The Dale Hunter Series of Crime Thriller Novels are an explosive mix of crime, cash and computers in the 1980s. Entrepreneurs face challenges every day. It's hard to be a hero. This young entrepreneur is under threats of violence from gangsters in the Montreal Mafia, while also fighting against crooked business associates. He wants to survive and not play by gangster rules. SIMPLY THE BEST is the second novel in the series. Dale Hunter is back in business, but so is Gino Boncanno. Hunter has already had to save himself from a murder attempt by the gangster, Boncanno. Now his new partner in Taiwan is dragging him into business with the Triads and their smuggling scheme into the U.S. The danger escalates and Hunter still has to save his family from the murderous plans of Boncanno. Hunter's escape may seem simple, but it's never easy.
Like the protagonist in the Dale Hunter series of business crime thrillers, Del Chatterson is an entrepreneur who ran a computer products distribution business in Montreal in the 1980’s. Like Dale Hunter, he grew that business quickly - from zero to $20 million-a-year in just eight years.
Some of the stories in his novels actually happened, most are fiction. “These were my worst nightmares,” he says. “I decided to share them through these imagined stories of an ordinary businessman fighting crime and corruption to save himself, his family, and his business from death and disaster."
In the internationally acclaimed Dale Hunter Thriller Series, Dale Hunter and his crime fighting buddy, Frank the Fixer, were introduced in an explosive mix of crime and corruption in the computer business of the 1980s with NO EASY MONEY published in 2018, followed by SIMPLY THE BEST, and MERGER MANIAC. Del is continuing the series with three more novels – BAD BOYS IN BOSTON and CRASH LANDING in 2024, and WHATEVER IT TAKES in 2025. In addition to the Dale Hunter series of crime thriller novels, Del is also working on short stories and recently published Volume 1 of The KID from CALIFORNIA Series.
In 2020, he released second editions of his two business books first published in 2014, DON'T DO IT THE HARD WAY - Avoid the Seven Biggest Mistakes that Entrepreneurs Make, and The COMPLETE DO-IT-YOURSELF GUIDE to BUSINESS PLANS - Get the Results you Want from Start-up to Exit.

This is a Crime Thriller, and this is the second book in the Dale Hunter Thrillers series. This is a story that is mainly about a man that owns a computer store who reluctantly becomes involved with several criminal stuff. I do feel has a thriller it is slow making, and it is more like a drama. I do want to thank you author for messaging me after a won this book to see if I would like the first book free too. I won a kindle edition of this book from a goodreads giveaway, but this review is 100% my opinion.
I may have missed the part where I was to feel sorry for the main character,Dale, but I didn't. It was a wild ride and to see the bad guys get it in the end. Everything I read made me think that all of the troubles were avoidable. That's what the police are for, not Frank the Fixer. Hi He is a colorful character and he does get Dale out of trouble and knows how to work with the bad guys and the police at the same time. So I liked him more than Dale. With that said I did enjoy the book and Mr Chatterson's eye for detail is amazing.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway, for which I'd like to thank the publisher and author. Additionally, the author reached out to me regarding a free copy of the first book in this series. I wish to also thank him for that generous offer.
I found this book an interesting read. The timelines (one in the 1980s the other in 2018) were easy to keep apart, but other than adding "dramatic tension," I found the present section unnecessary. This book had a lot of dialogue that, while providing some insight into what was going on, at times really slowed down the action, plot, and flow of the story. While I found some of the historical commentary interesting, they too slowed down the story's action. There were also a number of side stories that also added to the wandering of the plot.
Simply The Best spins a tale of a business owner who reluctantly becomes involved with several criminal enterprises seeking a piece of the computer industry. For me the writing style relied too heavily on dialogue which resulted in my page skimming in order to move on to the next piece of action/story. 3.5 stars
My thanks to goodreads and the book's giveaway sponsors for the opportunity to obtain a copy of this book.
It is a case of criminal activities in the computer age involving the mafia. Endangering people and love ones involved in businesses in Montreal mafia as gangsters prevail. He must deal with past enemy who tried to murder him as he once again becomes a target.
Once again we watch him outwit his enemies before they get to him.
"The plot thickens" as they say! Dale and Frank (who frankly is my favourite character) are facing renewed and new challenges ..the book is well paced with a more than a few interesting turns...waiting now for book #3!
I agree with “the Main Character not too Smart”. I really wanted to enjoy this story. The poor decision making by the protagonist turned me off so much that I just shelved it.
I am loving this series. I can't wait for the next book. Dale Hunter is an entrepreneur trying to build his business when the Mafia tries to take his money. He has to turn to measures that he doesn't agree with to save himself his family and his business in the first book. In the second book the Mafia comes back for revenge and he needs to find a way to end it once and for all
