little bit of the expected direction of human nature, right?) Did this turn out with the ending that you expect? Of course. You pick up a novel like this for a guaranteed happily-ever-after. Were there some times when I didn't expect things to happen and they did? Definitely. And, in my opinion (bar a few little typos here and there (bearing in mind I read an ARC)), the writing was gorgeous and really easy to not only enjoy, but to read. The mark of a good romance writer, in my mind, is when you begin to physically feel some of the heartbreak experienced by characters - and that's what Davies did!
Overall:
Okay, I genuinely don't know how much more praise I can heap upon this novel. I loved it. That's it.
A MAJOR congratulations to Victoria Davies for crafting this lovely novel - PLEASE GIVE US LILLIAN'S STORY SOON!!! (I really want to know what happened in San Francisco..)

A sometimes lighthearted, sometimes tense billionaire romance .

The characters are great , love the twin swap thing .

Julian is wonderful as the Billionaire boss looking to marry to further his business, but when something doesn’t seem right he and his business partners have to dig very deep to find the reasons.
All the while he’s falling for Lily, or is it Holly ?

Holly and Lillian swap rolls to save jobs and the family business , not knowing the man behind it all , their father , has even more nefarious reasons to want both business and family to joined to Julians company .

A great read that looks like being a great series , can’t wait to read Holly’s book .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

BETRAYING THE BILLIONAIRE by Victoria Davies is the story of Holly Abbott and Julian Worth.
Holly and Lillian are twin sisters but Holly is the 'oldest' so she is the 'heir' to the family. So when a business deal is struck with Julian to marry the oldest sister he is on board. Julian is all business and if his business needs a marriage to help him out then so be it. Although Holly and Lillian are twins they are completely different in attitude and action..but they do look somewhat a like. So when Lillian gets cold feet and leaves, Holly steps up to the plate until her sister comes back. What started out as pretend starts to feel to real for Lillian.
Loved their story...hope to read more from this author.

This was a unique twist on an “opposites attract” romance. I liked the setup and that the two twins were opposites. I particularly enjoyed reading about Holly and how she struggled to find her place. I thought the romance was well-done, with the banter between Julian and Holly especially true-to-life. The overall concept that the heart knows what it wants was a great message. I only wish that Holly’s father got a bit more of what he deserved. Overall, it was a good read, and I would recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for a complimentary pre-release digital ARC of this book.

This was an easy enjoyable read. Holly and Julian were good characters that were well written and had good chemistry. The story is not new (twin sisters switching places) but the author did a nice job of infusing the story with emotion as Julian and Holly take their journey to a happy ending. I liked the secondary characters - Lillian and Julian's co-workers Jason and Ryan. The author gave the reader a hint of Lillian's story in the epilogue and I am looking forward to reading her journey.

Betraying the Billionaire by Victoria Davies a five-star read that you would forgive anything for. This was my first read by this author and I am sure it won’t be the last, I was sobbing at times reading this one, smiling so big it hurt my face at others, Holly is someone you will fall for, she is just such a warm and inviting character. Julian is great, and you will warm to him as the story progresses, and unfolds, they are so complex and sublime together they will blow you away. The secondary characters play a good part, and will we ever find out what really happened to Lillian? Would you marry for other people? If you read this it may make you think and change your mind, I know it did mine,

Holly felt this meeting was far out of her comfort zone to work But if she fails everything will fall apart She was to meet her sisters fiance as her sister as her sister -Jullian-had left in the middle of the night as she will not marry Julian but she must have a plan to leave Holly in this position. . So Holly was to meet Jullian and act like she was Lillian. The twins had learned long ago to avoid their father-John- whenever they could. The man might be a business mongrel but when it came to his daughters all he cared about was what they could do for him. But he had pushed Lillian to far and she had ran. She wondered who brought a wife - the answer was - the answer was Julian Worth. The billionaire CEO had built his empire from the ground up as he had a knack at predicting the market and that had made him several fortunes. The plan was to combine the two massive corporations by marriage. Julian would get the connections he wanted and the Abbotts would get a son-in-law who everything he touched turned to gold. Holly’s father's company was struggling. If nothing changed they wer3e going to cut some jobs. Which was why she was here. Julian was set to meet his fiance instead he would meet Holly. Either she would confess his fiance had called everything off and the company would collapse even further at the expense of the employees or she could pretend to be Lillian and buy some time so they could look for Lillian. Even though Lillian and holly were identical twins they made sure they were different in some ways like how they style their hair or what they wore. Holly didn’t have Lillian’s vibrant personality. As their eyes locked Holly felt electricity shoot across her skin. But she had to be Lillian and not drool as Julian approached or lose the power to speak at the sight of him. The man who could doom or save them all. She couldn’t allow herself to be attracted to Julian. For Julian to agree to this deal he had to be as unscrupulous as John was. Julian said since this was a business arrangement they could approach the marriage honestly and say what they wanted to make of their life together work. He wasn’t opposed to them living as separately as she wanted. After talking a little Holly said so his idea of a successful marriage was where they never seen each other. Julian said society is full of these marriages. This would be Holly’s idea of hell, after a lifetime of being ignored. Holly couldn’t imagine a worse fate. Julian wanted a wife with connections, not one that took his breath away. Instead of being annoyed, for the first time in longer than he wanted to admit , his interest was stirred. Julian thought he would rather have her in his bed than across the city. Julian came up in the foster care system. Holly was wrong in thinking Julian was like her father. Julian wondered how to win over his future wife. Julian had two close friends, they were Ryan and jason, they had met in business school.
I loved this book. I loved how Holly was caring and kind and that Julian was a billionaire but not a manwhore. This made me chuckle at times and choke up at other times. I didn’t like how Holly lied to Julian but she did it to protect employees in her father's company. So didn’t hate her for it but didn’t like her father or even her sister for running away. I loved watching Holly grow in this book. I loved the pace and plot. I loved watching Julian’s and Holly relationship grow. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

This book had it all: big bad billionaire with a heart of gold - check, down to earth girl - check, drama and tears - check, hot scenes - check, happily ever after - check. So, in all: a must read if you are into hot guys, unexpected plot twists and identical twin sisters, who couldn't be more different.
Julian is a selfmade billionaire, who wants to create a name in the world. He believes his best move is to merge with a renowned family business of the Abbott family. The most logic way is a business marriage with the heir of the family: Lillian. Because she is the legal heir to the family business and the family fortune, thanks to grandmother who put this in her will. What she didn't take into account was the fact that there would be a twin sister. Therefore Holly, number two, has been second best all her life: no heir, because she arrived 1 minute after Lillian.
But now that her sister is missing, just before the meeting with her future husband is going to be, Holly's father commands her to take her place. What could go wrong? She is to entertain the guy and then Lillian can take over when she has been found. What Holly didn't anticipate was that Julian was nothing like her father: not cruel, not selfish and definitely not heartless. How can she keep Julian from her heart, when she is supposed to seduce him into her sister's marriage? For once, Holly dreams she can be more than second best, when she looks into Julian's eyes... Who thinks she is Lillian...
Julian is surprised to discover that Lillian is nothing like the information that is known about her: she isn't the confident, cold hearted business woman the world believes her to be. She is a gentle, funny and caring person. And he begins to believe that this business deal can bring some happiness into his life. But what is Lillian's father hiding? Why isn't he giving inside into the accounts of the Abbott business? As a business partner, he should know all the ins and outs? Could there be something amiss?
Find out for yourself in this wonderful read! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for a hidden identity or a switch willingly Romance, and BETRAYING THE BILLIONAIRE has all that and so much more. Lillian and Holly’s father is about to send Lillian off to a business enhancing marriage of convenience and she wants nothing to do with the man who she is supposed to surrender herself to. In steps her twin sister, Holly, who is also appalled by their father’s actions by trying to marry her sister off to a man who will never love her and only sees her as a way to grow his business. Holly will make the temporary sacrifice to stand in Lillian’s place because Julian Worth would accept nothing less than the heir apparent sister.

But what happens when the man Holly meets turns out to be so different from anything she or her twin had ever expected? And how in the world was she supposed to simply walk away from the man who now owns her heart – even if he had no clue as to who she really is?

I fell in love with Julian. He’s not a typical wealthy CEO, he’s a man who has worked his way up to capture his dream. He still has close ties, even a deep love for his foster parents and while he may have spent his life building his company, he also sees the value of one sweet Holly in his life – although he doesn’t yet know he’s falling in love with the “wrong” twin.

BETRAYING THE BILLIONAIRE is full of banter, steamy encounters, falling in love and holding on to a secret that will or could destroy everything that truly matters. There are chuckle out loud moments, and a few moments when tears will threaten to fall. In all, I had a wonderful time with Holly and Julian — and now I need to know what Lillian’s future holds. Hopefully, I’ll find out in the next story.

Looking for a Romance that will capture your heart and your imagination? Then you’ll want to check out BETRAYED BY THE BILLIONAIRE. I had such fun and I believe you would as well.

Everything in Julian Worth's life revolves around his business, it's all about making more money and finding new ways to top the competition. Even if that means doing something like signing on the dotted line to marry a woman he barely knows, just to strike up a worthy business deal, and merge companies with fellow business giant. It's not like he is going to fall in love with the girl...it's just business! Or is it?

Being the daughter of a business tycoon comes with it's disadvantages, everything in your life revolves around maintaining the family business... it's a life Holly Abbott knows all to well! But her father's latest business deal is a real doozy, he wants her twin sister to marry a fellow business tycoon so that they can merge companies and save the family business from going under. But her sister isn't so willing to sign-up for the task, even if it means saving the family business. So Holly steps up and offers to take her place. All her life her sister has been stealing the spotlight in the family, and Holly would love to have her chance to shine... even if it is on the arm of a complete stranger.

Betraying the Billionaire is a charming little faux relationship tale brimming in heart-string tugging feels and toe-curling swoons! This couple is brought together for the sake of business, but somewhere along the line unexpected feelings start to come into play, and things take an interesting turn for them. I really enjoyed this one, it had drama, unexpected romance, and deception... the perfect recipe for a captivating tale. Ms. Davies well penned words and enchanting characters brought smiles and a happy heart, impressive first read indeed!

I really liked this book and that is why it gets 4,5 stars from me.
It is funny but most of the time throughout this read I had the lyrics to the chorus of “You can’t always get what you want” by The Rolling Stones in my head.
“You can’t always get what you want,
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you find
You get what you need”
Holly is a twin born four minutes after her sister so she is not an heiress and has always seen herself as second best and feels like a little grey mouse with nothing to offer. She never does anything unsafe and obeys her father because she doesn’t see any other choice.
Since her sister Lillian leaves without a word, after Julian (a billionaire ceo) propose an arranged marriage and company merger her father agrees to without giving her any choice, Holly takes Lillian’s identity and meets Julian to save the arrangement. Holly and Julian are intrigued by each other and Julian opens up to the possibility of dating and getting to know each other and Holly finds herself falling deeper and deeper for Julian and the other way around. She gets stronger and stronger because of the connection and she starts standing up for herself and those she care about. But what happens when her sister returns and her father wants them to swap back and what happens to everything she worked for since she started seeing Julian and how will he react when she tells him the truth?
Holly and Julian is such a great couple and their chemistry is through the roof wow, but the misunderstanding and the drama at the end can be a little too much.
But if you open yourself up to love and take a chance you might get what you need.
I can definitely recommend this book if you like romance, love and drama.

4.5 Stars!

Wow, what a totally engrossing novel from author Victoria Davies. Betraying the Billionaire grabs you right from the start and the compelling story never falters. The two primary characters, Holly Abbott and Julian Worth, have seductive chemistry, and their romantic courtship is replete with discovery, desire and love. After enjoying quite a few of Ms. Davies's offerings, her books have become an "auto-buy" for me.

Holly and Lillian Abbott are identical twins. Their father is a control freak, and instead of working hard to secure the almost bankrupt future of the family's business, he attempts financial freedom by using his daughters as pawns. Lillian, the older twin and heir to millions, is supposed to marry Julian Worth, a kind, hard-working, self-made billionaire. Their marriage would keep the wealthy Abbott's in the red. Lillian escapes her father's clutches in order to seek out a better solution to their financial problems, leaving Holly no choice but to step-up and become Lillian. Holly has always been the quiet twin, doing whatever her father asks of her. She is a good person and will do whatever is necessary to prevent her colleagues from losing their jobs. Julian is okay with an arranged marriage, since being loved and being in a family was never a part of his foster care upbringing.

This is a quick-paced story with well-defined and exciting characters. I loved the way Ms. Davies evolved Holly and Julian's relationship, with discovery, emotion, and longing. Holly's father was amazingly mean, and his ability to hurt was never ending. If you are looking for a contemporary romance with some surprising moments, a bit of deception, and a happily ever after that will leave a smile on your face, read this book.

Julian and Holly’s story was a moving, emotional and wonderful adventure in Betraying the Billionaire by Victoria Davies, book one in her Abbott series. My heart ached for Holly as I too was that shy, insecure young lady. Being the second born twin has affected and defined her entire life. When her sister goes MIA her uncaring father decides she will take her place (think twin switch) and marry Julian Worth as part of a business deal. What type of father does this sort of thing? Not just offer a daughter as part of negotiations but forces one to become the other. Abandoned as a baby, Julian grew up in the foster care system, not knowing or understanding true love or how to love. It was easier for him to deal with an arranged marriage than take time away from work, his first and only love, to woo someone. After meeting Holly, Julian finds himself falling for her and feeling like the luckiest man in the world; as does Holly. When Holly’s twin finally returns and chooses to take her rightful place, Julian suspects something is going on. Julian is no fool; he knows the woman with him is not Holly. Also, he begins to question their father’s business dealings and wondering what he is hiding. It takes a couple of clever, angry sisters and an aggressive businessman to uncover the shady dealings and dissolve the business de, take down an unethical CEO, and save the girls’ legacy. The stars align as Julian pulls off that magical grand gesture to win Holly’s love.

Ms. Davies wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Julian and Holly a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I highly recommend Betraying the Billionaire to other readers.

I admit I’m kind of on the fence about this one. The premise was interesting. A father pushes his daughter into an arranged marriage by blackmailing her. And there was an interesting twist: the daughter meant to marry disappears and her twin sister must take her place. Holly finds herself caught in her father’s machinations. The family business is failing and he tells her that if she doesn’t play the part of her sister and win over her intended fiancé it will mean people will lose their jobs. She agrees to the charade, believing that her errant sister is trying to find a way out of the mess, and that the man she is fooling is as unfeeling as her father. It turns out that while Julian, her intended, is a successful businessman, he couldn’t be more unlike her father. Holly tries to play the part of her sister, but soon finds herself falling for Julian and revealing her true self to him. But of course their relationship can’t continue without Holly revealing her deception, something she can’t do if she wants to save employees livelihoods. I couldn’t help but feel like the father was made to be an outright villain, and he felt a little cartoony for it. SLIGHT SPOILER And when Lillian returns and everyone honestly thinks Julian can’t tell that she isn’t Holly, I just had to roll my eyes. A man who has the intelligence to build a successful company from the ground up, but he isn’t able to distinguish between a woman he has spent weeks with and has been intimate with and a woman he has just met despite her physical likeness to her sister? Please. END SPOILER There was just too much belief to be suspended with this story for me to really enjoy it.

When their father’s company gets into financial difficulties, Holly and her twin Lillian are desperate to protect their employees and avoid layoffs. Their father proposes a business deal with the hugely successful but ruthless Julian Worth which involves not only a merger of their companies but a marriage to Lillian – the older twin and heir to their grandmother’s fortune. When Lillian disappears, Holly is blackmailed by her father (very much the villain of the story) into impersonating Lillian and taking her place in the courtship with Julian, until Lillian is found.

Shy and quiet, Holly has always felt inferior to her flashier, extrovert sister. No one pays her any attention when Lillian is around and she has felt second best all her life. When she reluctantly takes Lillian’s place in meeting with Julian on a first ‘date’, her nervousness and obvious hesitance to their impending marriage has him agreeing to a courtship to get to know each other.

Julian appears ruthless and cold but Holly soon discovers the caring man behind the veneer while Julian starts to very much look forward to marriage and a future with his fiancée. But of course there is the little matter of her not being who he thinks she is...

A wonderfully entertaining and sweet story. Loved both characters and how their relationship grew – quite unexpectedly to them both.

Being born four minutes after her identical twin sister, has set Holly Abbott, second in life. Her grandmother was very clear leaving her estate to the first born. Now that her father wants to join businesses with billionaire Julián Worth, he has set his mind to marry her sister Lillian off. Except when Lillian runs away, since we wants no part in her father’s schemes, Holly has to take her place. Transforming herself into Lillian’s personality and clothing, isn’t hard for Holly, she’s had a lifetime of experience.

Julián Worth is a self made billionaire. The only thing he’s missing is a name to take him into the right circles, which is why a marriage of convenience with the Abbott name, is exactly what he’s looking for. What he wasn’t expecting is the feisty Lillian to put him in his place. He is really intrigued, which says a lot for him, since he is always calculating everything in his life. The last thing he was expecting, was to fall for this beautiful woman.

Holly is in trouble. She has now fallen for Julián, and she can’t tell him her true identity. He will surely hate her if he finds out her deception, but what if she’s honest with him. Surely he will understand..

I truly enjoyed reading this intriguing and wonderful love story. Another great book by Ms. Davies!

Holly impersonates her twin sister!

Holly Abbott is impersonating her identical twin sister Lillian until she can be located so an arranged marriage will go through with billionaire businessman Julian Worth. Julian Worth and John Abbott have arranged a marriage so the merger of their two companies becomes a reality but when she disappears, John Abbott makes Holly cover for Lillian without letting Julian know she is missing. Most people think that Holly and Lillian are identical but they have very different personalities.

Holly slowly falls in love with Julian but she knows that Julian has a hard time with people not telling him the truth and impersonating Lillian is a big one that comes back to cause trouble for both Holly and her father plus Holly is trying to save the company so it doesn’t go under.

Betraying the Billionaire is a book that would make a great Hallmark movie because Holly impersonating her twin would be a very good movie. I liked that Victoria Davies shows that Holly and Julian aren’t what the reader normally expects and that’s what makes it a very good book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Arranged marriage? Billionaire hero? The heroine pretending to be her twin sister? These are definitely things that have me picking up a book faster than you can say CEO. This was a perfect blend of all 3 elements without a lot of angst (hallelujah).
.
Our hero is about to enter into an arranged marriage as part of a business merger because he needs the high society princess to help him get into doors a lot easier. What he doesn’t know is that his fiancée is definitely not keen and he is getting a sub until private investigators track her down. Enter our heroine (the twin sister) who takes the role of her sister and ends up dating our hero.... yeah that totally wasn’t supposed to happen.
.
Throughout this book the heroine really came into her own after being the meek sister who followed everyone else’s plan- she finally got to be her and find someone who loved her for exactly who she was (I mean isn’t that what we all want). The hero is supposed to be cold and calculating but all I saw was a teddy bear totally falling in love. This is a slightly shorter book but the pacing was perfect and the story played out well within this frame- Dare I say a novella(ish) that I really enjoyed?

This was fun.

We have Julian and Holly; he’s supposed to marry Lilian (Holly’s twin sister) in order to merge their companies. But when Lilian disappears, it’s up to Holly to take her place and hope Julian doesn’t realize this.

I liked both characters, I loved Holly and her selflessness, and I was so rooting for her to be selfish for once in her life and take a chance on Julian. It hurt to see how her father treated her (good God, that man) and how in turn, she viewed herself for that. She had so much worth and I was so happy Julian was able to see that and made HER believe it. :-)

Julian was a jerk at first, I wasn’t much of a fan but I quickly warmed up to him, simply from the way he treated Holly. He had a rough past, so I could understand his hang ups.

There were some ups and downs and I was desperate to know how thing would be fixed! I loved the ending for these two, and I loved the glimpse we had of Lilian’s story. Also, there’s QUITE a lot to fix in terms of her Dad in future books. Grrr.

if you start to describe a romance novel with "there's these identical twins..." you know that sentence ends with "...and they switch places." but even though that is a tried and true trope, betraying the billionaire is still totally enjoyable.

holly takes her sister lillian's place, and tumbles head over heels in love with the man lillian is trying to avoid marrying. julian is a billionaire who is interested in the abbott family connections and sees an opportunity to expand his business empire by aligning himself with the "right kind" of people. julian is a self-made man, a foster kid who has done well for himself. and when holly gets a glimpse of the man beyond the ruthless ceo she can't help but be charmed.

julian knows there's something special about the woman in his arms. even as certain things don't add up, the depth of feelings he has for this woman are enough for him to throw all caution to the wind. but the lies cut deep, and both holly and julian run the risk of losing everything if they can't find a way through the mess.

This book has all the feels! Victoria Davies characters in this novel have depth and a realism that draws the reader right in. By the end you know and love the main characters like old friends. The whole story flows and carries you with it.

When Holly's identical twin sister runs away from an arranged marriage, her controlling father has Holly fill the role. Being her socialite sister isn't as easy as she expects and she finds "her" betrothed isn't what she expected either. As a twin myself, I related to Holly's feeling that she's the B Team and immediately felt connected to her as a character. At first, it seemed Julian - the billionaire fiancé - was going to fall right into the stereotypes of business focused main men. He surprised me by proving to be so much more and I became their biggest cheerleader! Can they overcome a start built on a lie?

This book will make you smile, shed some tears, and fill your heart - I recommend it wholeheartedly!

Julian Worth is a self-made Billionaire who realizes that his lack of pedigree hinders him in his business deal. He approaches John Noble with a business proposition to merge their companies along with their families by marrying his daughter Lillian. John agrees to the proposal. Lillian skips town, and John guilts Lillian’s twin sister Holly into impersonating Lillian. Holly is softhearted, and when her father lets her know that if she doesn’t go along with this scheme, many people in their company will lose their jobs. She of course acquiesces. Problem is, as she gets to know Julian, she realizes that the tough as nails CEO is actually a good man. Of course, the path to true love is pretty rocky when it is based on lies. I really loved both Julian and Holly and how their relationship took time to developed. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Betraying the Billionaire did not disappoint! The book's summary got me to start the book and I was hooked immediately. I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting! I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between Holly and Julian build. So often we barely see the relationship building - we see instalove/instalust and are expected to believe the relationship is real. That was not the case here. By the end I felt like I understood both characters and really believed their relationship. I think the dual point of view helped with this and really added depth. Kudos to Davies for pulling off what many romance authors struggle to do!

This is the second book I have read from Victoria Davies and I will definitely be reading more. I am hoping to read more about Lillian and Dominic (fingers crossed)! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
