Welcome to Darkblood—oops, I mean Darkhen Academy.

There are three rules to survive the elite supernatural school:
1. Do not talk or even look at The Seven, the uber-powerful supes that rule the academy.
2. Never go into the Fae forest on a full moon… or else.
3. And most definitely do not fall for one of the extremely hot and unattainable instructors.

Too bad I’ve never

I've only read the first book in the series so far, so I don't know how the storyline will develop.
So far this does not seem like a reverse harem story to me. There is one guy Luna has some kind of forbidden love theme going on with. The two have some kissing scenes, but nothing further. Other than that, there are some other guys in her life (one with more romantic potential than the others if I remember correctly), but I don't think that this will develop into a reverse harem, probably more of a love triangle....
However, as mentioned before, I haven't read more than the first book so I might be wrong.(less)

I can't wait for you guys to delve into the world of Darkblood Academy! You're going to love Luna and the infamous Seven... not to mention a certain swoon worthy instructor ;)

Luna is a foster child in her last year of high school. She’s pretty and has a friend but isn’t very good at school (or anything, probably). One day, a reality TV star shows up and tells her that they are a) half-sisters and b) Luna is supernatural and has to go to a special supernatural school. Sure, why not. I mean at this point, I’m still reeling for the implied injustice of the prologue, where Luna is born and her mother don’t want her because she’s supernatural, and her supernatural father ...more

A school with almost every supernatural you can think of! I loved Darkblood Academy. It’s definitely one of my new favorites. I hated to put it down. It was fast-paced with tons of adventure, magic, mystery, and romance. Luna is a fun character who doesn’t break under all the supernatural pressure she’s been tossed into. The romance between her and this shmexy, off-limits guy is just heating up. I’m so glad to see him in this book ; ) I can’t wait for the next!

VAMPIRE ACADEMY fans rejoice...Darkblood Academy is everything you loved about that series and more!

This was such a fun read. Completely unputdownable. So much so that I flew right through it and now I NEED the next book which isn’t yet out.

Darkblood Academy was one of those reads that was interesting but also left me feeling like something was missing. The very first chapter truly roped me into wanting to know more but the rest of the read lack depth.

Luna Hallows was put into the foster care system when her human mother didn’t want her after discovering her father is a powerful warlock. Prior to turning eighteen, she is visited by a reality star who turns out to be her half sister. She is whisked away to o Darken Academy aka

The writing is amateurish. The heroine is 18 and very immature.
The fact that the heroine was lusting after the same men that lusted after her step-sister on a Bachelorette type realty show just turned me off. I started to disconnect the more the author mentioned how these hot men were competing for her pretty step-sister’s attention.

I felt that the author had a good idea, but with the bachelorette references and the writing style, it just did not work.

The Seven, I thought were a joke. They

Maybe nothing new in the YA genre, but I still enjoyed reading it. Magical school with lots of different supernaturals, both students and teatchers - what's not to like?! I actually liked ALL of the characters, even though I thought Luna sometimes acted a bit childish for her age (she's 18). Another thing that bothered me a little was all the descriptions of how gorgeous everybody was. I get that most supernaturals are good looking, but it gets tiresome to read it repeatedly.

Darkblood Academy: Half-Blood is a young adult paranormal series that follows Luna, an eighteen year old girl whose life gets completely turned upside down in more ways than one when she discovers that she is a half-blood member of the supernatural community that recently came out of hiding thanks to reality television. I didn't read Hitched by the same author, but I liked the concept of modernizing the idea of hidden supernatural worlds being exposed through a means illustrated using the ...more

I would’ve give this book a 100 out of 5 !!
This book was utterly amazing. After a very long time I found a book I can reread and never stop loving.
I got this book as an ARC for review, but I’ll buy this book as soon as I can! I can’t wait for book #2

Let me tell you, if you loved/love ACOTAR, you’re gonna LOVE this one!

Rydar is just GORGEOUS BAD BOY DEVIL’S SON and you CAN NOT NOT fall in love with him!

I love Luna and her character! She’s amazing, finally not just some girl that will go mad or

OMG! When I read that this was in the same world as Hitched another series by this author I just could not wait to read it cause Hitched was awesome and you know what? So is This!!! Well written we go to Darkhen academy with Luna, and an academy full of witches, shifters, fae and vampires, where the supernatural have come out to the world. A fast paced story full of adventure, magic, romance, mystery, hot supernatural guys and tons of action! Great characters old and new, I cannot wait for the ...more

I received a free copy for an honest review. I love how this series starts off. From the prologue, you get hooked into the story. Along with some new characters, there are some old friends from Hitched that you get to delve back into. The main character, Luna, is amazing. I fell in love with her curiosity and bravery. She gets thrust into a world she's only ever heard rumors about and she does a great job of trying to stay on her feet. But what great story comes without some roadblocks? She's ...more

Wow, just wow. This was amazing. I could not put the book down. It was so good to meet some of the known characters from “Hitched” and find out what they are doing after the show. I really like the mix with magic, demons, mean girls and love interest(s). The forbidden fruit makes it oh so sweet, but my heart lies with the fae prince with the lilac eyes. I can’t wait to see how mini minx, Luna, is getting full control of her powers and finds a way to get her love.

Half-Blood was a rather tame book. I know it was YA but it felt a tad bit juvenile for the characters' intended age. It gave me so much of PG-13 vibes with the MC's blushing naiveness, censored curses and an overall non-graphic style with every element.

Luna was supposedly 18 but honestly she acted like she was maybe 16. Her mannerism, dialogues, reactions to Ryder or other guys.. everything was just not convincing enough to make me feel like she was actually 18. Hell she didn't even curse, I

6 stars!!! I freaking loved this book. Some how G.K. Derosa tapped into my head and gave me EVERYTHING I wanted in a paranormal romance. Luna was a strong willed, relatable character. She was curious of the supernatural community especially after the TV show Hitched aired. But little did she know she was going to become a part of that world shortly after the story begins. Brought to an Academy that teaches and trains paranormal beings Luna's world is about to be turned upside down.

I loved the
Luna has been fascinated by supernatural beings since their existence was revealed just last year when the human girl dated several on that show Hitched. When the star Kimmie-Jayne shows up at her home saying they are sisters, Luna is star struck as she watched the whole show. Kimmie-Jayne wants her to attend Darkhen Academy a school for supernaturals as they share the same supernatural father. Luna agrees to attend but little did she know she would be running into so many of the former ...more

What’s the point of this?

I know this is the first book in a relatively new world the author has created, but SERIOUSLY?!?!
There was too much going on with the plot and there was no real central mystery/conflict that was to be resolved. There’s so much sprinkled in here that I just don’t get where the author was going.
She finds out she’s supernatural... ok. But then suddenly her old life disappears and there’s no more mention of it, no trips to her old life, no reaching out to her supposed best

I really enjoyed this book - aimed at YA/NA. We meet Luna who recently found out she is a half-blood and has potentially extraordinary powers. I liked the concept of having it play off in today’s society with the supernaturals coming out on reality tv (so many reality tv series, makes complete sense!).
Where-as you needn’t have to read the previous series of books “Hitched”, there’s enough references and characters that I feel I should’ve read that before I started on this book, so I felt a

Good follow up series with new characters and old. I really did hope that we found out what had happened to some of the bachelors that Kimmie didn't choose. Well, I got my wish, there are two of them in this book. Most of the characters here are younger than in the previous series, well, it is set in an academy so that's to be expected. Fortunately they aren't all too young to be interesting, this is not Harry Potter, there's a bit more heat than that but not too much. Exactly what I've become ...more

So much fun! This was a great spin off from the Hitched series. A little tamer and more YA but still hot and steamy. This expanded on the world of Azar and we got to see some familiar faces but the new ones shine well. Luna is a good main character. She acts appropriately for her age, both in her actions and her emotions. I loved the supporting cast. Most of them were fleshed out and others were detailed as much as needed. I'm sure they will be even more detailed in following books when we don't ...more

Darkblood Academy just might be my new favorite read. I loved every single bit of it. I was sucked in from the very first page and didn’t want to put it down, so I didn’t. I ended up reading it all in less than a day, and I regret nothing. The only downside is now I want more.

While this book is a bit of a spinoff of G.K. DeRosa’s Hitched series in that it takes place in the same universe and has some crossover characters (my favorite being Ryder), it also stands on it’s own two feet and can be

Lovers of the Hitched series will go insane for this book, set in the same universe.
Lovers of academy books, in general, or more specifically, Vampire Academy--You must stop whatever you're doing and read this now!
A "human" thrust into a world of supernaturals, an unveiling of hidden powers, kick-ass young adults, and forbidden love....this book has it all!
The characters are entertaining, the world is well-described and imaginative, and the romance it hot, hot, hot!

Darkblood Academy is a spin-off set in the world of Azar at the Darken Academy. Luna is a half-blood with a very powerful father and so she is selected to attend the school after the great reveal. We several characters from the Hitched series and a few have more than cameos in the book. Luna is just discovering her family connections after growing up in foster care and now must come to terms with new powers. We meet a lot of new faces too. I personally love her interactions with the seven and ...more

This book is... interesting. I really don't know how I feel about it. The premise is good, the plot is good, but some of the writing is sooo cringe. I couldn't take all the random exclamations like "holy demon!" or "what witchery!" And then there were all the mentions of "his gaze leaving a trail of heat in its path." But other than that, the writing was pretty good and enjoyable. The main reason this book got 3 stars is because I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I can't decide if I liked ...more

I received this arc from the author for an honest review.

Holy shit! So for me I hadn't read the Hitched series first and I'm so mad at myself for not reading them sooner because I absolutely loved this book! I have a bookish friend share the cover of this book on her Bookstagram so as soon as I saw the author giving this away I was so freaking excited! And even though I know what happens in the end of the Hitched series I'm still going to go back and read them! This book had me staying up all

What a fantastic start of series. This book has it all action, adventure, suspense, romance, friendship, magic & magical creatures. I was captivated from start to the cliff hanging finish. Luna's journey is definitely worth reading for all fantasy/paranormal/magic/shifter fans.

Luna is in foster care and thinks she has no family till a half sister shows up, someone special. She also learns she's a half-blood and has to go to a special academy.
She the only "human" in the academy and has to find a way to fit, the only one without any magic, powers or being able to shift. She is put with a room mate we've met before that helps her.
She's having drool problems when she meets the head of the school and one of her teachers and she's caught the attention of "The Seven".

I love the way the author writes. This story is so full of action and intrigue and super hot attraction. I can’t wait to see what comes next because this was such a rollercoaster of a story. I loved that we get to revisit the Hitched world seeing some of our old friends and plenty of new ones.

Enter Darkhen Academy where you'll meet wonderful characters as you follow the half-blood human named Luna into exciting and intense scenes with plenty of light-heartedness too. Swoon over the guys and get caught up in Ryder's smoldering charisma and good-looks. You never know what to expect at Darkhen, especially as a seemingly magicless human who is completely new to the supernatural world. Will Luna sink or swim?

I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could.
